As much as I love Deadwood imo Breaking Bad is a better show. Mostly I think because it's not confined by trying to establish some level of historically Accuracy.

There was so much violence shown in breaking bad yet, when drug dealers and murderers started talking they sound like 5th grade students. Cut a dude's throat no problem but can't say the F word ? It was off putting.

Hearst starts out having a modicum of respect for e.b. as he was apparently sticking up for a friend and e.b. immediately squandered what little capital he had by flipping over and exposing himself as the cowardly self serving backstabber we all see throughout the show. Hearst treats him accordingly from then on.

its up there but season 1 of True detective is the best 8 hours of TV in my opinion. HBO used to produce quality.
