Muscle car in Blender - Retro 3D style (PS1 game inspired)

- In this project I was inspired by Vigilante 8, the first video-game I saw on PlayStation 1 in far 1999. In my opinion, this one is the best game in its genre.
I have long wanted to model a car in low poly style and my choice fell on Plymouth Barracuda 1971. I wanted to make it in PS1 style, but as usual it came out more detailed and realistic. Only when I finished everything, I understand what could be simplified and what not to do at all.
I painted the texture in photoshop using layers. This made it easier to create different color variations of the car. And I really liked this method.
What about animation… it was very hard for me. Somewhere I understood how it works, but some things I did as if blindly and just hoped for luck, randomly moving points on the timeline.
Hope I was able to entertain you a little.

Thanks for the look into your process! I also am inspired by PS1 graphics when I'm modeling but usually find myself veering into PS2 territory as well.
Yes, it's the same for me. This is probably due to the fact that for 12-year-old me, the PS1 graphics seemed much more realistic at that time than now. And since I primarily inspired by my memories, it turns out like this.
But on the other hand, why doesn’t this have the right to apply to PS1 graphics, if, for example, the cutscenes in PS1 games sometimes had more complex graphics.
@@Summmer85 The nostalgia goggles are real. And exactly! Your graphical fidelity wouldn't be out of place with the FMV intro of something like Hot Wheels Turbo Racing.
I was modeling weapons for a project (that I'll hopefully get back to) and I went to go look at some examples from my inspiration, Dino Crisis in this case, and the guns in that game are just rectangles with textures haphazardly applied. I felt quite silly with my booleans and individually modeled parts.
Dude, I just found out your channel and I'm love with your process. I do the same thing but using PICOCAD and never thought about doing the texture and then exporting to blender. Loved the Vigilante vibes too.
Glad you like it. This is the first time I've heard about Picocad. There are so many methods of working now. I’m not sure which is the most convenient, but this is what I’ve already figured out a little. It seems to me that I still only see the tip of the iceberg in the matter of texturing and UV-mapping.
Are you hand drawing the polygon outline that you use as reference for your textures? Love the rusted out texture btw! :D
Thank you for the interest to this project!
At first I created a UV-map (unwrapping), then imported it into Photoshop and draw texture on a separate layer. I'm just more used to drawing in Photoshop.I hope I understood your question correctly to answer it.
Bro you are great
Thanks! Happy you're enjoying it
The style of Mad Max is the best🔥
Show must go on!
I am a beginner Blender user. This helped me a lot. However, it is difficult to refer to because time passes so quickly. It may be inconvenient, but can I watch the full video at normal speed? i always support you
Thank you for asking! I usually record the process, and then combine everything into a timelapse, having previously cut out a lot of unnecessary fuss. Sorry, but at the end of the project I delete the source files. The only thing I can recommend now is to slow down the video by choosing a lower speed here on RUclips. But you've probably already tried it.
Could you make a PS1-style terrain video?
May be some day I'll try to make something like a tutorial
As a developer who sucks at 3d modeling this is so cool!
I'm also a vigilante 8 fan and I started creating a game clone (you can check it on my channel) just for fun 🙃
Thank you! I am currently only doing modeling and animation, but I really want to be able to do something in the field of development.
I'll come now and have a look at this.
Awesome! Good luck and if you need any help let me know@@Summmer85
Chevrolet Chevelle or Hemi Cuda, no matter, they are realy looks great🔥😎🍻
Thank you! Modelling this car was a real thrill.
Could you please leave links to the music from your videos? It has nice vibes)
Hi, I've added the music play list to the description of the video. This is music copyright music from Epidemic Sounds.
@@Summmer85 Thank you!)
make video on how to model fat body
For me, any body is not easy to model now :) But I have plans to model characters
Bro nice video but you found the most annoying music possible :(((((
Thanks! In this case, you can turn off the sound and play your favorite music.
@@Summmer85 yes, but it was a pity, the rest was good
@@Some_one11237 Maybe next time I’ll guess your tastes)
