  • In this cozy episode, we're continuing the residential expansion in the northwestern outskirts of the city of Pine Harbour, by filling in some empty areas nestled in between highways and railway infrastructure! We're focusing on developing medium-density apartment complexes built in the 1970s during the city's bid to end the at-the-time critical housing shortage. Hope you enjoy!

    - What's the rationale behind this project:
What happens if a washed-up-used-to-be-RUclipsr gathers a bunch of "generic" looking assets (though mostly inspired by Australian / Canadian cityscapes) with the hopes of creating a Cities: Skylines region full of towns and cities that both look realistic and are inspired by Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA, while at the same time don't really replicate any one particular style? No idea, let's find out.
Join me in this Cities: Skylines modded gameplay / let's play / timelapse series as we expand the region, and build new infrastructure, highways, public transit, industrial pockets, NIMBY-neighbourhoods, sprawling suburbs and bustling downtowns. And of course, use tress excessively to cover up any imperfections!

This district seems really dense, could be cool to have some small train station in the area imo. As an alternative to buses.

@@cheemterastrial9399 it's cheaper, there's a shopping district nearby, close to major city, bus connection... Seems like pretty ok cheap district honestly. Train stop would definitely make it more desirable though.

I don't think it has been an issue so far, but you often have dedicated right-turns and combined left-turn and straight-through traffic - when the ideal would be to have dedicated left-turns, combining right-turn and straight-through traffic.

@@Infrastructurist @Keyboard runner yeah I think this is the ultimate middle ground as I read through all of the comments asking for a train station lol which imo wouldn’t be very realistic in this type of area for several reasons….mostly because people live in this town simply for affordability. So the bike/ped bridge would be the most realistic compromise. Quite frankly the region already has overperformed with the current rapid transit infrastructure despite the obvious lack of density so Infrastructurist is right about the pushback from lobbyists lol

Another fantastic build, Mayor Infra. I am a bit concerned about the *main road.* I would *remove the plants* and *relocate the bus stop (at a dedicated terminal closer to the commercial hub of the town)* and allow that main road to simply be two lanes throughout. How it is currently configured - where it condenses to being just one lane at some sections - will undoubtedly lead to some bottleneck as traffic volumes increase. Also, the turning lanes on the main road also need to be adjusted. The right lane should go straight and turn right; and, the left lane should only turn left; the current configuration sees vehicles needlessly and hazardously criss-crossing the roads.

Great video as always. I’ve enjoyed catching up on this series over the last couple weeks. Love the higher density suburban design & all your fine touches of detail.
One suggestion I’d make for Pine Harbour would be to add a few tennis courts, a football pitch, maybe a rugby field, & potentially a few other sports facilities around town. Keep up the good work!
    Cheers from British Columbia!

I think it would be a neat flavor addition to have PO highway signs that mention what neighborhoods the exits lead to. But it’s not really crucial and I understand if you would have reservations about doing that. Either way, great episode and I’m excited to see more of Coniferia.

Nice build, I love it :)
(small point of remark, those walls along the railroad are too high and way too close. In reality there would be minimal 4.5 meters (6 meters) between railroad and well to have people work safely along the tracks. In most cases they would use wired fencing and very minimally walls, and most of the walls would be lower as they're only have to stop the lower soundwaves (the soundwaves emiting from wheels and tracks).
But holy shit man, your builds are really really nice :)
I hope to see you one day in 5B1C season 4

Hi there I was watching some of your videos on city skylines I was thinking get there isn’t no pool area for people to swim in the beach community in any of your city belts and not enough color to brighten up like plants and buildings and I just wish there was a community pool and a beach community

  • @ravenizer

I don’t know why but that small Syndey Harbor community right next to the tracks needs to be called Garland Heights.
And like some other comments mentioned, maybe there can be additional bus service to bring the people living here closer to Danton Station.

I didn't know that was possible but it adds so much realism to the build. This is becoming my favorite city ever. Also great music selection! :)

Shouldn't the right lane go straight and right and the left lane as a turn only lane?
I think this way you could increase the traffic flow easily.

  • @leepic9091

I just love your videos so much!! This new denser district a little further away from the center turned out amazing :) I think a lot of cities have a very crowded center with empty suburbs because they are designed center-out instead of multiple centers connected. So, this is a great feature to see in Coniferia. With a lot of this road getting new neighborhoods like this, you might want to consider two bus routes: one that follows the main route straight and is like an express service inbetween neighborhoods, and one that goes into neighborhoods to serve more people (although slower). I think it is good for the elderly or physically disabled residents of the region to have a bus close by. A lot of people said to have a train stop here and it makes sense with the density, however I don't know how it could be integrated. Perhaps elevated on the side of the railway? Maybe a middle track station was implemented to use the least of city's budget (as to integrate a station without more construction and just widening the bridge a little).
Love your videos, keep em coming :))
