Got a heads up for Eric Balfour and Dennis Hopper. And yes I realize that Dennis is dead. What they are talking about is not, I repeat , is not a suicide shift. A heel/toe clutch was a clutch that had a spring tension system that allowed you to disengage the clutch and leave it disengaged even at a dead stop. The shift lever was mounted on the tank. When people decided to lighten?/chop their bikes they got rid of the tank shift and put a lever directly off the transmission. And then they got rid of the heel/toe clutch system as it was also to much weight. What they did was just install a single lever that was spring actuated. Push the lever forward and the clutch would disengage. Release the lever and the spring would pull it back to re-engage the clutch. If you were at a stop light or anywhere where you were wanting to make a left turn you would engage that lever to disengage the clutch while leaving the bike in gear. If you kept the bike in gear you would have to keep your foot on that clutch lever until such time as you wanted to go. This meant balancing your bike with your right foot only until it was time to go as your left foot was on that lever. If for any reason your bike would start tipping to the left before it was time to go, and you had to take your foot off the clutch lever, then you ended up going to your left as that was normally the direction your wheel was facing. When this happened and there was oncoming traffic, well then BOOM. Suicide. That is todays bit of real life history. Been there done that. Nuff said.

thanks for that, i was totally confused when i saw that bike, like i think it is beyond an amateur like me, i think eric did a good job learning how to ride that as fast as he did, i couldnt enjoy that ride, just sayin. but loved all the other bikes. thanks for watching!

Love the bikes, one of the few bike based movies that isn't Z grade crap, like that abomination that Chuck Zito made and "starred" in. And it's good to see Dennis Hopper in a movie that he's actually enjoying making.
    RIP.

@@ghostsofVTurbexSkysthelimitvid Yep, that's Zito. Ex 81 and still trying to recapture those times. I don't see how making that ultra-crap movie would help in that department, but each to their own, I suppose. Keep up the good work, that was probably the most enjoyable and entertaining thing I've seen on FaceTube for a while.👍

Definitely a great biker flick. The director/writer Larry Bishop is Joey's son and he was great in this picture. If I was in an outlaw MC, I would want Pistolero as my Prez.
This mini doc is in the extras section of the DVD and was really cool to see again.
PS, Larry Bishop was in several biker movies going all the way back to the seventies.
