Xavier Rudd: 'Spirit Bird'

- Xavier Rudd is an Australian singer and songwriter. He also plays several instruments, including the guitar, harmonica, didgeridoo, and banjo, among others. Much of Xavier’s music incorporates socially conscious themes, such as environmentalism, and is considered to have a spiritual connotation. One of Xavier’s great-grandmothers was an Aboriginal Australian and some of his music speaks to the plight of the Aboriginal people, who still face extreme marginalization today.
His album, Spirit Bird, and the title track were created after Xavier’s encounter with a red-tailed black cockatoo in Australia. He had a powerful experience of imagery and emotion, stating:
“A lot of that [album] grew out of me giving myself to that country up in the Kimberley and that country gave it back to me… I’d been on a bit of a journey and Spirit Bird represents that.” - Xavier Rudd

8 generations ago my ancestors were put in chains and shipped overseas from their homeland like cattle. Sold like cattle. 8 generations ago but every person of African descent carries the pain in their DNA. The pain of the continent being raped for resources and forgotten by the rest of the world. I came to Ghana to make sense of my identity and I find that the world has largely left Africa to deteriorate while glorifying places like England and America. People here are barely surviving, materially, mentally, emotionally, because Africa is not truly a part of the global community. And today is the first time in my life I can truly she'd tears because my ancestors couldn't. They had to be strong for their children. Remember Africa..remember black people are your brothers and sisters not just extras on the landscape. Send us love and light because our wounds are deep and many. We are all family...family embraces and forgives and admits wrongs for the the sake of unity. Separation is an illusion. The world must heal toward UNITY.

Their spirit lives on, due to the stories passed down from generation to generation and Xavier captures this in his passionate song. This is the Great South Land of the Holy Spirit ie. "set apart".

Today I listened to this song while hanging upside down from an old weeping willow tree, meditating on the souls of animals. Just then a small black squirrel approached me and we began to sing in unison as the ancestral winds blew.
Xavier Rudd is one of my three all time favourite artist. So very beautiful voice and spirit bird goes straight to my heart. It's for me both a sad and a happy song with promises of something bigger, larger, spiritual higher power to come and guide those who have last their way that was given to them by MotherEarth. I have been on a spiritual travel all my life but didn't realised that until 5 years ago. Now I'm following "Mother" on the way that was mentioned for me. It is the best and most greatest things I've ever done. When you find your spiritual you, you soon realise that you/We are something more greater and larger and bigger than the "ordinary people/Life" and the "wheel" that everyone is forced and imprented since childhood to believe as the one and only way to go in life is of course a Great lie and nothing more than a exercise of power from the government and rulers of the country we live in. They don't want us to be free for real because in that way we would be a Disturbing and painful reminder of their lies,propaganda, money laundry and many other things. We who see would also be a enormously risky to be the one's whom waking up others from the drowsiness that "They" put us in. We who have gone a different path in life see this. Especially me because I am a man who wakes people and often are people drawn to me for guidance. I don't mean to be bragging but that's my ticket in life to be a good listener and to be a "waker" and I can't help it, it is also a lot fun to disturb these kind of things/people. I cannot help myself but to pee in the "lasting and bleeding wounds" that the "Governing" actually creates.
