Snake is able to cure his wounds with basic medical supplies yet the boss from MGSV somehow manages to got shot 80 times in a mission and proceed to shower all the wounds away.
XxX_FATLOSER21_XxX I would have killed for the wounds and cure system to be implemented properly in MGSV. Apparently you can still break bones and have to treat yourself with R2 but it never happened in my whole playthrough

I like the instructional video tbh, it used to inspire me when i was a kid to not overreact when you get small cuts and such. Whenever I got a little cut or a small wound, I would just think "Snake had went through worse, this is nothing".
Update: The gunshot healing animation is in the HD version but it's very rare and was changed slightly. In the original PS2 version, Snake digs the bullet out from the right part of his chest, it was changed to him digging it out of his left arm in the HD version.

Lonely Stranger To fix this, go into the survival viewer and open “CURE”. Sell your copy of MGS 4 and 5, and use the money to buy all versions of MGS 3. This should cure your cancer nicely.
Fun Fact During my playthrough of MGS3 I discovered that if you healed a bullet wound completely EXCEPT for taking the bullet out it'll auto-heal that last bit of recovery, thus finishing the wound, BUT the bullets will remain inside you and not be able to be removed. I kept every bullet inside Snake from start to finish. The best was the buckshot in the pelvis.

(I think it was somewhere slightly below the left shoulder) He’ll take the knife cut the wound open and will then proceed to dig out the bullet with his fingers, throwing it on the ground

Well I don't think they forgot to re-animate, but just didn't have anything to work off of. Those scenes were just pre-rendered videos and there's not much they could do with that.
I think they didn't get all pixelated on the original PS2 version. I remember the little video showing you what the shagohod fuel tanks look like on the radio would glitch very badly,
I read a clickbait article years ago that had mgs3 on a list of “games that tried to be super realistic and failed” or something and it alluded to the survival viewer being “clunky.” It’s definitely not something we see in modern games but the slow pace and the process of individually applying treatment really gets me in the feeling of being in the jungle.

You forgot the cold, you get it by staying in vold water for 30 min,you would sneeze revealing your location to enemies,lose stamina and your controller would vibrate.

Ah, burn wounds... The Fury gave me a HELL of a lot of those damn things. That one boss fight made me go into the Survival Viewer more times than the rest of the entire game.
I just put on my headphones and opened this video and didnt realize I had my volume all the way up for them, then Snake yells. Needless to say I almost gave myself a dislocated shoulder with how quickly I pulled my headphones off.

Maybe because the HD version renders at a higher resolution we see them? The PS2 outputted obviously much lower, so maybe we never noticed it.
