- Today's Storytime is about my trip to The Netherlands & more! Seeing my family after all these months was such a treat! On top of that, sitting together with Joost van den Broek at Sandlane Recording Facilities and writing & recording music together was a lot of fun!
In the meantime, Nala was busy in Sweden & I got to go on a holiday with Hannes & Freja as well. Hope you all enjoy this episode of Saturday Storytime!

Fascinating, being a scientist and a biology teacher for 35 years,I wondered why i rarely get chills listening to music. BUT your voice does it nearly everytime even when ive heard the same song hundreds of times.You dont just sing ,you absorb emotions around you and concentrate them .When you sing it is not just your vocal chords but your soul which connects to your audience hey presto floorgasm. Very special person and artist : a total force or nature

Nightwish met 'onze Floor' verdient in Nederland nog meer podium. Ik hoop heel stiekem dat je deelnemer zal zijn op het Eurovisie Songfestival. Desnoods een duet met Tim Akkerman of Henk Poort. Europa zal uit zijn dak gaan. Wat een stem! We mogen trots op je zijn Floor!
I have never been a person who paid much attention to popular culture, but I connected with both you and Nightwish early on without fully understanding why. The penny dropped as to why when you talked about being a highly sensitive person. Now I understand why the connection fits. We share some challenges. I listen to Marko and Tuomas speak and I realize that I share traits with them as well.
The world is not a friendly place for exceptional people. I congratulate you on turning your exceptionalism into success. I went the opposite way and suppressed it so that I might meet the expectations of others.
Nightwish has become my intellectual indulgence, like a box of chocolates filled with exotic flavours. Thank you for that.
Once again Floor, you are so special to share with all of us fans. These are some very personal touches you have allowed us to see and make us all feel like we are a part of your life. More than fans! You treat us like we are personal friends and family. I have met and know many well known and respected musicians and have never come across one with so much willingness to invite their fans to truly see who they really are under the makeup and behind the stage persona's. You are one of a kind with a beautiful soul my lady! Nightwish is lucky to have called you at the perfect moment when you were available. I personally think it was fate. So great to see you are working with Joost. He is a brilliant musician and seems to be a wonderful man as well. After seeing this we are all expecting BIG & WONDERFUL things in the future! No pressure, just excitement and anticipation of amazing music to come. I loved everything that both of you have done with all of Arjen's musical projects. Can't wait! Freja is getting so big. She is going to be tall like you, or should I say statuesque! Yes that is definitely the correct word. Hope Hannes is doing well and the Sabaton tour kicks ass. You being a highly sensitive person that has been, and still maintains such a demanding and stressful line of work (music business, being the frontwoman of a megaband, solo projects, traveling etc etc) is beyond understanding for me. It is so impressive. It inspires me who easily bends under to stress and stress-related diseases to work towards a work day with normal or full working hours. It can be done, as long as you know your limits and take your breaks. Lots of love to you Floor
Floor, I can’t explain it but your voice brings me such peace. It’s like a summer rain, or snow gently tapping on the window. I saw Nightwish about 3 months ago on RUclips for the very first time. Waken 2013, Ghost Love Score. I’ve gotten every album with you on it. ‘We love you’

I love all episodes but I really enjoyed this one in particular more, how you show that sensitive humane part that if all people in the world were like that this definitely would be a better world !! Love the kittens and the dog, nature and pretty much everything , right in my alley !!!

Just listened to Nightwish for the first time last night. I'm totally stunned by the fact that several years after these recordings, I'm just now discovering you.
WOW!! I can't for the life of me find even the tiniest thing that was less than absolutely perfect with the performances that I watched/ listened to. Excellent production quality, band cohesiveness, point for point professionalism in every aspect and YOU COMMAND A VOICE THE LIKE OF WHICH I'VE NEVER HEARD.

The woodlands are my sanity as well. When the world gets a bit much, the trees calm me. Thank you Floor for this video. and thamk you and Nightwish for your music. My son has been in and out of hospital over the last 18 years and Nightwish songs have helped keep me sane in some dark times over the last few years, so I could function and be there for my family.
@Susan Moran I used to work in forestry and tree surgery until a shoulder injury forced me into an office job. So now I run to the woods to get some sanity back when I get out of the office.
Hearing you talk about your high sensitivity really made something click in my brain about the way you can really channel the emotions of whatever song you’re singing, be that your own or someone else’s. I’m probably nearer the other side of the spectrum, with relatively low sensitivity, but I can really tell, especially when you’re live, that you almost feed off the emotions of the audience (that sounded slightly morbid oops😂) and use that energy to really fit into a “role”/“character” that you portray on stage, be that the powerful, larger than life warrior or the smaller, sensitive and nurturing mother-like figure. You’re a beautiful soul and you seem to channel emotions in your voice that hit me hard.
Floor, love, the reason why you are able to sing the way you do---you grasp the emotional intent of the writer, the direction of the music. You are the writer's voice. The writer's thoughts are yours. The Poet and Pendulum is the best example of what I mean. Also How's the Heart. It means, for me, that whenever I have the rope in my hands, you show up at the door with kerosene and matches. That's how you use your High Sensitivity.
I agree. Floor is not only a beautiful voice, she can transmit feelings through her singing. Thanks to her high sensitivity she is capable to transmit feelings through her voice, making her the incredibly amazing singer she is!

EuFlooria brings tears to my eyes almost every time I hear her beautiful voice. I feel very happy to be alive(I'm 77 and beat Covid-so far, fingers crossed)at the same time she is.

high sensitive, so you can feel emotions or some situations better then avarage.....but you not only can feel them but you can send them aswel and that is exactly what you are doing when you're on stage......you pierce every one who listen to you right in the hart......an out of this world voice is great but when you can add emotion with it like you do.....that's pure magic....nice tatts btw

Floor, another great video on your personal life during quarantine. Glad you finally got to get home to visit with your family. You are a lady after my own heart with going out into nature to recharge the batteries with just the sound of animals and the breeze rustling through the leaves in the trees.
I will be having my heart surgery in a few months, I'm highly sensitive, stressed out, very anxious, but your videos and music calm me down quite a lot, so thank you for being here for us! You're my favorite singer and have shaped my life and taste of music to the greatest heights. I'm SO lucky to have found you :)

Thank you for talking about HSP Floor! There are so many misconceptions on this topic and the way you describe it is how I recognize it as well. The woods help me to calm down in situations where my brain and body are inuntated. It is a place where I feel safe and I am able to let go all the emotions that have been building up inside me. Love how you do the same!

I just “discovered you” last week for the first time after seeing the Ghost Love Score video which I can only describe as assaulting my senses in the most beautiful way and I had chills so many times. Now you are my favourite singer and I look forward to pouring myself into your existing library and waiting for more to come. At 63 years old, I used to consider myself rather knowledgeable about heavy metal/hard rock music....until about two weeks ago one of the guys that does reaction videos on RUclips, reacted to "Ghost Love Score"....and I was totally blown away by the song. Your voice is amazing...and it has a way of just making your listener's get carried of to another plain of joy and bliss!
I subscribed....and look forward to more of your videos, but also your music. Oh...I live in Austin Texas....and yes...during the summer, it get very hot here....20 of August's 21 days have been over 100° F.... that's what 37° c.

Lieve Floor,geweldig dat je zo open deelt over je hoog sensitiviteit 👏 En ook helemaal herkenbaar wat je vertelt over de behoefte aan de rust in de natuur én de emoties oppikken van anderen en soms ongewild met je meenemen. Ik heb de ziekte ME in een ernstige vorm en dan is die kant van de hoog sensitiviteit niet handig,erg belastend zelfs. Maar idd,het is een beetje te leren om jezelf wat meer af te sluiten voor de emoties van de ander. Btw,ik geniet zo enorm van je muziek,zowel van jouzelf als van Nightwish! It’s so cool to see Hannes and yourself in this aspect. You are both larger than life on stage and then seeing you together in your family/home element cooking and doing things on your property (which is beautiful by the way) just makes you realize how everyone is different ...but also the same. I am ridiculously excited to see you and Joost back together again. I know whatever you're working on is going to be interesting and no doubt make me cry as well. Maybe I'm Highly Sensitive too? I, too have always been a HSP but only discovered a couple years ago that it is an actual trait, which has started me on my journey of learning more about it and how to navigate it in a positive way that works best for me. Knowing how careful you and Hannes are with Freja thanks for the glimpses. Can't wait to see what you and Joost create, I can only imagine how happy that studio was with him at the piano and you singing. You are so inspiring and motivating! Your music saved me in a few very dark time periods. Your vlogs are so inspiring, and shows how much you care about your fans. You put so much effort into them.
And you are a role model. Your attitude, your humble personality, and your positivity. You just make me want to work extremely hard to achieve my goals one day.
I am a very (and i mean, extremely) sensitive person too, and crying/panic attack/extreme emotions are sometimes triggered by the most trivial things. I was bullied because of it for a long time. Crying over everything all the time made it worse, but i could not deal with it, and as a child i didn't even know such thing actually exists. It came with an addition of strong social anxiety. You had a huge role in accepting myself the way i am, and trying to benefit from these things. I wish you and your family all the best, and thank you for all the effort you put into communicating with fans during quarantine.

Do you meditate sometimes to help with your high sensitivity? I find it very helpful and relieving but it sure takes time and discipline so I guess your schedule doesn't always allow you to do so... anyway, reading about it definitely helps and to each person his/her own trick! Let's be proud of our super wired brains :)

I understand what you are talking about, I am also a highly sensitive person. On the one hand it is a blessing and on the other hand it is a curse. I love how you show nature, these beautiful wildflowers or a walk in the woods, I get blurry .... These tattoos are cool, well done.I like the song already.
