Harvesting so much crabs at one time will affect our future generation. Even though we're not going to be there, it's still important to keep sea creatures alive for our future generation.
@@borntorazehell777 Human population continues to increase exponentially, and these fisherman show no care to preserving them. Your logic is flawed; it will take time, of course, but it is possible, and it is happening. Hence why they are being forced into deeper waters, and why catching them is forbidden in Spring (mating season). Face it, their numbers are decreasing to an alarming degree.
I've watch how American catches crabs and lobster. They always sizes them up and sorted. Returned the undersized and females specially with those carrying eggs back to the ocean to breed. A good example way of catching crabs and lobsters.
Im a commercial Maine lobster fisherman and this practice of catching them pisses me of. They should be using traps and letting a percentage of female go.
Notice how small these crabs are. The Japanese have no regard for preserving the species but will continue to mass fish until they are extinct. In the not too distant past, these Spider Crabs reached sizes up to 5.5 meters (18 ft) from claw to claw. The body could grow to a size of 40 cm (16 in) in carapace width and the whole crab can weigh up to 19 kilograms (42 lb). In most American waters, fishing regulations require returning female and juveniles to the ocean. Here, the Japanese take everything with no thought given to conservation. Sianara, Spider Crab.
exactly what i thought,,and no way what they are saying is true about the arms being 1-2meters long, more like barely a foot,,asians are the worst ppl when it comes to fishing ,they keep everything and thx to them the pressure on fish conservation is large in canada, they cleaned out all the lakes
Kiyoshi Nariko in the USA we only keep male of certain size and small crabs and females crabs go back into the water. Just watch any American crab fishery and they all have federal regulations regarding size and limits.
in Pakistan female crabs are thrown back to ocean to breed in breeding season mostly fishing is not allowed in my country in breeding season as well in my religion and these crabs are exported to Japan China Sri Lanka ,etc
I love this video I want some crabs now to eat I just got to wait then till I get me some Mulan to get me some crabs👍😀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀 some crabs you can cook for yourself some crabs ready in the freezer just put them in a pot seasonal how you like it🎤👍🦀
Actually the only live at certain depths in certain temperatures so what you're saying is completely wrong but I'm sure they are overfishing them anyways
They know that they have overfished around their island. They have to make an effort to go out to deeper water to find species they consume. Why don't they have conservation practices? It seems like common sense considering that is their main source of food....
"Snow Crab" called in Korea! But, they are called in different many ways around the world! Other names for the crabs called "Queen Crab" in Canada and "Spider Crab" as U mentioned! The generic name Chionoecetes means snow!
It's no wonder they are over fishing. They are not giving the crabs a chance to repopulate. I didn't see them throwing any females back into the water. I did not see them throwing small crabs back in the water to grow. They seem to be keeping every crab they catch. 😶🤔😶🤔
I lived in Japan, these guys fish everything out of the ocean. You would think they would put the females back, nope they eat everything they catch. Even if the species is only 10 percent eatable.
Here here!!! U should have a keep no matter what u catch system with each ship having a government official on board.. No prospect drags etc.. U have ur allotted poundage no matter what u pull.. That is how to save species and diversify consumption
If we could keep the Chinese from poaching on land then the Japanese from poaching the oceans the real world definitely would be on the right track to getting back to a better place!
I'm sure people have been saying that for years, but since crabs don't have that many enemies in the ocean to actually make a dent in their population, even the people won't either, there are more crab in the ocean than you think.
As already commented, with the millions of tons of seafood taken from the oceans every year, one has to wonder just how this is sustainable. Some Countries are not concerned with sustainability and are purely concerned with an economics and volume. At some point, stocks are going to crash with this already happening. In many cases its all about todays catch and not the long term effects.

Crabs lay millions of eggs. They’re not endangered.
@James Blade they can't lay eggs if we keep on harvesting them
Jimmy Liang The ocean’s huge. You surely don’t believe that we can catch them all.
Jimmy Liang
Crabs outnumber people by the billions, there's no way people are gonna make a huge dent in crab population in fishing.

I would invest in snow crab business.
That's just one small boat, there are a million more around the world doing the same type of fishing with those nets. It will never stop.
Yeah, and since crab hardly have any enemies in the ocean, there are billions more of them than human!

Imagine catching this amount of crabs in single night, it will surely effect the environment
There's never been a shortage. They are abundant all over the world.
@@drewjenn9819 yeah but not every species are the same..... Some are on da edge of extinction
just one problem, those are normal snow crabs not actual spider crabs, the claws give it away.
Spider crabs are cool !!
Bring them ON
i never understand the need to catch the really small ones , just put them back into the sea
Look up the 'Orange Roughy'

Those crabs look a lot like what we used to call Tanner Crabs in Alaska.
Holy CRAB!!
Man those crabs look so delicious however these fishing practices for mass human consumption will not be sustainable for future generations to come

greed will destroy this industry
so?

Tia M waw its own unique
Are those big yellow bins full of crab juice?

Do they show the by-catch that they kill, No. How about the sea beds that they destroy by dragging there nets across the sea floor

Not supposed to use nets on crab they die and females are caught !. BAD FISHING PRACTICE !!! I am a Alaska Fisherman too.
Ta ai a modalidade de pesca mais predatória que existe.
Why are they attracted to the nets? How long are they left there, the nets???
I hope they put back the to small and the femails otherwise there willbe none left!

Ur always ading to our knoleg besides entertainment
these are snow crab (spider crab have even longer legs; king crab are thicker and have 8 legs instead of 10)
crabs all look dead to begin with

This type of fishing method should be outlawed.
Cant imagine those employees there doing same work everyday, same move, standing in the same line. Theyre most like robots than human.
All this for legs?
those were not crab legs, those are tooth picks. i have fished crab in america before and this is not tolerated. this is greed

What about female with eggs do you let them go or do you hatch eggs and release. Or is there a breading season where no catches are allowed.
If we could keep the Chinese from poaching on land then the Japanese from poaching the oceans the real world definitely would be on the right track to getting back to a better place!
7:33-8:15 What is this "liquid" that they collect from the crabs? Is it eggs? Also, what is it used for?
it is the lungs or gills, and then they are sraining the water out of them it must e used if they are saving it.
This is for soup stock or paste source. Believe that this would be the best potion of the club, not waste.
That think actually taste good
And then we are asked to subscribe.
We need to stop fishing EVERYTHING out of the ocean 🌊
One needn't wonder why population is diminished after watching such poor management habits.
Goin to need a 50 year moritorium on all fishing soon
That's a lot of labor in a factory full of machine.

would be nice to know whats going on but still very intersting to watch

This is sad to see. Plus all the other things that get stuck in the nets ;/
Yeah, that was plastic trash in the nets with the crab, they're somewhat cleaning the bottom of the ocean.
