Her grandmother, Mery is an artist. Mery told me that as soon as Angelina was able to grasp objects, she would see if she could make it make a sound. And by three months, she was making melodies by banging things together. Not just randomly, but making melodies! Angelina developed her love for Jazz because Mery used to play Jazz in the house.

I have watched countless reactions to this video, yet you are the first to mention the firnger twirl. That caught my attention the first time I watched this video and I look for it every time I see this again. To me it says that Angelina is directing the music itself. That when she does that little run, she wants the music to spin around, like water going down a spout. We listen to the music with our ears, see the video with our eyes and feel some emotion. But I believe that for Angelina, music involves every sensory mode available to humans, perhaps some we have not yet even identified. To the best of my knowledge, the only musical influence Angelina had from her family was her Iranian grandmother (mormor) drawing her attention to melodic jazz. The rest is just the immense talent Angelina was born with. While she learned about music in the Oslo school of music and performance arts, she did NOT receive much proper vocal training - she is, by all accounts, entirely self-made. What is striking is how the accomplished jazz session players took to her own "arrangement" of the song (he wishes) - they fondly called her "the boss"! Even more striking is that after she won NGT at the age of 8, all the best musicians and orchestras in Norway have been willing, even eager to perform with her.

Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina replied, whenever she goes on stage to sing, she will be barefoot to remind her of her new friend, and all other children like her. Angelina never learned the orphan's name but called her Princess. The orphan girl replied, "princesses live in castles, we live in ruins". Angelina titled her song about this story, "Princess of Ruins". Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. It is truly a conundrum when we try to rationalize how it is possible that this tiny sweet-faced 9yo Norwegian girl can step up to a microphone, flip some switch within her, become this "beast-mode" version of herself (most probably named "AJ don't play"), deliver an extraordinary and musically and socially sophisticated performance, then just-like-that return to the pensive young lady once again... There aren't words for this! "I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock-rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne-type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video). You must go and listen to Hawkins' original (and throw in a couple of "famous" covers as well) to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. This shows another aspect of her musical IQ and arranging genius (not to mention her masterful control of her vocal instrument equaled by few others regardless of age). You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. Her grandmother, Mery is an artist. Mery told me that as soon as Angelina was able to grasp objects, she would see if she could make it make a sound. And by three months, she was making melodies by banging things together. Not just randomly, but making melodies! Angelina developed her love for Jazz because Mery used to play Jazz in the house.

One day during winter in this Middle Eastern City, she met a girl of her age, sitting in a street corner weighing people for a bit of money. Sitting on the ice cold street in rags, scarred feet, no shoes. Miss Angelina went to her and talked with her (in Persian Farsi) After a while she took her shoes off and gave them to the girl. I have watched countless reactions to this video, yet you are the first to mention the firnger twirl. That caught my attention the first time I watched this video and I look for it every time I see this again. To me it says that Angelina is directing the music itself. That when she does that little run, she wants the music to spin around, like water going down a spout. We listen to the music with our ears, see the video with our eyes and feel some emotion. But I believe that for Angelina, music involves every sensory mode available to humans, perhaps some we have not yet even identified. That is what sets her apart from other great and talented vocalists. She is truly unique and becomes the music itself when she sings, almost as if possessed by her muse.

To the best of my knowledge, the only musical influence Angelina had from her family was her Iranian grandmother (mormor) drawing her attention to melodic jazz. The rest is just the immense talent Angelina was born with. While she learned about music in the Oslo school of music and performance arts, she did NOT receive much proper vocal training - she is, by all accounts, entirely self-made.
What is striking is how the accomplished jazz session players took to her own "arrangement" of the song (he wishes) - they fondly called her "the boss"! Even more striking is that after she won NGT at the age of 8, all the best musicians and orchestras in Norway have been willing, even eager to perform with her.

At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes.
Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina replied, whenever she goes on stage to sing, she will be barefoot to remind her of her new friend, and all other children like her.
Angelina never learned the orphan's name but called her Princess. The orphan girl replied, "princesses live in castles, we live in ruins". Angelina titled her song about this story, "Princess of Ruins".
Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. It is truly a conundrum when we try to rationalize how it is possible that this tiny sweet-faced 9yo Norwegian girl can step up to a microphone, flip some switch within her, become this "beast-mode" version of herself (most probably named "AJ don't play"), deliver an extraordinary and musically and socially sophisticated performance, then just-like-that return to the pensive young lady once again... There aren't words for this!
"I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock-rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne-type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video).
You must go and listen to Hawkins' original (and throw in a couple of "famous" covers as well) to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. This shows another aspect of her musical IQ and arranging genius (not to mention her masterful control of her vocal instrument equaled by few others regardless of age). Angelina dropped her latest song on May 5th 2023 it is the first song off her new album which will be out soon. She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talked with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind herself (and the world) that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity.

No. There's nobody else in her family that's musically inclined. Her maternal grandmother with whom she's very close, listened to a lot of classic jazz and Angelina fell in love with it at a very young age.. This song Is mostly about obsession masquerading as love. The bare feet are a reminder for her that there are less fortunate people in the world who don't have shoes.
