I learned recently that Aquarium Conditioner can remove chlorine, chloramine, and heavy metals from tap water. Depending on which brand your using you only need a drop for a small watering can to 1/2 teaspoon for 5 gallons of water. The bottle last a long time and it's cheaper than buying distilled water. Helps prevent browning tips on leaves, and costs between $10 CAN to $20 CAN. Hope this helps, great video; have a great day. 🙂
@sariatwillight2248 yess! I just ordered a bottle of the stress coat for aquariums. I noticed another channel was using it for their watering cans so I figured I would give it a go. I have well water but have no idea what’s even in my water. Going to give it a go anyways 😊🪴
I did buy this product but became reluctant to use it bc it can leave behind concentrations of sodium in your water and therefore to your plants which can burn their leaves more than the chlorine. I let my tap water sit out in the open for at least 24 hours. I also have a reusable Brita filter pitcher.
I love this type of video! You can do plant care videos all day but it’s important to show the “behind the scenes” of the prep that goes into the plant care. Definitely loved it and look forward to more should you choose to do them ❤
Fern, do all of that, continue to set goals and get organized, but also remember that chaotic disorganized people also have the gifts of creativity and deep meaningful experiences and heartfelt offerings for the world, "You are perfect and whole just as your are...and you could use a little improvement" Suzuki Roshi, Zen master. Also, dont wet the tree fern first. I did that and it was really really diffifcult when backfilling into the pots, it wasnt settling. Now I leave it dry lol
I ordered the Ritual product with your code. You saved me about $30 on my order. Thank you. I have recurring colitis and was looking to improve my gut health. I am stuck in this impossible on/ off cycle of antibiotics and prednisone, then about 1 week of being ok after completing the antibiotics and steroids, then slowly building up to full-blown flare again. Thankfully, I see GI on Friday, as I have been waiting since April. Loved your vid, the house is looking so great. Congrats to you and Shane.
Hi Fern: thanks for another episode 🙂I only prepare the needed quantity mix of tree fern fiber + perlite + orchid mix for my reporting, I soak it first for about 5 mins. before I repot the plant, all of my Hoya are in this mix. Plant growth is much better. For propagation, I use Fluval Stratum, root growth shows in less than a week but I put a "dome" (another cup) on top. I have no luck with Molly's soil, it is not for me. Cheers!
I love this video and I would welcome more similar, like a tips and tricks for your actual plants, for your plant tools, for your plant acquisitions, whatever else like that! I love it!
Fern maybe the old squeezey bottle could be cleaned out and filled with your carnivorus plenty flood? Loved this video, made me want a cart!! Also, the wooden butterfly would be cute by your begonia wall xx
Love this video! So motivating and relaxing to watch. For the loose velcro straps, I use a fancy glass honey jar to stick those in. Having it in a clear container is nice because you can see through the jar and grab the strand you need.
Hi Fern! I agree, there is nothing better than getting oneself organized. Your variegated Maranta is so beautiful!!! Great to see a Fern & Olive moment. Loved seeing how Olive looks at you so adoringly!!! 💜🐕💜
So, I'm so late on this, but you may not see downfalls of using tap water on your carnivorous plants very quickly. If you have non-hard water the dissolved salts in the water will take a bit to accumulate in your media. Nepenthes can take more salts than other carnivorous plants, so I normally water with tap water, but flush every once in a while with RO, DI, distilled or rain water to wash some of the accumulation out of the pot.
I looove this new video, definitely a genre of videos I'd love to see more of because it helps us to get our plant game on as well and to improve our own organization, also I was happy to see you mix the soil because I wanna try soon as well❤🌿
I love this video Fern!! I have a cart too and it helps me so much with how I like to water & plant maintenance. I think we all have our own specific “layout” of the cart to best help us. For example, I have a stack of plastic plant saucers, the deep kind, to bottom water some of my plants; my gallon of water loaded with super thrive, liquidirt and cal-mag; my watering can & squirt bottles; alcohol & cotton rounds; a small bottle with osmocote. I place a plastic tray from IKEA on top of the cart so it makes it easy to plop plants on it and water if I don’t want to take them to the sink. Again, great idea for a video, you motivated me to do plant chores, as always! 🤗💖🪴
I’m a HUGE fan of organizational ASMR. It’s SO satisfying. You’re getting me in the mood to organize all my plant supplies now (especially because I have a supply cart that is currently not being used).
Awesome job, Fern!! I am the QUEEN of Prep and organization and I love making lists. It keeps me on track in every aspect of my life. Not to mention the time saving benefits of being organized. I know it's not for everyone, but I cannot imagine how I would be if I didn't. Totally enjoyed this video and I hope you decide to make more of them.🥰🥰🥰
I so appreciate this video. My hubby just retired and I plan on getting into plants and I have learned a lot from you. CAN YOU DO A HOUSE TOUR!!! your home looks lovely.
I would say that tree fern is better as an amendment to a substrate (or for rooting cuttings in place of moss) and not as the base, but it’ll be interesting to see how your mix works ☺️
I try to use lists everyday as they are super helpful in keeping the chaos to a minimum. Don’t beat yourself up if you can’t complete everything, sometimes life throws us a curveball. Good luck on your new journey. You got this!
You can also use rainwater for your carnivorous plants. Just put a bucket outside to collect water (or snow in winter): much cheaper (and easier) than going to the store 😊
If you want to save money on the distilled water, get a Zero water filter. I use it for all my nepenthes and the cartridges last for months! Definitely look into that. You can also use it on your fussy plants.
It's so funny, I always thought you were extremely organised. I mean you write down your plant chores and you label your squirt bottles. And the most impressive thing of all is that you don't let your moss poles dry out! You should give yourself more credit. To me you are organisation guru 😅 but one more thing, I can't believe you are one of those people who doesn't mix your soil with your hands 🤣 that's honestly my favourite part about owning plants-mixing my soil with my hands. Highly recommend
Just get fish tank water purifier if you want chemical free water. You only need a couple of drops for litres of H20. It's cheap and a small bottle will last ages.
I love watching your videos and doing my own chores alongside but it’s wintertime here in Australia so I just have to sit and wait for any new growth :( haha . Love your videos as always!
Fern, if there's one thing I've learnt, it's that we ALL have random cups of sphagnum moss floating around the house somewhere 😅 Thanks for another enjoyable video 🥰
This video motivated me to get up and actually do my plant chores lol! Loved the honest conversation around organization, I feel the same way. Loving your videos lately 💗 hope you’re having a great week 🥰
Ok, I am so curious to see how that potting mix will work! Interesting! Always up for trying anything without peat moss myself. And also, where did you get that gorgeous 🐍 trellis? 🤩
Girl that's me trying to manage everything I buy and want to try LOL. I have been seeing a lot of NZ tree fern fiber being used these days...thanks for sharing!
I always love commenting as I go hehe. But I just wanted to pop in and say one of the ads that popped up was from the CA gov and it was about protecting our Southern Resident Orca and that just made me so happy! I also felt a type of way cause I just got the squeeze bottles to water my pings and now we don't like them?? (I kid, I kid😂)

Hey Fern. You have awesome style and I love your plants 🌱 💕
Gurl you’re on fire! 🔥 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Thank you soooo much 🥺🫶
Thank you for showing your process. It helps a newbie like me. 😊

You're awesome Fern…. I love how you love your plants
I'm pleased I'm not the only one with random pots of spaghnum lying around! 😂 love it. 😊
Wow - variegated maranta going on the wishlist.
And nice job getting through most of your list! 👏🏼

I've tried such reset this weekend and what a blessing 💚
Your dog is too cute the way he looks at you when you talk is adorable.

Yep, love this content and seeing what it takes to stay organized with this hobby. Please do more like this.

I love this idea! Reset with me vids are some of my favorite to watch especially when I want to relax 🥰
This was a perfect video for my own plant chores. Thank you for perfect content every time, Fern 💚🌿
💚💚💚
I use two of those rolling carts I’m my classroom. There is also an attachment for a paper towel roll. It’s very convenient.
Hi Fern! I agree, there is nothing better than getting oneself organized. Your variegated Maranta is so beautiful!!! Great to see a Fern & Olive moment. Loved seeing how Olive looks at you so adoringly!!! 💜🐕💜
Again a wonderful video. I have a plant cart like yours and often hang my spray bottles on the sides.
I just bought some Osmocote. I’m excited to see how my plants like it 💚💚💚
Fern, yoy could always put a bucket outside and collect rain water! I do that and I LOVE it!

Love all the videos lately😍😍 you glowing fern! Thank you for the fun content
Very much enjoyed this one, Fern! I don't think I tell you enough, but I love the style of music you always play. So relaxing!
Thank you so much

I feel blessed with the consistency
Great video as always 😍 Love this kind of prep/organisation content ❤ would love to see more of it 🌿
love your storage method for plant velcro. I always end up with those random bits and I hate to throw them out.
I love this video Fern!! I have a cart too and it helps me so much with how I like to water & plant maintenance. I think we all have our own specific “layout” of the cart to best help us. This was such a good idea for a video. It definitely motivated me to have a "reset" lol
I’m a HUGE fan of organizational ASMR. It’s SO satisfying. You’re getting me in the mood to organize all my plant supplies now (especially because I have a supply cart that is currently not being used).
Thank you for showing your fertilizer routine, I definitely need to step up my game!

Hey Fern! You inspired me to be more organized. I’m so out of control especially with pots. Organizing everything will be my goal. Ty
I'm using tree fern fibre pretty regularly. Its great stuff.
Perfect video! I'm packing for a trip and also doing some plant care before I go and this is Perfect to keep me company
I just got back from vacation and have 5 videos to catch up on! Yay!
I would say that tree fern is better as an amendment to a substrate (or for rooting cuttings in place of moss) and not as the base, but it’ll be interesting to see how your mix works ☺️
this might be one of my favorite videos you've made wowowow
I try to use lists everyday as they are super helpful in keeping the chaos to a minimum. Don’t beat yourself up if you can’t complete everything, sometimes life throws us a curveball. Good luck on your new journey. You got this!
Potting up some propagations while you reset 🥰 loving all the videos!
You can also use rainwater for your carnivorous plants. Just put a bucket outside to collect water (or snow in winter): much cheaper (and easier) than going to the store 😊
Fern i love this style of videos!! I will totally enyoy watching these!💚💚
feeling validated after you ran away from the perlite dust… bc same lol
If you want to save money on the distilled water, get a Zero water filter. I use it for all my nepenthes and the cartridges last for months! Definitely look into that. You can also use it on your fussy plants.

Yea just use your hands!
The music starting at 37:30 made me super emotional. Sounded like when playing Life is Strange which made me sob like crazy.
Thanks for the early access Fern, love having your videos to watch when I’m relaxing in between work! ❤🎉
A nice reset video, great to see you on top of things👌
💚🪴🌱🌵💚
I really need to get those 1 liter bottles i have the small ones and your right they r such a pain!!!
This house is incredible!
I’ve been wanting to try these vitamins. I love that you did this
Fern, if there's one thing I've learnt, it's that we ALL have random cups of sphagnum moss floating around the house somewhere 😅 Thanks for another enjoyable video 🥰
I enjoyed this video very much. Your TATS is amazing is your plants
A nice chill video. 😊 After you add the perlite, try misting it with water. Just a little bit will really cut down on the dust as you mix.
Olive engrossed in you listing your chores 😭💚
Yes I have a bar cart to put my Planty stuff. It looks almost like yours. It’s from amazon
I need to get organized also
This video motivated me to get up and actually do my plant chores lol! Loved the honest conversation around organization, I feel the same way. Loving your videos lately 💗 hope you’re having a great week 🥰
I suggest you to try lava rocks or pumice instead of perlite
I use rainwater with my carnivores. Now that you have your own place I'm sure you can set one up! All my anthuriums get rainwater too
Ok, I am so curious to see how that potting mix will work! Interesting! Always up for trying anything without peat moss myself. And also, where did you get that gorgeous 🐍 trellis? 🤩
You should mix your potting mix outside. It’s way too dusty especially the perlite. Maybe wet it first
Girl that's me trying to manage everything I buy and want to try LOL. I have been seeing a lot of NZ tree fern fiber being used these days...thanks for sharing!
Can also use a zero water pitcher and use that water instead of buying distilled water. I use zero water for my carnivore plants.
This was everything I needed 💚💚💚
This was a really fun video to watch.
Loved this! Got me inspired to do the same thing 🙂
I love this type of video ❤ especially a planty version
Yay I'm so glad to hear that! I'd love to do it more often, great to keep me accountable too haha :)
I’ll definitely be watching if you do!
It’s good inspo for me to get it to together too 🤣
I just recently came across your channel & have been enjoying your content so much. Love that plant cart idea. 😎
Aww thank you so much and welcome! 🌿
Omg, Olive listening to your list of chores ❤❤❤
You should use that extra 500ml squeeze bottle for the carnivorous plant food!
I have a very similar cart and I like the organizer you have on top shelf. 😊🪴
Thank you
Thank you beautiful for another video!!
Good accomplishment
Tree fern is meant to be a stand alone medium. It’s literally the perfect substrate as is.
Your place is looking so perfect ❤ your plants content is so impressive and informative
Enjoyed this video!
My First Video Of The Day...AN EPIS💚DE OF THE FERN SH💚W!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Loved this organisational video! Inspiring me! Hah! My Cal-Mag leaks at the top too! Even though it is a different brand. 😂
nice relaxing content!!! a pipette really helps me get nutrients out of those gen hydro bottles
loved this so much!! 😊
Thanks for taking us on your planty chores.
Now I need to get up and do some of mine own.
🪴🪴🪴🪴🪴🪴
I love these videos!!
