Something I forgot to mention: the Statue is found near a pond. The Compendium entry for Fairies says that they're often mistaken for fireflies. The pond near the statue is called "Firly Pond" (Fir(ef)ly), and in Japanese "Firefly Pond", and is full of fireflies! (For those asking, the thumbnail art is concept artwork for the Statue from Master Works!)

So the statue may have been a god, just like Malanya, but instead of bringing horses back to life, people came and gave it money to revive their dead relatives. And the statue tells us the rest. Wow, really interesting theory, also, very creepy thumbnail 🖒

The horned statue made me so uneasy that I refused to use it the entire game. I was sure that overusing his service would eventually backfire. I was shocked when the Great Deku Tree mentioned him. lol
I think I found the demon. He is both a malevolent deity dedicated for trading magical gifts for rupees, and he also is a little devil. That's right, the Horned Statue is Malo, owner of the Malo-Mart
I had loads of hearts by the time I found it lol... seriously, one of my last quests, and I even forgot it was a thing until I used a guide to find out what quests I was missing 😂
I kind of like the canon where Hylia gifted her the ability to care for horses knowing that they’re sacred and how much they’ve helped Link in all of his lifetimes It seems playful enough to threaten them that they are capable of punishing those who mistreat horses just so Link keeps it in the back of his mind to honor the horse for the aid it gives him
The statue kind of reminded me of the "monster" who is accused of kidnapping a young girl in Skyward Sword. He wanted Link to collect happiness to free him of his curse or something. I don't quite remember what he needed them for. The more happiness Link brought to him, the greater the gifts that he would bestow upon Link.
sluttyMapleSyrup Honestly I'd say it’s a good deal darker, especially since who knows how many people were killed in TP. In Majora's Mask... well not many people have actually died, surprisingly enough.
I get the feeling that the reason the entity was sealed by Hylia rather than destroyed is specifically because he would be useful to Link. Perhaps Link is the only one who can hear the statue because he's the only one who can safely use his services.
Since link is the only one that’s able to communicate with the statue for such a long time the statue is probably unwilling to take away the base hearts because otherwise if link dies there’s not gonna be any more rupees
He probably is super happy to talk to someone after who knows how much time. Could have been 100 or maybe longer. Being alone for even a few months is enough to drive most people insane. Let alone decades. Poor statue god.
I think of another person in the Zelda franchise: one that has an eternal smile and hands folded together. A dealer of life in other forms... The Happy Mask salesman of Majora's Mask. He collects the masks of those brought back with the Song of Healing and isnt necessarily evil but comes from a land where he carries an evil entity upon him Majoras mask. But thats just a theory...
I found this statue early on and had a heart vessel taken and I was so worried I loaded the last game before I saw it and never went back,,, and I’ve logged 100+ hours by now

Hana Song I understand, he’s basically a demonic businessman. He manages to scam you out of twenty Rupees for his own purposes, whether it’s a massive stockpile of Rupees he plans on using later on in order to buy the services of beings just as powerful as him if not more so in order to most likely break the curse that keeps him trapped in that stone statue. Which means that even gods and demons have shrewd businessman.
Very few fates in fiction bring more terror and dread than conscious but immobile immortality. For Zelda to have trapped the Calamity for a whole century while completely alone and coming out of it even a little bit sane must take insane mental fortitude and still makes her one of my fave Zeldas
Interesting! I've never thought of Rupees having magical properties. I always thought it was more the act of giving an offering to the Great Fairies that gave them power, playing off of the idea that it's worship from mortal beings that gives gods their power. The greater the offering, the stronger one's intent to worship, and thus, the stronger the fairies become. As mysterious as Rupees are though, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they're magical.
If they were not magickal in nature, Rupoors wouldn't make sense. How would owning a Rupoor cause you to lose money? I think that Rupoors, when in close proximity, destroy/drain away the energy inside of Rupees, thus rendering them less valuable/useless. Combine that with the magickal armor, fairy fountains, etc. and it seems like not only do Rupees have magickal properties, but it is that magickal property which is the currency of the world.
I always assumed it was the same creature that cursed Jovani and the Skulltula Family and that years of being a statue mellowed him out (or he refuses to trade when you're at the minimum Health/Stamina because it lets him do his business without ticking off Hylia)
@Emily Haught imagine going down this path and instead of seeing it next to the path, you just see a round shadow. Until you look up and see the statue floating beneath a huge red balloon.
I actually got the Master Sword via the statue. I temporarily converted all my stamina upgrades into heart upgrades, went to the Korok Forest and pulled it easily and went back to the statue and converted everything back to normal.
the god idea isnt just in the japanese version! when link speaks to the statue he says ‘there are those that still pray to me’, implying that people did used to pray to him as they would the goddess hylia or the horse god. i know this video’s over a year old but just wanted to share :)
Well, not exactly like Goddess Hylia because they would be praying to an evil entity, a demon, so they would have been evil people worshipping an evil god or demon, not for nothing he would have been trapped by Hylia, and nowadays it would be the same with the people that still pray to him
"a merchant of souls and rupees?" sounds like OoT's Poe Salesman (in the Adult-Market, with the one red eye)...sure, Poe's arent necessarily 'alive', but you can sell their Spirits to him for rupees (or if you give 10 Big Poes to him, a Bottle)...he also speaks in the 'sane' manner you mention from the statue, calm yet with a sense of humor ("if i were as handsome as you, young man, id be running a Very Different business, heh heh" or something along those lines)...im actually surprised that i thought of something that Wasnt covered in a Zeltik video xD
Maybe the horned statue doesn't want to harm Link, because Link's intentions and motivations are pure. Figures in myth are frequently like that: benevolent if you're the right sort of person, but absolutely has potential for malevolent deeds if you're "wicked" in some way. And what's wicked may vary from figure to figure. I could absolutely see there being a Great Fairy who will happily help you by way of rupees, if you need it for something good (like, beyond Link, maybe this Fairy would be totally chill if someone needed to feed their family or something,) but if you're literally just being greedy, you're gettin cursed.
I really appreciate that this video makes logical conclusions, instead of just settling on the first easy possibility and going "DARK CREATURE? EVIL STATUE? SAME CHARACTER!!"
I love the idea of the horned statue being a Great Fairy. Shame we couldn’t see it as a Great Fairy, using a mild amount a rupees (maybe 100-200) to open its bud. Normally, when the Great Fairies’ buds are opened, an ominous smog emanates from the pod within, before the Great Fairy emerges. How cool would it have been if we saw a corrupt fairy emerge from the bud?
What if they had something where the trades were overpriced, but you could complete some sidequest to free him, after which he is grateful and gives you a discount.
He also teaches you the song of healing, a song that turns the souls of the dead into masks. And what does he sell? Masks. Maybe he ended up in hyrule, with his transformation masks enraging Hylia
Same lol, since I saw the statue I just felt like it was too sinister and weird to be realy beneficial for me, I just thought he would steal my hearts and stamina and I just never gave him any for the rest of the game
I think it's important to be familiar with some of the aspects of the Shinto faith when trying to discern this. You made a note that the translation from Japanese calls the being in statue a "god", which I am guessing the word "kami" was used in Japanese? The Shinto faith is VERY different from Western concepts of "gods" to the point that "kami" can be translated as either "god" OR "spirit". In Shinto, spirits and Gods are often local, and vary in power and capability depending on what they are "kami" of, and how many people give them offerings. In Shinto, a spirit and a "god" are essentially the SAME THING, with the main distinction usually being how much worship one is receiving. So for example, a "kami" with MANY worshipers is much more like "God" status, and a "kami" with very few worshippers or offerings would be "spirit" status, however if they are able to attain more worshippers, this kami would become more like a "god" kami. It's sort of like "ranks"... they are all the same, but the way the word "kami" is translated is a denotation of RANK, and to figure that out you have to know the context of the worship. In your video, you compare the Great Fairies, Hylia, the creature trapped in the stone, etc. and you seem really hung up on the difference between "God" and "spirit" or "fairy" but I just want to tell you that these probably mean very similar things in the Japanese translation. For example, the Great Fairys probably ARE also considered "kami", which can translate as god or spirit. My point is that Hylia, the being in the statue, the Great Fairies, and Malanya are ALLLLL "kami"... aka, gods or spirits. It's the same thing. To clarify, in the English translation, Malanya is translated calling himself a "god" because his status as a spiritual being is much higher rank than some of the other great fairies, and we know this because the people build their stables in his image and name a bridge after him, and pass tales on him along through word of mouth. This would elevate a "kami" to be more revered like a god. My POINT is that "Great fairies" and "Malanya" and maybe even "Hylia" are probably the SAME type of being (kami, in Japanese), but one of them is a higher "rank" and receives more worship (Hylia is the most powerful of all the kami > then lesser beings like Malanya would be lower in rank > and the Great Fairy is likely lower than Malanya). It's a very subtle translation tic that most people wouldn't really pick up on unless they are familiar with the Shinto beliefs. But the biggest point is that THERE IS NOT MUCH TRANSLATION DIFFERENCE between "god" or "spirit" so Malanya being translated as "god" is probably because Malanya is a much more idolized "kami".... or the statue calling itself "god" in Japanese is not really that strange, and can still mean it's a Great Fairy... at the end of the day they are ALL "kami"... Anyway, it's not that big of a deal, I just though you would find it interesting. I think you are right, that the being in the statue is some sort of old, probably corrupt or mischievous "kami" that was really similar to the fairies, or a type of fairy.
You could have shortened this comment substantially. You said the same thing in slightly different ways around 3 times. Regardless, I agree with you completely.
I was thinking a similar idea but was going to comment with how the statue is a "god" and placed in stone form. So it was making me wonder if it was a higher rank God since the Goddess Hylia is obviously also a stone statue with the mini statuettes woven throughout Hyrule in BotW. I'm curious as to how the Hateno Statue got to its present location (curse, spirit got stuck there, etc)
There are plenty of gods in the zelda series, starting in SS with the dragons. Pretty sure the horned statue sis one of those lesser gods, the same way the dragons served Hylia and Hylia served the 3 golden goddesses.
I don't disagree with you, but I also think it's worth considering how the Zelda universe draws a lot from European cultures (clothing, use of monuments, architecture -- aside from the homes seen in Kakariko village..); the distinction between spirit, fairies, and gods might be necessary in this case. Gods are seen as an omnipotent force, while spirits and fairies are subsidiaries of them. Spirits and fairies were perceived to be more playful, if not mischievous entities (Great Fairy anyone?), so it doesn't seem too much of a stretch to try and define what kind of being the statue is. Fairies can also be seen as fallen "angelic" creatures that go somewhere in between something divine and something demonic. Bargaining with one's life force is a veryyy tight rope to walk on, but the creature in the statue *does* abide by the rules set in the deal. It could be dangerous but it plays a fair trade. I would also argue that Malanya (although with good intentions towards horses) is a self-proclaimed god with a peculiar personalty and frequent outbursts, betraying the fact that he is actually a spirit/fairy acting under pretense (probably for his own amusement). I don't think he's a very reliable character in this sense. But the main thing that doesn't seem to sit right is that Shintoism focuses mainly on ancestral worship, and that there is no supreme entity to believe in. Instead BOTW is rooted in the idea that there's an afterlife; Zelda should be able to use the triforce because she is Hylia reincarnate. Hylia also does not seem to be an entity that presides in nature (i.e. god/goddess of the sun). While there are other entities that exist all throughout Hyrule itself, the goddess Hylia seems to be the single, powerful deity that has created and oversees the world she created. Not that the Japanese creators couldn't have drawn from Shinto beliefs, but the connection to a single religion is more complicated than it seems. It would be interesting to know if any Japanese speakers could say if there are any notable distinctions between spirits, fairies, and gods in the original BOTW script.
I'm torn between chaotic neutral and neutral evil. On the one hand, he doesn't really seem all that chaotic. His actions are regular, predictable, and almost exploitable. On the other, he's not really all that evil, either.

5:46 The story of Jovani reminds me of the story of Midas. I’m actually surprised how many people don’t know about Midas. My grandmother would always tell me the legend. Midas was a king and he lived a beautiful life with his daughter. But he wasn’t happy with it. He wanted more. More money. So he prayed for gold. When he woke up he went to hug his daughter. And she turned to gold. He realized his mistake and that he shouldn’t have been greedy. But it was too late. He’d already lost everything he’d loved. In his sorrow he turned himself to gold too.
Honestly, if you just want a bunch of folk tale stories with lessons, I recommend (oh lord I forgot the name and it’s gonna sound religious) Adventures from the Book of Virtues. I used to watch it as a kid and it’s not religious, it’s more just them reading stories and being like “Well how do you relate to this story and how can we learn from their mistakes?” It’s read by an ox and it’s actually kinda peaceful.
I like this theory. I like to think he was a corrupt fairy, trading "life and power" for rupees. Using the "power of rupees" he would give a person power, at the cost of their soul, that is what angered the goddess.
I am leaning more towards him being a fallen god. Perhaps he sided with Demise or sold Demise the life essence and that is why he was cursed to be the statue.
I have a theory that the rupees came from a variant luminous stones. It would explain why the fairies and the horned statue needed it in the first place to perform what they do.
Perhaps but it seems more chaotic good plus in the case of the wealthy greedy people he gave them fortune at the cost of their humanity and soul so to speak but only to an extreme sense one in which they could remorse and learn and hope to be freed should a hero with a green hat and tunic come along and do so which he does and after be it wealthy or not they are simply happy and rejoice except for the one dude cause his GF left him guess a solid gold dick wasnt enough XD then again perhaps it was and he got rid of it to be a human again how selfish XD

After using the horned statue twice (one for exchanging my stamina to a heart and the other to take it back), I swore I’d never use it again even in master mode. The story of the statue crept me out so much and I didn’t want to enable it to exploit me further. 😂

The horned statue (in fairy/god form) was probably found out on Skull Lake, I noticed in my current botw game that the same giant underwater flowers can only be found at Malanya’s location and at Skull Lake, I thought it was odd but this would make sense
Yeah that's what I thought right off the bat too. I was scrolling down expecting to see at least a few people sharing the same opinion but this is the only comment I've found.
I know this is probably wrong but, the design of the statue reminded me of Batreaux (the monster hiding in Skyloft that wants you to go do good deeds to open peoples hearts and gain crystals from them) from Skyward Sword. Anyone else?
Zeltik, I gotta pass on a combo theory about this that I think you might enjoy: part one: the horned statue is the poe keeper. He dealt with souls and money. Poes are the source of jovani's curse because they pulled his soul out and split it. (This might be why the statue doesn't want to reduce links hearts past the start-out 3: this would repeat the Jovani tragedy that probably was the reason the Poe keeper was cursed by hylaia.) It is also worth noting that souls seem to be what we are gaining from monks in botw, and pulling them from link, they almost look like poe-fire. Part 2: Melonia is the combined soul form of melon and eponia from OOT. Melon is half gerudo according to her father. Melonia has female gerudo hands, and when interacting is complete, goes lax like a puppet. This may indicate that being the daughter of neburu, melon may have became a sage-like mystic
I was thinking of the highwaymen in the second quest of Zelda 1. They say, "Your money or your life," but instead of just doing damage to Link, they permanently steal life containers.
I think the series is in need of a deep explanation of what a "God" is. They can come with something simple like "Mayor Gods" (like the Golden Goddesses) and "Minor Gods" (like the Horned Statue), and problem solved. It is not that hard...

It's the Hylia statue but with wings and horns with light emerging from the earth because There's nowere else for the light to appear because There's a wall covering It up.
I've played through the game 3 times now, even collected all 900 korok seeds and did all the shrines...... I never knew this statue existed. o_o . . . Wow, this game is Massive. xD
Most people I talk to think it's the Happy Mask Salesman being punished for his reckless pursuit of power through masks. The gods were angry with him, so they morphed him into something that would never be able to travel or die, but kept him hidden in the shadows like he always preferred.
Matt Gales the only “demonic” mask we know he owned was Majora’s Mask, and his personality type seems much more likely to be the kind that was keeping it out of the wrong hands than to use it for his own nefarious purposes. Again, people always like to assume that mysterious intentions = evil intentions.
The problem with considering the statue evil is that while sinister, it's probably the most useful vendor in the game, not even counting glitches. It can give you massive wealth if you need it, and gets a minor profit for helping you
"A god who governs life and power. That is who I used to be" He was the Triforce of Power holder who was turned into stone by a previous incarnation of Link just like Ganon was transformed into stone at the end of Wind Waker. His redemption is to help this incarnation of Link on his mission to rid Hyrule from the Malice he used to be himself.
Except there are 2 other Ganondorf's aside from the one in the Adult timeline. In the Child timeline, he died in Twilight Princess and reincarnated in Four Swords Adventure, getting trapped in the Four Sword. In the Downfall timeline, he died in Link to the Past, died again in Link Between Worlds, and died again in Zelda 1.
The Great Deku said "a bit wicked" not exactly ganondorf material, unless it;s so old and powerful, like the goddess Hylia that it can deceive one of the wisest beings in existence. My theory that if it was this, it would be a god of the Yiga. Think about it, the Yiga defected from the Sheikah and are trained in disguise and deception. It would make sense if they worshipped a god that represented their beliefs. Thats being said, it is a stretch and there is no evidence to support this. I just enjoy making these strange connections
Funny thing, I had a really hard time finding the goddess statue in hateno, and for a while I thought that demon thing was essentially there in place of one. Actually thought there was some kind of secret evil conspiracy going on for a bit, probably due to playing too much Skyrim. I mean, a major town that has no shrine to one of the divines but has a daedric one hidden on the outskirts just screams out "Daedric quest."

I never really thought about the backstory much, but I did think about why Link could hear it when no one else could. My guess is that it's because he's gained the essences beyond the base stuff.

CavvieKat Magic Armor uses Rupees as fuel in WW & TP, so it seems pretty likely they have some energy within them.
It would make a lot of sense how rupees remain consistent throughout the millennia the games take place over.
CavvieKat I agree with your thought. I personally don’t think they’re magical. They just make life more magical the more you have. 😂😂😂

Well, not exactly like Goddess Hylia because they would be praying to an evil entity, a demon, so they would have been evil people worshipping an evil god or demon, not for nothing he would have been trapped by Hylia, and nowadays it would be the same with the people that still pray to him

@Seteth Dude Vaati Should’ve been in hyrule warriors. I’m part of the Vaati for smash gang
We already saw an evil great fairy before ...
Her name was Veran.
Like the horse god? I was fucking terrified when I saw a skeleton horse pop out instead of a Great Fairy
It kind of looks likea skeleton but its an animated stable building, very bizarre
What if they had something where the trades were overpriced, but you could complete some sidequest to free him, after which he is grateful and gives you a discount.

It would be interesting to know if any Japanese speakers could say if there are any notable distinctions between spirits, fairies, and gods in the original BOTW script.
ey.this comment needs to be pinned. lol. it was bugging me quite a bit during the video too.

@@LainK1978 ya i dunno why i said fairy, i meant god. But i like your demise idea.

Avoided it entirely after, not even to see what it actually was.

I always thought that Malanya had the coolest looking fountain! My favorite color is purple, so I love their fountain the best! Malanya itself is creepy as hell though.
When I first talked to the statue it actually took my stamina and instead of asking me what I want back for the stamina, it automatically gave me a heart
Hmmm, weird.
Did you have 3 hearts and 1 extra bit of stamina? Maybe it has to do that if you only have one extra piece
"...a connection between life and money..."
Malo? The Poe collector? Tingle?!?!
anyone else purely use this guy for only getting the right amount of hearts for the master sword then right back to stamina?
Totally.
Every single game
@@MurasakiNoKami Every?
@@FahadAyaz
Yes? I prefer stamina to hearts, so after I get the sword I turn all those hearts into stamina. Going from 1 wheel straight to the full 3 is so satisfying.
@@MurasakiNoKami i bump that, why need hearts when u dont get hit? heh heh heh lol need those stamina wheels though for when you wander too far from your horse ×D
The horned statue (in fairy/god form) was probably found out on Skull Lake, I noticed in my current botw game that the same giant underwater flowers can only be found at Malanya’s location and at Skull Lake, I thought it was odd but this would make sense
wait theres 2 horned statues?
I think he sounds a bit like the Poe Merchant from Ocarina of Time
Maybe..
Was thinking the same thing.
Just what I was thinking
I immediately jumped to "This is the Poe trader" personally, and I still believe that
same
Agreed
Yeah that's what I thought right off the bat too. I was scrolling down expecting to see at least a few people sharing the same opinion but this is the only comment I've found.
Same!!
Same I’m surprised he didn’t mention that
I know this is probably wrong but, the design of the statue reminded me of Batreaux (the monster hiding in Skyloft that wants you to go do good deeds to open peoples hearts and gain crystals from them) from Skyward Sword. Anyone else?
Fun fact in Japanese Malanya's name is Maron, like Malon lol
Or Moron, lol,
Even more obvious:
In German, he's called "Mahlon"
Whoa!
@TheBlazingDiamond japanese doesnt have an L sound so they use the R because their R is a cross between an L and a D, like Ruiji, meaning Luigi
So that creepy kid who owned a shop in TP became a god of horses and the translators hid it from us?
How come I've NEVER noticed the cat on Jovani's head?
It does look turbany, and the cat revives fairly quickly
bc sparkles
Elsa Andersen You must not have freed him then! I’m talking about the cat and not Jovani. 😂
Zeltik, I gotta pass on a combo theory about this that I think you might enjoy:
part one:
the horned statue is the poe keeper.
Part 2:
Melonia is the combined soul form of melon and eponia from OOT. Melon is half gerudo according to her father. Melonia has female gerudo hands, and when interacting is complete, goes lax like a puppet. This may indicate that being the daughter of neburu, melon may have became a sage-like mystic
Perhaps the Horned Statue, when in its great fairy form, lived in Skull lake, it seems just like the place he would be found.
Ooh ooh! That reminds me!
The huge purple flowers under the water of skull lake are only found in one other place...
The water of Malanya's spring.

Yeah same here I live in the US. But different time zone
I think this could be that one Poe dealer from OoT
Only zeltik could make a 15 minute video on a single random statue... keep it up man!
It's not really a random statue, it's a unique statue with a specific purpose.
I was thinking of the highwaymen in the second quest of Zelda 1. They say, "Your money or your life," but instead of just doing damage to Link, they permanently steal life containers.
Tho the second quest, like the Master Quest, hardly fit.
Might be a reference.
I think the series is in need of a deep explanation of what a "God" is. They can come with something simple like "Mayor Gods" (like the Golden Goddesses) and "Minor Gods" (like the Horned Statue), and problem solved. It is not that hard...
Now I'm just imagining Hylia slumped over an office desk while Isabelle dumps a pile of paperwork on it.
WAIT WAIT WAIT THERES A 5TH FAIRY THE BRINGS MY HORSES BACK WTF

PotionWolf Yup. Just weird horse god.
Yay if my little babies die I can bring them back
PotionWolf i thought he was a DLC
It costs rupees
Yeah, I found him a couple days ago. I was kind of mad after giving him my 1000 rupees only to discover he isn't of the great fairies and can't upgrade my clothing.
There’s just something I love so much about this design, it’s eerie but still well designed - a round shape with interesting assets like horns and wings
It's the Hylia statue but with wings and horns with light emerging from the earth because There's nowere else for the light to appear because There's a wall covering It up.
Remembers me of Batreaux, a friendly Demon who wishes to be Human in Skyward Sword. He lives in a shack below the Graveyard of Skyloft.
Me too
Goddamn I missed a LOT of things in Breath of the Wild
Kenton Zhang same here
I didn’t even know this statue existed until my second playthrough.
I've played through the game 3 times now, even collected all 900 korok seeds and did all the shrines...... I never knew this statue existed. o_o . . . Wow, this game is Massive. xD
I still have to buy a switch and play this. It looks so good.
I once heard a whack theory that it was Majora.
Don't really buy that, but figured I'd throw that out there.
@The No.1 Guy Remember how that Mask talked after stopping the moon. I don't believe it's him either, though
Yeah besides the mask was to powerful and more insane
Not at all, Majora is stuck in a mask not a statue.
Majora does not trade, he curses.
And wants to eradicate all afterward.
@@nonoctoro4933 and didn't Link destroy the evil in the mask at the end of MM
@@SaxyCalzone True, in the Child Timeline, Majora is done for.
My friend: how did you get 30 hearts without finding all the shrines.
Me: I made a deal with the devil.
Most people I talk to think it's the Happy Mask Salesman being punished for his reckless pursuit of power through masks. The gods were angry with him, so they morphed him into something that would never be able to travel or die, but kept him hidden in the shadows like he always preferred.
Nah ... it has horns, not a grin face.
I don’t think so. The Happy Mask Salesman was a good guy, in the end. “Mysterious” doesn’t always mean “inherently evil”.
@@nonoctoro4933 But in the concept art the statue not only has a big grin but also holds hands the same way the happy masks salesman does
@@grackleking6413 he bought majora and demonic masks
Matt Gales the only “demonic” mask we know he owned was Majora’s Mask, and his personality type seems much more likely to be the kind that was keeping it out of the wrong hands than to use it for his own nefarious purposes. Again, people always like to assume that mysterious intentions = evil intentions.

The problem with considering the statue evil is that while sinister, it's probably the most useful vendor in the game, not even counting glitches. It can give you massive wealth if you need it, and gets a minor profit for helping you
Omg the twilight princess music so nostalgic❤️
"A god who governs life and power. That is who I used to be"
He was the Triforce of Power holder who was turned into stone by a previous incarnation of Link just like Ganon was transformed into stone at the end of Wind Waker.
Nash Dash Yeah...No way Ganon’s helping us out. 😂😂
@@koansinor3867 I don't think that the Yiga Clan Doesn't worship hylia. I mean, There's no problem in them worshipping her.

I really hope BotW 2 expands upon some of the mysteries within the BotW. There is so much interesting lore that could really use a fleshing out.

Since the statue doesn't take from him beyond the base, it would make sense if no one else could hear him because they have nothing to trade.
I can't be the only one upset at how he said "gold rupee" and used the **yellow** rupee's sound...right?
