      Thank you so much! I really appreciate that.
      Honestly, it should’ve already been up! I’ve had some issues with my camera, my audio, and even my software lately, so I’m having to redo a lot of stuff. I am working on it now, so hopefully very soon!

    I have made ginger beer many times and it all started with my parents making it in the late 1950's. Thank you for bringing back some great memories to an old Aussie.

      That’s very cool!
      I find myself over the years as I start to grow something or have a problem, or discover something that I think is new, and then I have a old memory slide back from my grandmother many years ago. So I completely get what you mean by that!
      He really is good stuff too, and that never hurts!

    One of my favorite things! I also love to make candied ginger in little chunks and raw can sugar and a little water cooking it down low and slow. Fab! Keep it in my candy jar for daily treats!

    • @TexasGardenDoc
      @TexasGardenDoc  9 месяцев назад +1

      That sounds like a great little treat!
      I’ve never made candy, ginger myself, however, I have had it and is quite delicious. I try not to keep too many sweets around, because I have a tendency to devour them all in one setting! 😂

      @TexasGardenDoc  10 месяцев назад +2

      @ladonnagreene9565 hi there! Do you mean the recipe for the ginger bug? I’m finishing up the editing on that video so it should be out in a few days. It’s pretty simple though.
      You make it over about five days. On the first day you add 25 g of uncured ginger to a jar and add 500 mL of water and 2 tablespoons of sugar then shake it up, and lightly cover it.
      On the rest of the days we chop up 25 g of uncle Ginger put it in the same jar and add two more tablespoons of sugar, shaking and covering it . Repeat that for the rest of the five days. That’s about it!
      Hopefully that helps, and the video should be up in a couple of days!

    Most real ginger ale or beer I ever tried was hot spicy hot ! Kind of for Jamaican or Caribbean cocking not drinking . Maybe some General Tao chicken :) Do like some others on the cheap brewers do and use a balloon on the bottle top for the expansion. .

    • @TexasGardenDoc
      @TexasGardenDoc  10 месяцев назад +1

      General Tao chicken would be great!
      Balloons were great, as well as plastic wrap with a rubber band as long as you have enough plastic wrap to let it expand out. There’s lots of different ways, and I can’t say that there are many that don’t really work, so anything you like to try I think you’ll probably have success with!

    Ginger is a rhizome.
    Thanks for this. Always wanted to learn how to make my own non-alcoholic ginger beer. Seriously.

    • @TexasGardenDoc
      @TexasGardenDoc  16 дней назад

      lol. Yes, it is! One of the things I realize after making that intro was I made it sound like I didn’t know what it was, but I was just saying it in just jest to be kind of funny. There’s so many misnomers in foods like that or the industry calls it ginger root when it’s really just a rhizome! But you are 100% correct!
      I’ve had some technological issues here for the last year or so and I’ve not been able to get my ginger bug video out. I’ll probably have to end up remaking it, but when I do, I will hopefully follow up with an alcohol free ginger beer. It’s more like a soda. I guess it’s excellent!

      It is the perfect time! Yes, I mentioned in your reply to the other video. I had some very serious technical difficulties that caused the gingerbread video to be a major problem, actually several videos that haven’t been posted yet to be a problem…
      However, I think I feast enough together the ginger bug video. I’m hoping to have it out soon for you!

      @twinfin8571 2 месяца назад +1

      @@TexasGardenDoc . Great! Sorry for the technical problems. There are a lot of videos on how to make the ginger bug but you seem to know a lot about ginger so I’m interested in seeing how you make yours. And it surely was alive and well in the beer video! Tks
      Ooooh. I just saw your reply to my question previously. Had I seen that, I wouldn’t have asked again. Sorry. Sometimes I get behind or the answer doesn’t show up till later.

    with water what about rain water?

    • @TexasGardenDoc
      @TexasGardenDoc  4 месяца назад +1

      I suppose you could use rainwater, although I would say that it would probably need some decent filtration, or maybe even have it boiled first?
      The only reason I say that is because since this is a fermentation process, you don’t want the bad bacteria to overrun the good bacteria that you’re trying to create. I feel like that would be the only downside to it is that you could get some bacteria in that water that would cause a major problem. Other than that ring is fantastic!

    • @aussietracey1
      @aussietracey1 4 месяца назад +1

      @@TexasGardenDoc i always boil my water then let it cool down to room temp then freeze it. kills all bugs

    • @TexasGardenDoc
      @TexasGardenDoc  4 месяца назад +1

      Perfect! That should work just fine for it. That takes care of the major concern, which is bad bacteria getting into it which you don’t want.
