- US Bank Stadium, the newest addition to this storied NFL franchise, is home to the Minnesota Vikings. Whether or not you are a fan of the team, the stadium itself is something to be celebrated. Inspired by the team’s namesake, the Vikings, the stadium looks like a ship sailing to the heart of downtown Minneapolis. But it is what is inside, and what the Powering America NECA/IBEW team accomplished, that is truly astounding.
Parsons Electric, Gunnar Electric, IBEW Local 292, IBEW Local 110, and Minneapolis Chapter NECA teamed up to make this project possible. Scoreboards that are larger than life. Speakers as big as school buses. Thousands of high quality, smart, energy-efficient LED lights. A high-tech Wi-Fi infrastructure that can accommodate for over 30,000 simultaneous connections. 3 electrical services, 12,000 amps at 14 kilovolts each - that’s enough to power 165,000 homes. This list goes on and on…
But perhaps most importantly it was completed on-time and under-budget, allowing for the Vikings to open the season, the first for US Bank Stadium, in primetime this Sunday night.
The Powering America team consists of craftsmen who are members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and their signatory contractors-including those who are members of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). This team delivers quality products at fair prices and offers commitment and a high standard of craftsmanship. It’s amazing that these new stadiums in the US don’t look like stadiums from the outside.
That’s the idea they’ve finally broken the mold.
Minnesota went from the crappy Metrodome to the nice Target Field & US Bank Stadium.
Jefff amen .........add that with the excel center , new Soccer stadium and the revamped Target Center .....we have some nice digs
Very beautiful indeed.(Cardinal fan).
"This place is energy efficient because of LED's" .... "we use 18 billion KW, the power of 165,000 homes"
Very energy efficient , Even though The U.S. Bank Stadium use ( 18 billion KW ) and Power of 165,000 homes lol , Side note , 18 Billion of KW is a lot of energy so how is the U.S. Bank Stadium is energy efficient ?!!! you can used that amount of energy to power a small country somewhere in the world hmmm................. We Minnesotan are definitely energy efficient lol
It's relative, if the used the old lighting it would be over 25 easy
Very nice
beautiful stadium. Going from the metrodome to us bank stadium is like going from hell to heaven.
VpY22 Heaven is for Superbowl champions,
You can tell Peter has never worn a hardhat.
spencer severson
Because the bill is backwards?
That's very common. Actually, I'd say it's a sign he's worn one for years.
Wow.
That's my Son at 3:22 walking with his trowels in hand, And He Is A Life Long RAM'S FAN! Proud of him
Eric Underwood Rams? Them bitches? 24-7 bitches? Those guys ? That team that got whooped like a Hollywood hooker? Speaking of turning purple and choking how did you like the Vikings Lambs game Skippy? All the talk of the high flying Lambs ..........prettiest 1 TD game I ever saw ! Hilarious snowflake
tim allen you gotta disrespect her fucking son like that ?
This stadium is bad ass, but the new one in Atlanta has it beat.
Yeah the new braves stadium is good. That's where I plan on going to next.
Based on what I’ve seen, it’s a draw...retractable roofs cool but this stadiums out of the box alternative with fixed translucent side panels might provide a more convincing outdoors effect.
Also, the Vikings stadium appearance blows out other stadiums it has a more sophisticated vibe.
Double the cash , we happy compared to the hump dome .......oh and I know you dirty birds / Braves fans know the Dome ......1991 ring a🔔🔔🔔🔔
Nope .
Even with LED's when they turn every light on at the same time, the sun dims
Rollerblading inside during winter like the old metro dome?
Hiu-Man Cheung yes there is
watching this as a bears fan in hopes we build something magnificent like this in arlington heights with the hire of kevin warner
The new house of worship every Sunday: The Crystal Cathedral II. Dr Schuller would be so pretty much very proud.
Wow! :Now Da Bears get a better 1. Thanx to Mr. Kevin Warren👍🏿
Nice! They'll tear it down in twenty years and build something else.
not likely.
Thomas Allen that is what they are doing in atlanta
Then they'll tear that one down 20 years later
Funny because there could be some truth with various new venues but it’s possible they’ve gotten enough right at this juncture of tech to have them last.
Not to worry, the NFL is a tax exempt organisation so when needed they just ask the taxpayers for another 500 million or more to build the new one, much bigger and better.
SKOL !!
Whos Big? Mercedez or Us Banks thanks?
Here comes Brady, Belichick and the Patriots!
Here lost Brady, Belichick and the Patriots.
The most advanced modern sport stadium is here in the twin city mn. tomorrow feb. 4, 2018 super bowl will play in there. enjoj every body
I hope there will still be some outdoor stadiums in the future. The wind, cold, rain, and grass are part of the game.
Unfortunately, dome teams never seem to do well I’m all for outdoor stadiums but they have to innovate them with warm seats and warm air ducts blown in to the crowd and players from underneath.
twiston43 not here in Minnesota , This stadium is used year round . The revenue of a open air stadium would be cut drastically . The Gophers along with other area college and high school baseball need an indoor venue . Gophers have to have a place to play otherwise the travel and missing classes would be a problem.
Will D the State owns this stadium not the Vikings . The roof was the States idea to book events year round , final four next spring for example as well as baseball games for all the area schools. In the spring this stadium is booked solid for Baseball . The Gophers play alot of games here each spring because of the elements . It was snowing in May here just this year so unless the Wilf's pay for an open air stadium . This is what we will get. All about making cash
Will D that has nothing to do with that. You think they spent an additional four hundred million for the comfort of players? Really? You are delusional
That roof looks like an unfinished mess from the inside and the shadows on gameday suck!
Levis stadium (SF) they forgot to put a roof on. Fans are baking in the sun. Will suffer for next 20 years.
A for ake
Should not be publicly funded
Why not? Why should public funds not be used for a STATE OWNED multipurpose stadium? The Vikings only rent from it. They do not own it.
Boston is the only city in the USA in which all sports facilities are 100% privately-financed: The Patriots own Gillette Stadium (and they owned Schaefer Stadium before that), the Red Sox own Fenway Park, and the Bruins own Boston Garden (which the Celtics rent). If Boston can do it, every other city can do it.
David Lafleche but the pats don’t play in Boston buddy
Close enough. After all, The "New York" Giants don't play in New York, and the "Dallas" Cowboys don't play in Dallas, either. But the general principle still applies. Yes, the Patriots play in Foxboro. But they never received one cent of taxpayer funding for the two stadiums they've built. "He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want" (Proverbs 22:16, KJV). In fact, the town of Foxboro had a stipulation in the building permits: The Patriots must pay the town a surcharge on every ticket they sell. Thus, the Patriots are the only team in the NFL that can actually prove that their hometown profits from their stadium.
+Eric Olson - Because less than 1% of people in the state will actually use it, and they will have to pay ridiculous prices if they want to/ intend to. So technically it benefits no one, except the owners/ investors, players, and team. The money used for the stadium could have been used for something that actually benefits more Minnesotans (such as transportation infrastructure or social services, etc.).
Hopefully we see the patriots get a beat down there tonight
meh, it will do for an EAGLES SB win
A billion dollar built stadium already rusting a year into it being used. Check 2:43
1991Stang
By the look of the welding scorches, etc., it appears to be a piece that was fabbed on at the site, and simply hasn't been coated/painted yet.
'91Stang? ... me, '67Stang
i feel like those 5 doors are a waste of money. they would only be used like 3 or 4 times a year and that's it. i've been to the stadium at least 5 or 6 times and each of those times, those doors were never used. so most likely they'd all stay closed all year round. so yeah i dont think those doors are necessary
Maybe but the look and occasional use is worth something...it’s part of what caught my eye.
They've been open for games I've gone to.
Unfortunately they were not up for the challenge and lost
Such projects with no corruption and built in China is only a dream
What a weird stadium! Half the roof is glass with a view and the other half is panelled? Stadiums with retractable roofs are much better than this. Looks like the state just got hosed for a billion dollars!
And he was right, THE VIKINGS CHOKED!!!!!!!!!!!!! I GUESS THAT'S WHY THEY WEAR PURPLE!
Eric Underwood good one Skippy, did you spill your juice box again? I noticed your caps button is stuck
Yeah, too bad they don't care about the thousands of birds flying into the glass. Just ask the people who attended the Superbowl and were wondering why there were dead birds all over the ground. During the period the stadium was being built, they were told they need a barrier because of the birds. They ignored it and act like they were never told.
Thejudge Didn't A Bird, win a SUPERBOWL There? I'm just being a sarcastic jerk, I know what your saying I read about it in National Geographic, very sad dilemma,
JustSayin oh the bleeding heart liberals of the Land of Lakes are so self righteous huh? Damn your liberal tears are flooding the Mighty Mississippi
How much tax payer money did they take
The stadium was payed off 23 years early Karen. Saving the tax payers 238 million dollars in interest alone
shame it’s not part of the World Cup
