Hey Tina! 👋 I used to be a grease pit but I'm now dry as kindling wood. Embrace your oils, they'll keep you looking younger longer. You would love the EyesCream Beauty Box. All make-up (with the exception of 1 to 3 skincare items evey year) and a pallet in every box. FOMO will only wind up breaking! (the mind, body, soul, and bank account) We're all guilty of the pretty package buying. I'm human so if there's a mistake, I've made it when it comes to $$$ and makeup. Tfs and I'll see you soon 🌈 🌻 🤗 😘 🥰
Yep, all human. Mistakes are part of the journey. I've thought about Eyescream Beauty. But I'm not really into adding to my inventory right now. And if I do, I want to be very particular and make sure it's something I'm either very curious about, or feel pretty sure is going to work great for me.
Great video! You look lovely. Yes I've made most of them LOL. I especially relate to the one about the oily skin. I wasted money on foundations and primers. And not only makeup and skin care for the fantasy self but also clothing. It does take trial and error to figure out what we like to do and what looks best on us. But once we figure it out, we don't have to keep looking for what's new and best. Same with skin care. Once I got a routine that I'm thrilled with, I quit watching skin care you tubers actually. I thought I don't need to know anymore of the newest latest ingredients. But I did do a lot of research because I had so many skin conditions. I'm grateful to have clear skin now after 5 years of working on it. I look forward to seeing your skin care video. And your palette declutter 😊
@@TinaHBeautifulJourney I appreciate that! There's so much free information available on RUclips. Took a lot of trial and error but now I have my routine perfected and my skin stays clear 24/7 which seems like a miracle.
I admire any woman who can use make up. I had to go to Sephora to learn just some basics in order to not have my face look like a beacon while filming my RUclips videos. Now, I only I use a tinted moisturizer, eyelash curler, a brow brush and lip balm. I like make up but don’t really wear it and don’t have enough knowledge in applying. I just started watching beauty channels to learn more and I am 62 😂.
If you want to play with different techniques or colors, do it before you wash your face in the evening. That way, you can really go for it without worrying about how it will turn out. If what you try works, you can do it the next day. If not, you can keep working on it until you are comfortable with it.
I get what you're saying here, but at the end of the day, my face is dirty and oily and I would have a horrible result with any makeup if I didn't put it on a clean face. But I love your channel!@@TinaHBeautifulJourney
@@MyCleverHandle Well, you could wash your face, start fresh, and then wash it again. I guess I was mostly thinking about dramatic eye looks so I'd probably just take a wipe and clean off whatever eye shadow I had on, play around, and then do a full wash. But yes, if I were going to do any face makeup playing, I'd likely have to wash first too. So, good to clarify!
Need avoid any mistakes I can 😊. Thanks 💜💜.. Yep we all have different skin types at every age! Low & slow is the 100% key to discovering your unique skincare routine 😊
Reining in the fantasy self, or what Elle S. calls "aspirational" makeup, would be easier if I hadn't worn it during my checkered past. But I've definitely regretted spending money I didn't have on blue-black lipgloss I had no place/occasion to wear anymore. I do call my stash a collection, but buy from an "inventory" mindset, most of the time 😉. But this does make me want to see you do the Eyeshadow Palette Collection Tag (Morgan Turner did it, for one).& I heartily agree with your notes about not trying too many skincare items all at once-- you not only won't know what's working, you won't be able to figure out what gave you that rash or breakout, either. Happened to me, got a scar that's still not 100% gone.
Oh no on the scar! I will look into that tag. I love tag videos! My aspirational self does express herself occasionally. But she doesn't need as much as she thinks she does. Lol
Hi Tina! I relate to the costly mistake of the collection mentality. In my early 50s I suddenly noticed discussions about skin care and thought the best way to jump in was to buy an entire collection and start a number of new things at once. Haha - I've since paired back to a simpler routine. In terms of RUclipsrs, @DrDray is very informative with respect to skin care. Great video!!
Hi Tina! You made some great points in this video! I cracked up at “when you start out as a grease pit…!!!” I also can relate to buying things for your “fantasy” self(I even did a whole video on this a couple years ago) and sad thing is, I keep doing it! Lol! Have a great Sunday my friend!
Great topic, Tina! I can relate to so many of your points here, especially regarding having oily/combo skintype (I used to be a lot oilier). It can be quite challenging to find products that don’t add to the oiliness while not being overly drying & causing flaky patches. I had never experienced any significant issues with acne (even as a teen) , but when I hit age 45 or so, I suddenly was getting the cystic variety at the drop of a hat. 😳 I was so thankful to find dermatologist Dr. Dray on RUclips, as she takes a very minimalist approach to the number of products one should typically use & had many wonderful recommendations for specific ingredients/products that have really helped with the adult acne & post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (products like adapalene aka “Differin” gel, Azelaic acid, mandelic acid, products containing cica for calming redness, & of course, sunscreen!!!). And not just products/ingredients, but how to use them together for the best results & to avoid over-drying. 👍I’ve personally had to reign it in over the last couple of years with eyeshadow palettes & lip products, particularly the ones that are affordable, as it’s easy to get into the trap of buying things “just because they’re cheap.” I sometimes forget that I only have one face! Haha! 😂 Praying you’re having a most blessed Sunday! 😇🙏✝️❤❤❤
@scotzmnswife thank you for sharing the acne info. My daughter struggles with it and we are trying to get it under control. She can't use differen. It's too strong. But I forgot about cica for calming. And yes to the products that help with oil control without being too drying. That can be hard to balance. I had to stop using tretinoin as my skin just looked terrible all the time.
, I’m so sorry to hear that your daughter is struggling with the same kinda’ issues. It can be frustrating for sure. I’m convinced a lot of mine has been hormonal lately, as I had to change progesterone medication, so mine is currently flaring something awful. Hydrocolloid patches have been my best friend this week! 😅 If your daughter happens to have oily skin type, she might want to take a look at the Good Molecules Clarify and Cleanse Bar (it is soap-free & has a lower percentage of salicylic acid than most cleansers). I found it on Amazon for $5. I use it only once a day in the morning, & then at night, I double-cleanse with pure mineral oil followed by a gentle cleanser (I bounce between Walmart’s Equate version/dupe of CereVe for dry skin or a dupe for Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser). I’ve had pretty good luck with those, & the Azelaic & mandelic acids (both pretty gentle) are from The Ordinary. I wear the mandelic under sunscreen & makeup during the day, & it helps smooth out any dry patches from acne treatments. Despite how it initially feels, it’s actually oil-free & sinks in pretty quickly. It definitely makes my makeup look nicer on my skin & helps with texture. I use a thin layer of the Azelaic at night. It can occasionally feel slightly “itchy” but this is actually normal/pretty common. It’s also great for rosacea which I also have. Lucky me! Haha! 😄 Praying your sweet girl can find a regimen that works well for her skin needs! 😇💕 p.S. Please forgive if you receive multiple/duplicate replies, as RUclips was giving problems posting my reply! Eeek! 😬 @@TinaHBeautifulJourney,
Great video! Yes, buying for my “fantasy self” is a big one. I love the Ulta 21 DOB (if you’re platinum or diamond status, you get free shipping on the beauty steals FYI), but I do have to ask myself during the sale if these were products I was interested in prior to them being offered at a deep discount. When I do that, I save myself lots of $
That's a good question to ask. I definitely don't buy enough to reach any tier at Ulta. Often, I find they're more expensive than Amazon or Walmart. In fact, I was working on expenses, and I had no Ulta purchase in either 2023 or 2024 so far.
you are taught to wear the makeup and then to take it off each night, I think my skin might have been better with never using it. but it did protect from the sun, At 67 I believe in mind products and moisturizer. Cheers.
I can't believe how many times I didn't actually take my makeup off before bed when I was younger. Now, I can't even imagine going to bed with it on. It would just feel so YUCK. No matter how tired I am, it comes off. And yes, I think sometimes when my skin was broken out as a teen, I'd have been better off going bare faced, but I wanted to cover up the pimples. Thanks for watching!
Really valuable points, Tina! Leaving products in your cart and stepping away is a great tip. Have you seen Dawn over at Just Doing My Best? She's mostly IG but is our age and has skin a lot like yours.
Great video Tina!! I love to indulge in my fantasy self!! Like you said.. it's a learning curve to understand your true likes and dislikes. I think people should experiment, but with cost effective products.
Hey Tina! This was awesome! I have tried so many products that others like only to have buyers remorse when they don't work for me. As we joke about regularly, you and I have completely different skin and we do not like each others products! 🤣 And I think that i have put a muzzle on my fantasy self for the time being and have begun to declutter the things that i know i am not going to use. Ever. And buying things for packaging....She's done a lot of that too 😂😂😂😂
I like to stick to what I know works for me but the problem with that is that the makeup I love usually gets discontinued . Then I have to go through so many different products to find a replacement. It’s a vicious cycle.😩
@JodyLynn86 Thanks, JodyLynn. That's a really good question. I don't actually know!! I need to do a systematic ranking and figure that out. I do really like the Flower Light Illusion, elf camo hydrating. Catrice true skin, and Maybelline fit me.

I don't get shiny but I don't get dried out either...except for a patch from time to time. Yet, regular foundations look horrible on me. I'm at a loss.
@MissyPippyCrafts give me 3 examples of foundatioms you've tried and what happens with them. Do they settle in lines, look cakey, wear off weird, slide around, etc. Do you use a moisturizer or other skin care? How do you apply it?
On a side note, I've been wanting to tell you that my 13-year-old actress daughter had a fantastic audition for that massive Christmas Wonderland production. Not only did she have her dream come true to be cast as an adult and top rated dancer, but she also got a bit part as Brigitta in one of the Von Trapp family singers with a solo singing line. This is the same one we've done, it's our third year now, but our practices have always started in November because she was with the kids cast. This year our practices start now! And it's 30 minutes from our house LOL. I'm going to be extraordinarily busy. But this is a huge honor for her. In December there will be 10 performances with 1700 people each. We like this one because it also shares the gospel of Jesus Christ.
@@TinaHBeautifulJourney Thank you so much! I'll be sure to tell her. Yes we are thrilled she has this opportunity. I could use some prayers for strength LOL
How wonderful for her and the whole family. The theatre can teach confidence as nothing else can! And dance is truly the fountain of youth. I just finished reading Dancing on the Edge by a dance pal of mine and MGM star Russ Tamblyn she might enjoy his book! Cheers.
