The title says "To Do List" but it is really just our "MUST DO List" there are about 100 other things on our to do list but as any cruiser knows it is all about prioritizing to get off the dock. If you wait until EVERYTHING is done on your To Do List you will never leave. Also, we kept this video a little more Raw with no music at all, longer clips, and less cuts. What do you think? Would you have preferred some music in there?
You two popped up on my feed a few weeks ago. Just want to say you guys are so adorable. Billy you are so smart. I’m watching a bunch of your videos and enjoying them so much. $$$$ Looking forward to many more new ones. This grandma is sending prayers you two always be safe.
You can tell good people by the way they treat their animals. JETTY looks as happy as can be! Big kudos to you both for saving what may otherwise have become another hulk littering the landscape. The boat is amazing!
Awesome work you guys.....You are so fun to watch as you affirm and help each other all the time. It is encouraging....You should be really proud of yourselves for such a big accomplishment.
I just found your channel . Watched the refit of the trawler . Looks beautiful. I’m impressed by the amount of hard work performed. Real work ! Congrats !
Every time you say something is easy to set up I do an eye roll. I just found one of the batteries in my flashlight was installed upside down. My hat is off to your mechanical and technical expertise.
Hopefully you guys got through this project without getting on each other's nerves too bad. Not easy to do, working side by side 24/7. What you guys have together is something special that not many couples have. Cling to that like it's a life raft in shark invested water. I hope you're enjoying the fruits of all your hard labor right now. Give Jetty a big hug too. She sacrificed as much as you two did, I'm sure. God bless and best wishes.
@Inka anyone who's ever done a huge project like this with a spouse or significant other, knows exactly what I was talking about. It looks like there's at least 14 people who know what I'm talking about and at least two people who don't. All of us, I'm sure, wish them the best.
I kinda know how you guys are feeling. I have an apartment I've been using as a warehouse for about 9 years now while I worked on other apartments. It's in the final stages of getting done. That's a really good feeling. I think you guys are probably feeling about the same way now. Keep the good stuff coming guys and looking forward to what the next project.
Sure is so many items to test, repair, replace, in-order to get your Trawler looks ship shape and ready to get under-way. Your skills now, could possibly land you a job in the ship repair / tech. support field, if ever needed, as a last resort for income. Was noticing, (what looked like), at least three GPS receiver connection points on your main deck unit, (that would be a luxury addition to obtain better / more reliable GPS location info.). Congratulations to you both! Wow is an under rated expression, for the amount of work and dedication put to this endeavor.
Too funny! I love the communication between you two about who gets to cross what off the "To Do list". Doing that is so gratifying. (When you think about it, it might be enough to harm a relationship between two people if one of the partners was too greedy about crossing off too many items..
Amazing transformation on your trawler. I live in Sacramento and have done a lot of boating in the delta and SF bay. Not much out in the open ocean. I hope before you guys head north you will take it out into some rough seas just to make sure nothing is going to shake loose or cause a serious issue that could strand or possibly sink you. A good sea trial in the open ocean before your journey. I'd hate to see something happen to you wonderful people. Anyway you guys are inspirational and I'm envious of your lifestyle. You two our living the dream most of us are too afraid to try. Cheers, happy sailing and safe travels.
Note to self… don’t buy a $100 boat unless Billy and Sierra are there to help you out! You guys are the best. Good luck. I love watching the progress!!!
So sweet Billy giving Jetty a cuddle bless her. You guys, the boat is amazing the people you bought it from must be so happy with how beautiful she looks. Xxx Xxx 😀🐬
You are completely right about AIS. For me AIS is like a social network - give and get. Long time ago I went with friends sailing boat around England. We often had encounters with big ships. They all obeyed us and mad little adjustments to their course for us.
Lots of comments from new subscribers that are surprised and impressed with Billy’s technical knowledge and mechanical skill. If you think this episode is impressive go back in the Tula archives to a much earlier episode when Billy overhauled his old Diesel engine in his cockpit while on the hook-solo. That hooked me on their adventure. Who would ever dismount their diesel auxiliary lift it into the cockpit onto 2x4’s and then tear it down are rebuild it before dropping it back into place. Yup, that’s our Billy. Sierra, what episode was that?
When using multiple wraps of safety wire, best to make multiple separate turns with the ends of each turn twisted together. That way, if one loop breaks, the others don't come loose.
At 20:12 it looks like that other boat had a red Pakayak kayak. I just got one, they come apart into six pieces that nest together into a very large bag like a suit case.
Being I am an old guy it's more fun to me watching you give an old boat new life rather than a new boat being built. Don't get me wrong new is good but I'm not convinced that boats built today are meant to last as long as these made then. Time will tell.
I’ve watched a lot of HVAC technicians, troubleshoot, simple systems that they didn’t know anything about and they often use a jumper until the function they are trying to fix works. Even if it wrecks another function. The stories I could tell. You always have to check for smoke and heat. Anytime you start up something that’s been newly worked be prepared to shut it back down.
Okay I was impressed with all the knowledge of running the diesel engines. The electronics is a whole nother ball game. I'm way impressed. The battery conversion, the inverter, installing the AIS, just taking out the old electronics is a major accomplishment, refurbishing the kitchen, the master stateroom, the forward State room are all impressive accomplishments as well. Let's not even begin to discuss all the exterior work the two of you have done. Super impressive, not your run of the mill boat refurbishing projects. I imagine just the materials alone are in the tens of thousands of dollars. I'm very anxious to see a final tally of all the costs involved in the improvements. After that I I am anxious to see the number of man hours you both dedicated to this project. If possible try to add a dollar figure for your time. That has always been my downfall when trying to determine whether doing the project myself is worthwhile whether it is home renovation or boat upkeep/renovation. In the end you guys are doing fabulous work, far above any pay grade you may assign yourself.
Awh thanks Mike!! We’re going to have some fun first but then we will make sure to discuss all cost and hours and if we think it was worth it!! 🥰😁 thanks for being with us on this journey!
Jetty, Jetty, Jetty! Missed her cute mug. Great work. She looks beautiful. What a long 9 months, your fans are proud of you both and I'm sure you are patting yourselves on the back. (I hope). Tribute when other youtubers reference "I learned this from Tula's" Maybe you will be back in Annapolis for 2023? Be well & Merry Christmas.
Hay guys I like it raw! That is just me, you are doing a fine job so far. Love your videos, a good looking lady an a smart man what a pair. You two have done a fine job on the Boat. Wish I had two smart kids like you.......KEEP up the good work and the videos OK??.......... Billy in Tx...
If a window gets blown out on the trip north the dash location might not be a good spot for equipment with emergency communications capabilities. Pac Cup we also had a plan/system for covering blown out windows if that were to happen. Just thinking about your trip north. Doing the I-5 route at 55mph is a popular choice even with commercial boats use to rough water. Just saying 👍
Your dog reminds me of our dog Sam. Sam's no longer around but a great memeory to see your oup has the same personality. Attentative and sensitive. I called my Sam, Sticky, bc he stuck with me no matter what project we did, building a feck for the cottage, sitting me with me on our boat and he hated alarm noises too.
Lucky girl got yourself a real man confident, tackles all things with logic and can do attitude and takes pride in doing it right instead of some jerk off with to many tattoos wearing shirts to small with his chest puffed out and doesn’t know what end of a hammer to hold onto
Would you mind pointing me to the episode that describes your generator? What type, size, etc, and why did you select this one. Many thanks and good luck on getting 'er underway.
Absolutely more raw footage . Don’t make things look too slick. Cuts when necessary to reduce viewing repetitive tasks, Timelapse and maybe using a clock face spinning to indicate long repetitive projects better . Music doesn’t really add much to boat projects . Overall have really enjoyed the boat work series and look forward to seeing you use the boat solve new problems, and work out the the inevitable glitches .
On your last video I saw you steering from upper helm. It did not look comfy. My solution is a wired or remote control for the auto helm. I once had a simrad wired remote that was fantastic. In addition to the regular features it had a steering only mode where the rotary knob in your hand was basically like holding the tiller in your hand. Each click on the knob was one degree of rudder. It had a rudder angle readout, and you could easily steer in rough waves with this set up. It was like sitting anywhere you want and having tiller in your hand

Better without the music, as for us older folks is easier to hear you both.
It was great content and congrats. So proud of your progress.
This was a journey in it's self! Wish I had my crap together like you guys at your age. Good luck on the main voyage!
I like it without music. Some channels make it hard for me to hear because of the music and I don't hear well with background noise/music.
Videos like this are better without music. In general, the less music, the better.

Liking the idea of fewer antennae, and less clutter - enhancing the fine look of your restoration project.
Every channel I watch where work is happening, there is an adorable dog as supervisor... love it!
Jetty is so cute! He’s been with you through everything ❤❤❤
She is the ultimate adventure pal and best friend 🥰🦊
I agree,❤️, ❤️, ❤️
Safe waters! You guys are living the Dream! Enjoy the moment!

This channel is getting more and more addicting as the days go by..... Good video, keep making them....
Hope you have gone back to the beginning.. watching. When Billy lost the keys overboard & had to dive at the dinghy dock, 😱😂

I like the way you did it. No need for music.

I never thought I would feel excitement over a new anchor but unboxing the big Mantus was sorta cool.

They went North and have already sold the boat.
@@FredB916 WHAT?

And did a ton of work on it.

'Rub Your Balls With Grease' is the best way to remember the proper anchor colours. Red, Yellow, Blue, White, Green.

I used teak plugs to fill all the old mounting drill holes from old systems, and it looks great.
So exciting and happy for you🎄🎄🎄
One of my favourite episodes!
It always feels great when you get to the point of finishing off all the items on the to-do list...
