    I LOVED the Texas Giant! The final run to the brake station was sensational, amazing, awesome, and unforgettable!! I can't wait to see how it rides now that it is converted by RMC. I hope I don't waste a trip in doing so. I also rode the Rattler in San Antonio before profile changes. The first drop was stunning! The snaking way down the top of the first drop was exhilarating! Why they would shorten the first drop is beyond me. The helix after the second drop on the cliff was SO boring! With the makeover, I hope this has changed as well. I have ridden many (And I do mean many) wooden coasters before and after their reprofiling. The original "Dippers" on the West Coast, for example, were awesome with the original trains. AWESOME. Why they would change to plastic trains is ludicrous to me. Very uncomfortable and they don't travel the course very well. Heading East, both Twisters from both Elitch Gardens. The original Twister was far better than the second. Steeper drops, tighter course. I preferred the first one. Duplication would have been their best bet. (Wouldn't do well in Las Vegas!) The Giant from Paragon Park. Again, before and after. Why decrease the first drop? Stupidity in the making. Kentucky Kingdom (Near Louisville) Hurler was awesome!!! Great airtime on this woodie! Geauga Lake's Big Dipper. Why they took out the double-down on the 4th hill is insane! They flattened it out and with the slight turn to the left for the turnaround, was the best part with the double-down. Talk about ejector airtime if you rode in the back seat!! The third seat in the first car of the train, airtime on every crest of every hill... A John Miller classic tore away from us!! Intensity beyond measure. At Cedar Point (Dislike as closing Geauga Lake without letting us get photos and the like) they could really boost attendance and ridership on the Blue Streak with just a few minor changes. The flat spots on the third hill before the turnaround could be a double-down. Same with the flat spot right before the brake run. Either a double-down or double-up. Either one would work. I know my coasters and, if you want to know anything, just ask. I've been around many coasters during my 69 years of life. Now, in my 70th year, I hope to traverse more of these great, Historical beauties. Albeit no video, I can write and tell a good story! Thanks for reading and also, your thoughts on the RMC makeovers. (I might just disagree on a few... HaHaaHaaaa!)

    I love Twisted Colossus, but I do think that it probably should have been spared as Colossus. Colossus was probably the most iconic wooden coaster in the world, behind the Coney Island Cyclone. Not only was it an icon from an enthusiast perspective, but it was used in so many movies and other media, that even though I had not been to Magic Mountain yet at the time when it was removed, I was still pretty sad when I heard about it. You get a lot of people who still miss it, and there are lots of pieces from the old ride that were preserved in park offices and that were auctioned off. I do kind of resent the fact that I never got to ride Colossus, because I've lived pretty close to Magic Mountain for my whole life, but just never got the chance to go until I became an adult. From what I hear, not only did it have that iconic look, but it was actually a good, smooth ride with decent floater airtime. While its replacement is one of my favorite coasters, I still wonder if they made the right call.

    • @jasonwebb5964
      @jasonwebb5964 2 года назад

      It was incredible in the 80s. Riverside was million times better than six flags. I'm so glad I got to grow up with that place and the race track as a hang out spot. Nothing was better than Saturday nights at the park with the races going on. Seeing them from the top of the colossus ferris wheel. When the races were over everyone would empty into the park to ride the rides sometimes until after midnight. And the concerts they used to have were a blast to. Six flags came in and broke their word by closing the track the first year they owned it to build superman. The last race was during my senior year of high school and it was a sad day. I miss the old riverside every single day.

      @@jasonwebb5964 I was talking about Cyclone (talking about "Six Flags shortening the drop"). @@urbex_coasters I was talking about cyclone to. The ride was sick in it's early days before they messed with the drop. I was mentioning that Riverside as a whole was way better than six flags. You didn't have to be a race fan, I'm certainly not, but the atmosphere having something like that there at the park is something six flags can't duplicate
      The park lost it's uniqueness when six flags came in. There was plenty of more places to put Superman than where it ultimately went.

  • @PRMurphy171

    Did you ever ride the Riverside Cyclone? I think your assessment of it is a bit unfair. The wonky transitions really made the ride. Bill Cobb used the slightly odd/out-of-place transitions to add to the overall experience. Also, the lack of banking/under-banking (and some areas felt as if the track banked outwards) made the last part of the ride quite excellent. Also, the first drop (before it was neutered by Six Flags) was totally out of control and INCREDIBLE (even with the Morgan trains). When I first rode the Riverside Cyclone back in 1998, it was hands-down my favorite roller coaster (outranking the likes of then new/untrimmed Alpengeist)!

    Cyclone at Six Flags NE was the roughest coaster I have ever been on! It was way worse then Mean Streak! It was so rough, that they used to have Carabiners to attach the lap bars to the seats as the severe rattling of the coaster could loosen the lap bars and cause them to come undone during the ride! It was torture!

  • @Wesley-76
    @Wesley-76 2 года назад +4

    My parents used to love the Georgia Cyclone, but that was back before it got really rough (and also when Scream Machine was good). I've ridden Twisted Cyclone and it is awesome, some complain about it's short duration but it's so good I don't even care! When you hear "worst RMC" and the "worst" one is still elite that just shows how good they are! Also, #1 would be Lightning Rod if you consider it a pre-RMC (though it was already *built* by RMC, so that may not count). Also, I've ridden Hurler at Carowinds and it's okay, with some mild floater, but an RMC conversion would be awesome

  • @spentron1
    @spentron1 2 года назад +1

    The Hurlers are a good example of how it's hard to find out how the coasters really were for most of their lives. In 2010 they got trim brakes, ending most of the airtime, so any account after that time is not representative of any time before. In 2008, KD's was rough but a lot of fun (to me), while it was RY and Grizzly that caused me hip problems that persisted long after their later trackwork. Recently saw an account it was very smooth when new, problem at KD is it never really added much to the lineup, so even back then it got little praise. When I went to Carowinds in 1998, theirs was by far the best coaster in the park, although for some reason I've never heard much about it. That's probably why it got extensive trackwork (after neutering) while KD's was left to rot for the most part

    Joker doesn't get the love it deserves. It's an incredible ride. I haven't been on any other hybrids besides Joker and TwiCol, but I have friends who have, and they have told me it rivals some of the other small scale hybrids. I think people just don't enjoy the uniqueness as much. It's not all just ejector airtime after ejector airtime. It's got some interesting elements that set it apart from other RMCs. Plus, I guess RMC wasn't allowed to deviate from the original structure at all, so what they rid with that is incredible.

    I’ve ridden my fair share of coasters 3 of my 90 credits are RMCs one being Twisted Colossus I will say it is probably in my bottom 20 in terms of ranking it is a boring ride spending 2/3 on the lift hill it’s gets better tho when I rode the original it only had one lift hill to go up from the start and 3 laps now it barely has 2 laps and the trains are some of the worst pain I have ever felt
