Sounds excellent Tom. You are absolutely correct, bringing in children into the equation after you are financially stable is so much easier and less stressful. My wife and I started "late" due to when we met each other, but I am actually kind of glad because we were both in our late 30's and a lot more financially stable. So once we were able to have our daughter (after a miscarriage and our twin boys passing away at 26 weeks) we can afford to spoil her a little bit as well as have funds for traveling as a family, etc. You have nothing else to prove so concentrate on life and continue to kick ass at everything you do. Let's go.

After the age of 45, often other means of getting pregnant are introduced such as intrauterine insemination. Surely that's what you meant based upon your ignorant statement. My wife was 36 when we lost our babies, which has absolutely nothing to do with the "biological clock."

I’m 51 I’ve competed in various things since I was 14, sometimes the hunger just tapers off a bit and priority’s change. Usually doesn’t take long for it to come back but you can’t force it. I think your doing exactly the right thing, at the level your at that hunger is needed you’d still be one of the best without it but to win to go through everything it takes to be able to win that hunger is essential. Do what you need to do you’ll know when your ready.
