you can buy a filter for cellphones. but if you have 2 pairs of glasses one for you and one for your phone.

My 77mm ND1000 filter along with stacking an IR770 Hoya worked perfectly for the 2017 Partial Eclipse in Philadelphia, that was for my one lens. Just love that IR filter also for taking long exposure daytime shots.I need to find (or make ) a filter for my 95mm 600mm SIgma lens.
What I DO need is it for not to be overcast / rainy come April 8!! Damn, that would be a massive letdown.

Thanks for this great video on photographing the Total Eclipse next month. I do plan to try to take a Total Eclipse Selfie on April 8th. What are your recommendations for taking a Total Eclipse Selfie?

Oh no...! I'm 19 seconds in and he's already talking about buying some "pretty expensive equipment...". Important thing: PREPARATION, preparation, preparation... I've seen and shot a number of eclipses before...There is some good advice here (eye safety) but... disagree with so much here as well.
What do you need? Expensive gear? It depends utterly on what you want to photograph and how. You do NOT need eye glasses for totality - you won't see anything - but YES definitely use/wear them during partial phases. Definitely try to get a solar filter, preferably glass (Seymour is a good make) but solar film from Baader will do well. (Lots of video available showing you how to make your own solar filters from Baader film). I will be using my phone, a GoPro and some more expensive gear, but the very first thing is to decide WHAT (images and/or video) DO YOU WANT TO TAKE HOME WITH YOU? - That should be your very first decision. The options and questions:
1 Do you want to film the whole thing or just totality?
    2 Video or stills?
    A) Video - time lapse or normal speed? If you want to capture people's reactions, then normal video is going to be essential.
3 - Close up on the sun (telephoto), or getting the whole thing from eclipsed sun to the orange horizon (wide angle)??
3 Fixed to a tripod or able to move around (phone or GoPro) whilst you enjoy the eclipse?
Think and PREPARE accordingly - it just depends what you want to take home afterwards. Lots of software and apps to help with photography (e.g. Eclipse Orchestrator which connects to a Canon or Nikon DSLR and does everything automatically) and Eclipse Timer (which tells you what to look out for as the eclipse progresses, according to your particular location.
You do not need a DSLR for eclipse photography but having one will produce images closer to what you see online, and use a remote shutter release. Above all, do not spend all your time looking through the camera taking pictures, but spend time looking up and being amazed for as long as you are able (BEFORE the sun shows itself again - C3) because you may never see this again. 😊😊

You only need a filter for the DSLR if you are using a camera lens (basically a filter for the lens). Otherwise if you are using a telescope you would only get a filter for the scope.
