I'm surprised that for king crabs that their traps are so small (the round blue ones). I would think if they were twice the size then all those big beauties wouldn't be all trying to squeeze in to get at the bait.

In my 20's this kind of work may have been plausible. I've worked consecutive 20 hr days. Not now laddy. the days have passed as these we fellows will not remember as their time goes. A haze is the best I can explain it
considering you have a boat to maintain, an employees to pay, gas for the boat, permits, equipments and it is seasonal, its not all-year-round. you have to consider also the indirect costs and labor to bring it to your plate and let's see if you will still question the price of it
Well, who ever the guy is in the yellow slicker should be shown the pier for his lackadaisical work habits, yes they need to be fast, but efficient as well.
Just imagine what our oceans would be like if companys were not pulling billions of fish an crabs out it would be awsome the way it was or better back in the 30s save our oceans

Now you see why king crab fishing in Alaska is banned this year, 2022/23. Same goes for the snow crab.

it has nothing to do with people fishing. it's cause the waters in Alaska have warmed up which is the reason the crabs left .
