This is impressive. I started exploring Unreal Engine a few weeks ago coming from Unity. Your videos have given me the extra motivation I needed. Great work, I can't wait to see more.
wow this is so cool. makes me realize how much there is too learn as a beginner as i understood less than 2% of this but i was fascinated nonetheless. youre an artist!
Это видео больше похож на Driver 2, чем сам Driver 2. Я год уже собираю приквел Driver на UE5, но думал уйти в современную графику. А тут прям ностальгия проперла. Супер, так держать!
Wow this looks really cool! Btw, you can change vertex color at runtime for static meshes and skeletal meshes but I doubt there's a Blueprint interface for it (can be done in C++ though). I'm sure there's a plugin for this if you really need it.
How do i break the doors and parts of the vehicle it looks like driver 1 can you create physics that has same deformation but slightly much better damage such glass lights particles and scratches as well.
Do you mean render targets? I didn't want to use RT's as I'm already using them for bullet hole decals and dirt. Also, it wouldn't solve the collision issues.
@@Marcis. would you be able to sell such a thing with like common utilities i see that you have like custom stuff for your project but is it like something you could export and give to someone ?
@@mapelsiroup5604 Do you mean the bookmark widget? There is a plugin on the Marketplace that does pretty much the same. I am not planning on making editor stuff for the marketplace at the moment.
Hey man, great videos. I just purchased your retro shader. It looks very good. Im happy. How do I remove the crosshair on the screen though? Been a while since i did Unreal and I can't seem to find it to delete it.
Awesome stuff. I am working at a damage system myself right now and try to find something less performance heavy than skeletal meshes. So i stumbled upon the procedural-mesh-comp, too. How do create the 3D-Widgets which form the Convex Collision?
@@Marcis. i am making a ps1-style game myself now, because your videos literally gave me enough motivation and inspiration to do it... its going to be a semi-realistic racing game, and on low settings, it runs on 1200 fps on my pc, and on 650 on high settings. on our school computers (dual core cpu, onboard gpu) it runs at 70 on high and 250 on low. if your game achieves about the same and i get to upgrade my crappy cpu which is bottlenecking me all the time, i should be good :)
Hi I have a question what computer are you using like what are the specs because I want to get into game development and I want to know the specs so I can buy a PC prebuilt
Hi, my setup CPU: AMD 5900x GPU: 1080Ti RAM: Kingston 64GB NVME: Samsung 980 Pro 500GB MB: ROG STRIX X570-F PSU: Corsair HX750i You can check out the PC requirements on the UE website.
genuinely crazy that even your first solution is better than every other game on the market besides gta 4 and 5. no other billion dollar company could manage something that looks good like this? i mean it really seems like every company is just using some advanced version of what gta3 did. and even more shocking is this idea is just publicly available for over 3 years and yet still games come out with the "tap it and it swaps the piece to the damaged version that barely takes into account where it was hit"..
You really shouldn't use UE for this. I recommend Godot. Your game looks amazing bit its gonna run poorly on low end devices. Godot is super optimized, so much so that you can easily compare it to the quake engine.
"it makes the game look and feel less retro" I disagree. retro games are known for their clever ingenuity and making the impossible possible. ( eg; dooms 3d engine ). As long as what you make is believable, it will suit the retro aesthetic. Please don't limit yourself just because something "wasn't possible" - developers back then made it possible.
You've nailed the classic driving game look and feel.
this looks amazing! Like a game i'd like to purchase once it releases!
Reminds me of Driver. Awesome!

Pretty impressive. Definitily looking forward for this project
Two games come to mind that had vehicle damage on PS1, Driver, and destruction derby.
Getting heavy nostalgia from this.
Yeeeeess!!!! Loved this video, that damage system is amazingly good!!!
Thanks!
LOVE IT. I can't wait to see what you make with all this. :D
Thank you! Hopefully something fun!
Yay, new devlog :) I've been waiting for this
Sorry I kept you waiting for so long :D
I love this waaaay too much, great work!
Thanks!
You are a madman holy cow! Great work!
haha! Thanks!
Love it like Driver + The Getaway
Really impressive stuff.
looks exactly like driver 1-2 games
great job
Fantastic work as always!

still beautiful 11 months later my friend
the c ollision is sort of retro tho when thinking on Driver1&2 :D Really cool work and effect :D

This looks F A N-FUCKIN-T A S T I C
the GTA SA devs are proud of you
the cars are more real than the one from GTA dayum
Looks amazing, though when shooting the headlights on car, and other glass areas, they should smash and play a sfx
Thanks and definitely. There is still a lot of work to do!
very nice
Reminds me of Midtown Madness 1999 Game
0:12 How do you add the paint peeling without affecting all models of the same car using that texture?
I use vertex colors to blend textures
@@Marcis. Thank you so much!
This makes me miss the old Twisted Metal games
Good game and damage model looks good and it's graphics look like midtown madness
I was doing a marathon on your amazing devlogs and I saw the bullet holes and was wondering how did you make them
I'm using render targets
@@Marcis. thank you!
Where did you find resources on how to implement these things?

the write runtime texture thing can't help with the dynamic vertex color?

can any one tell me what exactly procedural mesh is ??
could you share the project?

It can be a real hit if you will combine this driver 1&2 style with some shooting as a full game.

every dev log it gets closer to just looking like a ps2 game and not 1.5

When you expose a vector variable there is also an option to enable a 3D widget.

what music is this
Can you make a tutorial on how to achieve this? I’ll support your patreon (if you have one)

finally a game my pc can run at some juicy high framerates... 500 fps for sure
