From what I can find, most of the ribbons were introduced after 1961, although the Navy Unit Commendation was authorized in 1944 and the Army Good Conduct was prior to WWII. Biggest let down for me was why any dealer would include INB merchandise in their offerings.
Thanks for the info, Doug. I think they are including the INB stuff at valuations that are equivalent to the raw coin's value, not a graded coin's value. I see your point, though
I have to admit I liked the WW2 theme. I am a WW2 history nut. I thought the neatest thing happened to be the letters to the Yorktown. Overall, I have to admit I think each bag was of equal value. Nothing in them spoke WOAH so and so hands down won. I liked the individual touches each bag had. Silver seekers felt more like an actual grab bag to me with more random stuff, Robs seemed to have more coins, where as yours had that WW2 collection which I personally enjoyed watching you unbox.
@@Silverpicker can I buy those 1993 letters. I was born 05/25/1993 and have been collecting 1993 coins of all denominations and Bills and would be great to have those to start a 1993 stamp collection
The bird in the New Zealand sixpence is a huia bird (now extinct) and the Australian shilling has a ram not a buffalo. Also the Australian florin has an emu flanking the right.
The Philippines became a US Territory after the Spanish-American War, and as such the US produced the coinage and currency. They were granted Independence on July 4th,1946.
watched you and seekers, so far I got to give it to:.... YOU ..WHY:...You got more silver, & a slightly nicer Walker, as well as I like the theme, however we will see after Rob's Video, I will be back to put all 3 in order, this was fun & passed some time/helps your time for channel, Thanks!
Silverpicker Easy mistake to make for someone who isn’t Australian or knows a lot about Australia. I’m not going to blame you for making a mistake. I was shocked that across the 3 bags there wasn’t a 1966 Silver Australian 50c coin. Given how crazy common they are, and being 60% silver I thought at least one of them would have them. They are beautiful coins, and I am lucky enough to have 3 or 4 of them. Though, at over 166 million minted they wouldn’t add any value to the bags, so I guess that is why there aren’t any, that and there wouldn’t be many in the States.
No, you were right to begin with, that's definitely an emu on the Australian coat of arms on the Florin obverse coz its an Australian native but ostriches aren't & its a Merino sheep (ram) on the shilling). The Aussie coins are actually sterling silver too, all pre-decimal Aussie coins are!
That's the beauty of the hobby, though. Everybody likes a different corner of Numismatics. I also liked my bag the best (though I did like some of the obsolete coinage the other two got)!
@@Silverpicker very true, I'm still new to the hobby but I find more I want to collect every day! (Especially when I watch your videos lol) thanks for making videos! They helped me get into coins. I want to get into paper currency as well, those Japanese occupancy notes are awesome!
As far as the uniform stuff goes: The patch is from the 4th Marine Division. The pin is for an Airman First Class (A1C) and it seems pretty modern. As far as the two racks they are as follow: The top one has from left to right an European-African-Middle Eastern campaign medal with four campaign stars, and an Army Good Conduct Medal. That means he fought in four different campaigns throughout the war. The other rack, from left to right and top to bottom, has Navy Meritourious Unit Commendation Medal with 1 bronze star, meaning second awards, a Navy Unit Commendation Medal, a Navy Recruiting Service Ribbon, a Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, those were not issued until 1980 and retroactively up to 1974, and the last ribbon is a Navy Efficiency Ribbon, or E ribbon and it denotes service in a ship that won an efficiency competition, also began issue in 1974, so that rack is much more modern.
Wow that's so helpful Christopher! Thank you so much! Super interesting. So the stars on the ribbons signifies the number of times they were awarded that ribbon?
Silverpicker depends on the appurtenance, or bronze piece on ribbons like oak leaves, stars, numbers, etc., in the case of stars on campaign medals it’s is only awarded once and the stars just denote how many campaigns you participated in, those are mainly separated by geographical location and dates. Others like the Navy Unit Commendation, having one star means that your unit received two of the same medal. If you have any more questions about anything military related that you come across, especially Army, I’d be happy to help you identify it, I really enjoy your channel and have a bit of knowledge when it comes to military history and uniforms.

Thanks Mark! I pretty much agree entirely with your assessment lol
I love the history inwould love to see you do more stuff with historic items as well with coins
Thanks! Maybe I will do some bonus videos on the historic stuff I have
@@Silverpicker can I buy those 1993 letters. I was born 05/25/1993 and have been collecting 1993 coins of all denominations and Bills and would be great to have those to start a 1993 stamp collection
@@Silverpicker RFT got $126 in stuff, he beat you not by much though
Yup I like the historical stuff too
It is true they did make the 43,44,and 45 pennies from spent shell casings
My bad it was 44,45,and 46
I found another grab bag seller that I bought a 500 bag from with 800+ worth of coins in 😍
The bird in the New Zealand sixpence is a huia bird (now extinct) and the Australian shilling has a ram not a buffalo. Also the Australian florin has an emu flanking the right.
Awesome grab bag.Love all the WW2 items.
Thanks Kevin!
I absolutely love your enthusiasm!
Epic video guys!
Thanks John!
Thanks for the reply, Silverpicker! Awesome! Really looking forward on your future videos.
The Philippines became a US Territory after the Spanish-American War, and as such the US produced the coinage and currency. They were granted Independence on July 4th,1946.
You guys super ill kept looking your channel
Good video 👍
Super 👍👍👍
I'm not a WWII buff but you did have some interesting finds! But in my opinion RFT came in first, you second and silver seeker third!
Thanks Ron! Glad you enjoyed. Seems a lot of people think Rob won. That's ok because we all got a good value
I believe the Dutch note is from maybe French or Dutch colonies and also I enjoy the historical stuff
Totals:
SP: $123.75 RFT: $126 SS: $103.50
RFT wins!
watched you and seekers, so far I got to give it to:.... YOU ..WHY:...You got more silver, & a slightly nicer Walker, as well as I like the theme, however we will see after Rob's Video, I will be back to put all 3 in order, this was fun & passed some time/helps your time for channel, Thanks!
Already friended to all 3 of you for a while now. Ive been wanting to try a $100 grad bag from that seller. Mabey here soon. Thanks for sharing.
IT IS AN EMU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a couple of examples of each of those Australian coins.
Ahhh I should have stuck with my first instinct!
Cool grab bag. Do think I like RFT a little better. I just started collecting and the set with the nickels and pennies was really cool.
Thanks Scott! I think a lot of people agree with you lol
Thanks Matt!
Those Japanese bills are super pretty! I want! And yes to the Historical stuff
Not sure how people are saying you came third, this bag has definitely been my favorite!!
As far as the uniform stuff goes:
The patch is from the 4th Marine Division.
The pin is for an Airman First Class (A1C) and it seems pretty modern.
As far as the two racks they are as follow:
The top one has from left to right an European-African-Middle Eastern campaign medal with four campaign stars, and an Army Good Conduct Medal.
