U didn’t mention about aspiration value of a new car. People are always ambitious to grow to a higher standard of living. Of course some just can’t afford but do try. Now cars are available without any down payment!
Tell the people first take license, and study about drive properly, then buy a second hand car under their financial limits, after 1 or 2 year of using anyone can decide which type car is needed.
Because 99 % of people's are different in interests based on, maintenance, power,economy or mileage etc

20/4/10 is a stupid theory !!
According to your 20/4/10 rule, to buy a Maruti Suzuki Baleno you must have a CTC of more than 30Lakhs per annum.
Imagine the cost of car as 1000000₹
Down payment -200000₹
Emi for 4 years ~ @8% is 20000
So your monthly salary must be 200000₹, which is roughly 32lakhs CTC per annum
Imagine buying a premium car with this stupid thoery !!!
Exactly brother, I was looking for this comment. I was trying to buy a car, mean time I came across these kind of theories. This is stupidity theory infact, to get a 10 lakh car you require 30 +lpa CTC.
Lol if you have that much CTC, why would you go for loan, why can't you pay full.
So stopped listening to these foolishness and I bought a Baleno last year.
