    Did your Fountain Pens ever leaked during a flight? Also, what do you think about those To Do Cards?

    • @alsaikali5753

      I love the idea of those cards. I would pay money if they were created on paper that works well with fountain pens (quick drying, no bleeding or ghosting, and no feathering).

      I’ve never been in a plane, going autobahn speeds I haven’t experienced pen leakage yet tho

    Thank you showing the todo cards. I would like to try them as well. Where can I get them? I live in Switzerland.

      They’re not for sale yet, but we’re going to work on creating a nice little product out of it

    Thankfully never had a FP leak, but then if I take an FP on a flight, I’d generally take a “Traveler” to ensure (as much as I could) to lower my chances of a leak. Also regarding the “to-do cards”… Oh my goodness yes! Please make these a thing and make them happen. I would also suggest a chance to “bulk order” too (eg. A 7pack for the week, a 14 pack for a fortnight, and a 31 pack for a month… if at all possible?)
    Thank you again for sharing your journey and your experiences, and for taking us along on your little excursions, I do hope your meeting was fruitful and that it leads to an amazing partnership and adventure.

    I would never take a fountain pen on flight - firstly, the chances of damage at Customs where you have to constantly take them out is high. I use Cross Century 11 Roller balls - have managed to lose 2 of them abroad and recently replaced them with another one, a sterling silver.

      That definitely is an option too!

      I travel all over the world with mine. I’ve never had to take them out at customs.

    I have never had any problems with my fountain pens in aeroplanes. And I don't care at all whether or not they are full, empty or in between. Because even if I fill them up completely prior to the flight, they wouldn't be full anymore on my way back. The only thing I do is to take care, that they are always stored nib up when the plane is in the air.

    I set my pens nib up in my carry-on. Rarely a problem. I carry a Faber Castell metal/hexagonal pen. No damage. Easy to see.

    Thank you for the informative video. Unfortunately, I have not traveled by plane since acquiring fountain pens. I would be heartbroken if I could not take even one pen with me! I would probably play it “safe” and use a cartridge and wait to reach my destination before inserting it! 😊. But….where’s the adventure in that? As for the To-Do list, PLEASE create it! I think it’s a fabulous idea and without even realizing it, one would discover how they ever lived without it! I tend to create my own as I hate using my phone! Just another excuse to carry a fountain pen! 😊 Thanks for sharing, safe travels! God bless you!

    Would it be better to carry a vacuum filler on an airplane flight?

    I am a pilot, I have taken FP with me, most did not leak but I did have about 3 that did. Fortunately they did not stain anything, all the ink was inside the cap and grip. So i don’t take FP anymore to be honest.

    Would ink cartridge fountain pens leak? Thank you for the video.

    • @SamuelNaldi
      @SamuelNaldi  2 месяца назад +1

      I think they can leak the same way like any other Fountain Pen if there is too much pressure in the plane and the cartridge/converter/barrel isn’t fully filled and therefore has air that can pressure ink out of it

    • @deshan314
      @deshan314 2 месяца назад

      Even fountain pens with installed ink cartridges don't necessarily leak during a flight. I take care that they are stored with the nib up while flying and that they have an inner cap that seals off the nib. But I don't use them while the plane is in the air. Because the air pressure in the cabin is lower than the air pressure in the ink chamber of the fountain pen and it's likely that some drops of ink will pour out of the pen.

    I think except for pens with eyedropper filling mechanism, others are safe during flight.

    • @SamuelNaldi
      @SamuelNaldi  2 месяца назад +1

      Not sure about that 🙌🏼

    • @varadharajannadarajah

      @@SamuelNaldi Even Japanese Eyedroppers are safe, as they have shut-off valve mechanism. We need to make sure pens are upright both in flight and while opening cap after landing.

    Of course the pens you have and the pens I have are on opposite ends of the spectrum. If I were to take a pen on a plane trip, or any trip I would take only one and it would be the one that wouldn't upset me if it were to be lost, stolen or broken. To me it is just not worth the risk, same goes for a watch when traveling. I know why you do it but taking multiple fountain pens on a trip just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Anxious to see the reason you were in London.
