When you saw the other boat gaining on you and decided to change sails. That was great. Learning what your boat can do. A little competition never hurt anyone.
Appreciate the way you explained the different sails and advantages/disadvantages of each one. Really made it easy to understand and you have a great manner about you that helps quite a bit also
Was the wreck on the charts? If not, did you inform the harbormaster and send a note to Navionics of the wreck's approx location? Might prevent another sailor having the same problem, or begin the removal process of the wreck by Nantucket. Nantucket - the wharf area was completely run down by the late 1950's/early 60's. The owner of S&H Green Stamps (stamps used to be a big thing at grocery stores, you filled in a small book with stamps and could redeem at S&H store for limited selection of household items), bought the Wharf, repaired it and that's why it is in good shape and has shops on it today. Nice summary on sails.
Give that guy an ATTABOY.... everyone knows when 2 sailboats are going in the same direction....looking like the boat is doing great. Greetings from Old Lyme Ct.
😂 Love the video Billy and Sierra! Next time you decide to race us though, we want to make sure Jason and I are actually on the boat. 😉 We were home in Florida and Tahina’s former owners were sailing her for the week, so we’re requesting a do over! Will you be in Annapolis for the boat show? THEN we’ll see what the St. Francis can really do. 🏁
@@Tulasendlesssummer Well, they do have a lot of practice! They circumnavigated her from 2010-2014. We were crew for the Pacific leg and now she's ours, and our livelihood. We run all-inclusive crewed charters down in the Exumas in the fall-spring and in New England in the summer - the luxury kind and the soon-to-be cruiser-training kind. ⛵ Anyway nice meeting you guys virtually and we hope to catch you out on the water sometime and say hello!
Great show today. Your editing of lots of perspectives is pro level. All the little stuff is cool. Thank you Also I’d guess by the position of that massive crane ship that you won’t be able to travel that way because of the offshore wind farms going on… The fishermen and sailors amongst many others will be disappointed forever. Our state and fed has sold off the leases here offshore of California. It’s coming to a theater near you. Where’s Greenpeace now?
Hey Billy, glad you got the anchor ⚓️ unhooked and back on your way, but was that rust I saw on the plate on the lower part of the boat 😮 . Say it ain't so
So glad I came across your page. So much in depth information, I'm not a sailor just yet but very interested. Lots still to learn especially the terms butenjoying your travels
I am here on my lanai two weeks later waiting for your next video! I guess ya'll are getting your boat ready for the boat show in a few weeks. I sure Sea Wind is going to want your boat there at the show. So I guess there is a lot of work that needs to be done. Ok hope there is a video today. Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii!
You're absolutely right about racing. Even when you say you aren't you are. Whoever docks last buys the first round...that's how it works everywhere I've ever been.
Your general knowledge and ability to apply it makes you awesome . I’ve been watching you on / off for so many years. Great chemistry make for a great couple. Thanks for sharing your lives.( jetty to)
Ya know Billy life isn't necessarily all about competition. Sometimes you just want to relax and just have a nice leisurely sail. You'll probably figure this out in about 20 years. Until then have fun with your races. Keep the good stuff coming and give Jetty a treat for me.
You tell um Billy!!! Racin,s Raciin, Don't matter HOW ya git there, What matters is gittin there first!!! Rotf.😁😆 Another great vid guys!! Smooth sailing till next time!!!
Good to see you guys back making videos I get spoiled when you make them and then I feel like I've been waiting a long time for the next 1 -2 come out ❤ u guys
I have been vacationing on Block since I was 2 and I am now turning 50. My dream would to sail my own boat someday into New Harbor. Not to brag but we have 2 globes.
Pulling one’s chain from a tree for Christmas is an amazing idea. You could make it to the bottom with some sort of metal wood would be my guess. I’m open for lunches or dinners next week sailing’s around gusty winds.
Not offering one, because the quest for glass balls is the majority of the fun. My wife and I have about 20 ranging from 4" to 12" that we got when we lived in the Pacific. Best of luck on your quest.
everyone knows when two sailors are going the same place and have roughly comparable vehicles: ITS ON!!! Just happens by accident. Animal Instinct. hahah. you guys are livin it!
Great anchor save.. I would be worried about the amount of rust on your sugar scoop grab handles already.. clearly not the stainless steel you would expect, are all of your fittings going to be rusting 6 months..??
We would circle around our chosen spot to anchor looking at the shape of the bottom on the depth sounder, looking for bumps and shapes that could cause problems.
Looooking Gooood! On the anchor setup. I've seen where it is better to use shackle and 2 links of chain then attach swivel. Supposedly less chance of damaging swivel....
Biggest Great white shark I've ever seen was between Block island and Montauk point NY I was on a 50' sport fisherman and the shark was more the 1/2 our length. Had to cut the line he had no chance to land it.
I hope Seawind has sorted out the self tacking jib. I chartered a 1000XL, which is the little sister to your boat, and it would not slide over properly. Perhaps it was just old (It looked in good shape) but we had to push it over by hand every tack. Way to win the race against a much bigger boat! And great job working through the issue with your anchor.
Nice work Team I may have missed it but I learned the hard way when doing the exact same recovery - always wear a dive knife when dealing w/lines & floats & heavy items in the water. Again - you may have, just pointing it out for others as well 👍😎⛵️ And Billy’s right - it’s always a race 🤣
Did you guys get your hard top fixed yet? I know that is something that was going to take some time, and when I didn't see a video for a week or two thought maybe you were getting them fixed. Or RUclips didn't notify me!
Well done guys! Perfect technique. Would not be a bad idea to get use to attach a fender to a line to the anchor always. We do it in the med a lot especially when is rocky bottom. Love you guys
Know a few people that have lost gear due to sunk boats. Seems more common on Hurricane affected coasts where boats get dumped/ disposed of? I wonder if a basic fish finder is worth having so you can check the bottom for debris before dropping the hook?
Was just watching you try and surf 4’ chop! You were in Michigan, and we have a southern Lake Michigan lake bout with temp, wind and wave action. I was watching waves build a few years ago out of Grand Haven. The bouy recorded a 22’ wave! That’s been the highest in the last 5 years. I was wondering if you would consider that a chop because they are so close together?
Hooka diving equipment works great for situations like that. It's easy and inexpensive.
Hey Guys, long term follower and fan in Ireland. Just curious, when at sea, where does your dog take care of it's bodily functions?
You two have the best boating/sailing channel out there. Very realistic and true.
0:15 - Jetty's "Whatever..." look is priceless. And, then, of course: 16:49.
Brilliant solution and a real testament to y'all's ability to problem-solve.
Billy is right about racing boats going in the same direction. . .Spot on!!
When you saw the other boat gaining on you and decided to change sails. That was great. Learning what your boat can do. A little competition never hurt anyone.
Well done on retrieving the anchor ! Always good to win a race !
Fair winds ⛵️
You R the only cruiding channel who pumps out your poop. All the others just dump it. Thank you for your consideration! Safe travels ❤
Billy finds one and tries to give you credit. True love ❤️ BTW, I love the peaceful easy feeling the music and sailing provides. ⛵️ 🎶

Nice summary on sails.
We’re stuck on a Danube cruise ship with Covid 😖. This was a great episode! Just what I needed. Wish Jetty was here😉

I noticed that as well
I noticed as well!!! New boat!
I rarely lol, but I lmao when you said, "everyone knows when there are 2 sailboats...." too funny😅
So true 😂 When ever my folks and I are cruising with another sailboat ⛵️ be side us, we are “ unofficially racing”.😂

Yes, two sailboats heading the same way, race is on!
I have been watching these love birds and jetty since 2017 and I need to know how they still look so young 👍
You're absolutely right about racing. Even when you say you aren't you are. Whoever docks last buys the first round...that's how it works everywhere I've ever been.

New boat and I see rust already formed in the steps. Still nice their
I got one of your shirts on today, I have a few more Plus the Hoodie. love you two.😊❤❤
Did I see rust on the back of that brand new boat?😮 what kind of hardware did the Mfg use
Very informative and interesting. Fine job on the anchor ⚓️. Congratulations on the cost saving.
The Vineyard Wind project is the giant ship.
Ya know Billy life isn't necessarily all about competition. Sometimes you just want to relax and just have a nice leisurely sail. You'll probably figure this out in about 20 years. Until then have fun with your races. Keep the good stuff coming and give Jetty a treat for me.
Wow - what an anchor recovery mission! 🙀Great info on the sails and congrats on WINNING in all of the ways that matter. 🙌🏻
I’m a power boat kind of girl but have been curious on the sales and rigging , you explained really well.
Greetings from South Africa

Oohhh Block Island! My childhood fav. Enjoy guys. Great time to be there with less crowds. Nice race Billy!
Hi! Nice seeing the 3 of you and the boat. Great info on sails and anchor retrieval, now if I only had a sailboat. Sierra good luck on your hunt! 🐾⛵
Good to see you guys back making videos I get spoiled when you make them and then I feel like I've been waiting a long time for the next 1 -2 come out ❤ u guys
Billy is correct about two sail boats racing. Bravo sir, nice technique to pull out the W against the faster vessel! Cheers you two, great episode.
been watching you guys since the trawler in Gilgo.. have loved every minute of it... keep going and growing
Sierra wants to go surfing on Block Island, I grew up on Long Island and never heard of anyone surfing in the Sound.
Wow! What happened to the swim ladder and mount plate? Note stainless? 😳
Awesome, sail information!
Best spinnaker sail ever!
Hope you have somewhere to hunker down from hurricane Lee, if still in the area? Be safe!
I have been vacationing on Block since I was 2 and I am now turning 50. My dream would to sail my own boat someday into New Harbor. Not to brag but we have 2 globes.
Be Safe And Have Fun Guys.
It’s always a race!
Loved the sail education. And I love that screacher.
Thanks for the rigging and equipment training captain 😊
WoW crazy story !
Pulling one’s chain from a tree for Christmas is an amazing idea. You could make it to the bottom with some sort of metal wood would be my guess. I’m open for lunches or dinners next week sailing’s around gusty winds.
First, I thought you were pulling your next fixer upper out of the sea 😂 nice job getting out of this mess. Great video ❤
Not offering one, because the quest for glass balls is the majority of the fun. My wife and I have about 20 ranging from 4" to 12" that we got when we lived in the Pacific. Best of luck on your quest.
That huge ship is a base for windmills. It's part of the Cape Wind project, I believe.
That was my understanding when I saw it coming into Newport. Narragansett Bay
Just before entering Narragansett Bay. It is a massive ship
Billy is totally correct! Everyone knows that if two boats are out on the water, no matter what, they are racing each other 😂😂
Don't forget the topless beaches on Nantucket.
Love the editing you do
😁👍. Great job getting the anchor loose. Jetty didn’t seem too stressed about it.
Yup! It is always a race girl!😊
Well done! Hope you find the glass float.
Nice one. Horrific situation with the anchor. Well done Billy.
Shoulda seen the waves at Narragansett today

Great anchor save..

Bummer about the Chinese “stainless steel “.
I about had a heart attack when I looked at the list price for that boat. You'd think they'd get top of the line fittings.
@@stopthephilosophicalzombie9017 Exactly my thoughts
Thanks for explaining the sails : really interesting and useful.
Great video. What a race!! Good luck finding your glass ball.
Y’all make my ❤️ happy!
We would circle around our chosen spot to anchor looking at the shape of the bottom on the depth sounder, looking for bumps and shapes that could cause problems.
Thank you for your sail inventory review. Good description and explanation of sail functions and options
Good job recovering that anchor just happy you are having a good time.
One of us has to jump in.....good one.
Looooking Gooood! On the anchor setup. I've seen where it is better to use shackle and 2 links of chain then attach swivel. Supposedly less chance of damaging swivel....
Congratulation on your new sailing vessel. I always enjoy your videos.

Hey Billy, Are ya’ll watching Hurricane Lee.? Maybe heading up to the Maine Area.??
Excellent sail commentary. TY.
Enjoyed the vlog as always. Y’all have fun.

GOOD JOB

Wow what an operation! Thanks for showing how to do this, im sure well get into this situation one day
Very nice
Great video…. How does the pup like the new boat?
The first regatta in the history was raced the first time that two boat sailed in the same course at the same time!

Looks to be some rough water and wind coming your way,
Was that red Catamaran, Archer, from The Sailing Family?

Question how come no marker buoy. But great job on like you said a lot of money off the sea bed.
Great channel , good content , good variety , well done
Is SeaWind aware of the signs of rust on one of their boats just fresh out of the boat yard? (3.46)
Where did you guys happen to find your sailboat coffee mugs??
