      Fishing only satisfies a demand! The level of fishing is controlled by that demand. The only way to stop over fishing is to reduce demand or satisfy the demand by other sources like farming!

      It's only unsustainable, if more is taken than is recruited.
      I don't know if that's true for this fishery, but it's possible that this yield (although it seems like a lot) could be sustainable.

    this is why and how our ocean is dying. Don't get me wrong, fishermen has their right to make a living. But ship like this belongs to big fishing cooperation. The money earn goes to the company not the fisherman.
    This is how our ocean die. Sooner or later, seafood can only afford by the rich.

      I suggest you google squid overpopulation

    • @Theoryofcatsndogs
      @Theoryofcatsndogs 3 года назад +2

      @@liamfisher917 I know that. But do you know why that happened? It is because we catch too much other fish that is squid’s natural predator.
      Fishing boat like this or 5 times the size is not uncommon nowadays.
      Lots of fishermen complained the catch is nothing like before and it happened everywhere.
      Cod and lobster was so abundant before white peoples came to North America. Now it is next to impossible catch a cod that is a meter long or a lobster that is more than 2kg.
      Sooner or later the way we fish will doomed us all.

      Ships bring in thousands and thousands of ani.als ar a time. Nature can't replenish the numbers. At one time New York harbor had so many oysters it had to be dredged to allow ships to come in. They're all gone now. At one time e lobsters were so plentiful they were pulled off thr beaches and tossed into pig pens as hog feed. When that didn't remove enough lobsters thy were sent to feed prisoners in jails and prisons. Not anymore. At one time cod fishermen off thr northeastern cape only needed to drop baskets below their boats with rope and haul up cod by the basket full. No more. Large pelagic fish loke swordfish and marlin were caught off the waters of Catalona Island in Southern California. Zane Grey fished those waters in the early 29th century. No more. 90% of all large pelagic fish are gone.

    these pre stamped squid rings are the biggest reason people dislike squid, it's totally dishonest. A true Calamare Romano or deep fried squid ring is made from the cross section of a small to medium sized squid and is the circumference of its tubed body. Those rings which were punched out of the flesh of a very large squid will be tough and have a strong amonic taste. IT's fine for "feeding people" but taste profile will be very different.

    If ride out to sea to capture squids, how many hours usually for that 1 day? I heard it is a placed thing(the squid to hang), then on top, a hook to unhook like dont make sense i wonder maybe it is magnet is why it unhook and fall easily, so a magnet that detach by force at the spin point and really divers inside? If a real squid-fishing? It is same like if imagine a same type of fishing wire used, a giant fish do not break, the stories of breaking, its been divers inside that cut it, make senses right that it is true? I still want to know of squid fishing job anyway, if imagine 3hrs 1 day, for 1 week? Like that. Is it really a good kind of gains of salary or if own a normal boat to just sell at any market or whoever market people that wait at the boat park area?

    I've never tried squid but i have tried octopus and i didn't like how it was like eating rubber. That being said I'd definitely try squid if it were offered to me at like a restaurant or whatever. This was definitely a pretty cool video of the whole process. I don't think they left out any part of the process.
