It's funny that this was the fight to make at the end of 2020 when Adesanya beat Costa and Whittaker beat Cannonier, but then we basically got two filler fights at the crop of the middleweight division, as Izzy took on Vettori and Rob took on Gastelum. Now that those fillers are out of the way, we can get to the fight that was meant to happen in the first place.
I swear after watching it here izzy didn’t look like Jim’s in that fight. He looked dull. I believe if he goes up again and make the weight and everything goes fine he will definitely do better.
Styles make fights. Jan's unusual striking style (which was defensively sound) flustered Izzy, that combined with the power factor and takedown threat made Izzy hesitant. And then you had old man Glover just dismantle Jan in their fight on account of the takedown threat and old man strength.
Crazy how Izzy couldn't catch Jan but slow old Glover rocked him with a left hook. Goes to show how much a takedown threat can effect the opponents striking defense.
It's still wild to me that people 1) think Romero somehow won that fight by standing still for 97% of the time and throwing 2 combos in 25 minutes, and 2) actually blame Izzy when Romero was literally standing like a statue in the middle of the octagon for extended periods. Romero's leg was also buckling, him doing a 5 second dance a day later doesn't mean shit lmao.

Striking wise, Bobby has no chance. His main techniques are jab, cross and high kick. Which won't work agains Izzy cause he is always moving his head backwards. Explosive jabs might work be he also counters that with better precision. The only hope Bobby has is to wrestle and use BJJ and not to be too obvious while going for the legs cos he is going to get kneed. Good luck to both fighter. But this is going to be KO Izzy by knee.

Rob was the first to finish Jacaré in UFC when Jacare was finishing people like crazy and was 8-1 in the UFC at the time, the only loss was split decision against Yoel. Rob was also the second to finish Brunson (on a 5 fight win streak) who was also 8-1 in the UFC at that time, the only loss is by KO against Yoel. Rob also finished Brad Tavares while Izzy couldn't. Izzy ran a marathon against Yoel.
Here's my feeling of what's going to be diff. in this fight: Rob is going to go right at it as soon as the bell rings 🔔 trying to keep Adesanya from establishing his pace. Izzy will incorporate wrestling offensively. Should be a banger!

Styles make fights. Jan's unusual striking style (which was defensively sound) flustered Izzy, that combined with the power factor and takedown threat made Izzy hesitant. And then you had old man Glover just dismantle Jan in their fight on account of the takedown threat and old man strength.
Crazy how Izzy couldn't catch Jan but slow old Glover rocked him with a left hook. Goes to show how much a takedown threat can effect the opponents striking defense.

It's still wild to me that people 1) think Romero somehow won that fight by standing still for 97% of the time and throwing 2 combos in 25 minutes, and 2) actually blame Izzy when Romero was literally standing like a statue in the middle of the octagon for extended periods.

He absolutely has a chance. If you look at his career and especially his recent performances, it's pretty evident rob was not fighting like himself that night. The blitzing was constant and his usual feints, safe long jabs, and striking variety were nowhere to be found. I think we'll see a very different version of Bobby this time. Also I have a suspicion the first round is gonna be pretty boring.

As for the blitzing, maybe he has to time it better, because he had to cover distance somehow due to reach disadvantage. My armchair opinion is, Rob had nothing for isreal on the feet, he has to wrestling and clinch over and over again

Striking wise, Bobby has no chance. His main techniques are jab, cross and high kick. Which won't work agains Izzy cause he is always moving his head backwards. If he also tries the same combination with leg kicks, he will just leave himself open for counters. You also can't trade regular jabs with Izzy bcos he fight iq is much higher. Explosive jabs might work be he also counters that with better precision. The only hope Bobby has is to wrestle and use BJJ and not to be too obvious while going for the legs cos he is going to get kneed. Good luck to both fighter. But this is going to be KO Izzy by knee.

Rob was the first to finish Jacaré in UFC when Jacare was finishing people like crazy and was 8-1 in the UFC at the time, the only loss was split decision against Yoel. Rob was also the second to finish Brunson (on a 5 fight win streak) who was also 8-1 in the UFC at that time, the only loss is by KO against Yoel. Rob also finished Brad Tavares while Izzy couldn't. Izzy ran a marathon against Yoel.
Here's my feeling of what's going to be diff. in this fight:

I like really like Whittaker tbh. Don't really know anybody else that can fight his fighting style and it suit them as great as it does him. He has the knockout power.. It's there, but he just doesn't finish from what it looks like. He has quite a few fights that came down to the very last round that he had few chances to finish the fight but Ultimately had it come down to the judges. Like I said, I like the guy and he's a good fighter.. but Izzy's gonna take the W again.💯💯
