- Remember when MTV was all about music videos, all about making a statement, and letting young people know about real issues in their lives. Now its all about drama, reality shows, and influencing kids to have sex, and be pregnant at 16. Do they even show music videos anymore?

I sincerely remember every one of these❤ my favorite was the Donal Logue skits as the cab driver. There was one where he basically narrated what happened in Aerosmiths video 'Crazy'....it was hilarious how he described the end. ...."the tractor is driving itself and it spells the word, Crazy in the corn field'

The current MTV is complete shit with things like awful reality shows. I was born until the 2000s, but the 80s, I know it was a great years, I love the music of those years. In the other hand, the programs I saw on this channel were also quite good, without a doubt my childhood watching MTV was unforgettable. I miss those days #IWantMyMTV, and by the way, I knew that phrase, thanks to the iconic Dire Straits song "Money for Nothing", which is one of my favorites in 80s music

I remember waking up at 3AM. The TV was on, and playing MTV. There was blue smoke and the song "Caramel Prisoner" by Air playing.
I was a little kid then. I'm 30 Years old and I still remember how scary and creepy that was.
The commercial used to be on RUclips (that's how I found out the name of the song) but I can't find the video any longer.

Shortly after the 13:00 mark the announcer says....(wait for it).....wubba wubba wubba. Couldn't believe my ears, apparently Rick grew up on 80s mtv. I wonder if he could recall where it came from or if it was just a relapse in memory that made wubba wubba up or is it a nod to MTV and being sad it is gone. Either way it came from this commercial.
Down Town Julie Brown used to say that on Dance MTV.. that was her thing I believe...

Still haven't found this advert they use to run all the time in the late 80's early 90’s: It was in black & White, had a heavy base, cool visuals including steam train. Might have been a safe sex or AIDS advert.

What killed MTV? They added MTV news, embraced the gay agenda and started being woke and political just like all these companies today that are failing for the same reasons... MTV started out fun, artistic and all music. It pretty much stayed on in my house from 1983-2000s. I do watch Ridiculous now and then cause it's fun like MTV used to be and nothing else on tv makes you laugh anymore without some kind of agenda... Real World, Jack Ass, Nitro Circus, Rob n Big... They were good shows but non stop music was amazing... And the video Awards used to be fun and number one on TV till, you guessed it, they killed it with political agendas.....
What killed MTV? Honey it was them transitioning to generic celebrity news in the late 90s early 2000s.
I have had an MTV commercial stuck in my head for 25 years... Cant find it... 🥲
