It's gonna be a long 3 year wait but I am so happy with what they did with Rebirth and when it comes to PC I will get it again and replay it in the meantime. So many hopes and wishes for part 3 with the Highwind, Cid and Vincent gameplay, the Weapons, and wrapping things up in the most epic way possible.
I agree with you. I absolutely think the devs mean what they say when they hype this game up. I've heard the "It's just hyperbole. They want to sell copies." argument before. People said the exact same thing before Rebirth came out...and were proven wrong, as Square made good on every lofty promise they made with that game. I understand why people might wish to remain skeptical, to avoid future disappointment. I was cautiously optimistic after Remake too. Then Rebirth came out, and blew away all my worries. At this point, they've made two absolute bangers in a row with this trilogy, so I think they've earned at least some degree of trust. If they say this is going to be one of the greatest games they've ever made, and possibly one of the greatest games of all time, I believe them.
Lol fans abandoned the game after Remake and they’ve been vocal as to why and all their reasons are objectively on display in both Remake and Rebirth. Part 3 will be an even bigger sales flop because the fans are not interested in a cash grab Kingdom Hearts fan fiction version of FF7. The only thing that was proven is that fanboys will lie and gaslight themselves and others into thinking the devs are crafting some genius product when the reality is they throwing shit at the wall and people like you eat it up.
@@KieranHamilton-y7s Whatever you might think of the games, they are objectively not a cash grab. (They're also objectively not fan fiction, as many of the developers who created the original have returned to create the remake.) A cash grab would be if they just did what everyone intially thought they were going to do, and just remade the game 1:1, at minimal cost, for maximum profits. You don't spend this much money on a cash grab, and you certainly don't take this many creative risks on a cash grab. Changing the battle system, and adding to the story of the original game was always going to alienate a part of the audience. The developers understood this going in, and they did it anyway, because this was the remake they wanted to make. This is not a cash grab. This is a passion project. It's true that there are fans who weren't on board with the changes from the get go, but many also stuck with the games, and those that did have greatly enjoyed their time with them. The games have been rated highly by both professional critics, and most importantly, by fans. I personally consider Rebirth to be the best game Square has made since FFIX, and it's not a close contest. And no, it's not because I'm a fanboy, trying to gaslight myself into thinking the game is good. Please stop with that. I forced myself to play through all of Dirge of Cerberus, which was also an FFVII product, and you won't hear me calling that game a masterpiece. It was ass. Pure and simple. I also watched Advent Children. A few interesting ideas...messy as hell execution. I also played Crisis Core. I like Zack, and appreciate what they were trying to do with his story, but that game has some of the cheesiest dialogue that has ever been put to the page. and the core story was very clearly rushed, thanks to the game being stuck to the UMD format when it was initially released on the PSP. I love FFVII, but that doesn't mean I've loved everything that has ever come out of FFVII. So when I say that Remake and Rebirth were some of the best experiences I've had in gaming, you can rest assured that I genuinely mean that. I didn't have to lie to myself in order to come to that conclusion. Assuming Square doesn't completely drop the ball with part 3, this trilogy is honestly on track to surpass the original for me, which is not easy to do.
They made it episodic because they wanting to sell 10m+ three times. They named it Remake because OG fans would be suckered into buying it with that title, and when people saw what the trilogy was actually about, they didn't buy Rebirth, and even less will buy part 3. They absolutely tried to cash grab the shit out of this trilogy, but it blew up in their faces. Tons of people bought Ps4's for Remake, hoping it would be what they waited 20 years for, but no one is buy buying Ps5's for Rebirth. Yes they could have sold way more with a 1 to 1 Remake, and they could have easily expanded on the game's content without the excessive padding as well. They are turning a 30-40 hour game into a 200+ trilogy, when they could have just made it a 70-100 hour standalone game similar in size/design as Dragon Quest 11. The greed and hubris got to them though. Nomura admitted in interviews that he wanted to be "free" from the constraints of the original story, he didn't want to be stuck doing the same stuff. It's mind numbing they put someone in charge of the project who doesn't even want to honor the OG. I do believe Rebirth is likely the best single-player Final Fantasy game they've made in a long time. They would have sold more copies of the game if it was ff17 with it's own story/characters and standalone. A game like Rebirth with multiple playable characters, and more RPG aspects, would have easily surpassed FF16 sales by a lot. Being tied to part 1 is a huge reason why it lost half it's audience/sales, and part 3 is likely going to lose half of the current players who played part 2. We've seen similar results with FF13 trilogy
@@micman963 They split the game into 3 parts because they wanted to do more with the story and gameplay, and felt that what they wanted to do simply couldn't be done in just a single release. I doubt we'd have the freedom to explore the world like we do now in a single release for example. Trying to construct the whole world of FFVII at that scale, and at that level of detail in one go would have been an absloutely daunting, and perhaps even impossible task, but they wanted to give the games that level of detail, because they felt that's what the legacy of FFVII deserved. It's not that they didn't want to honor the legacy of FFVII, but rather that they felt they couldn't do that legacy justice by simply making what would essentially have been a very pretty remaster, like the one they did for Crisis Core. It's fine if you disagree with their way of thinking, but it's really obvious just from their interviews that they didn't do this to spite the original, or because they didn't care about it. They very clearly do care. That care shows in the effort they put into these new games. Also, it's pretty normal for a sequel to sell less than a first game. Obviously there will be people who bought the first game who didn't like it, and thus wouldn't return for a sequel. Any company would have to factor that pretty much inevitable drop in customers into their sales calculations. Plus, there's also the inevitable boost in sales that they'll get once the PC version releases, and the later boost in sales that they'll get after part 3 releases, from the people who are interested in the games, but want to wait until the story is finished, before diving in. Are the games going to sell a billion copies? No, but they should do well once all is said and done. If they really were doing that poorly, Square would just cancel the project completely, and have the developers work on something else. Square Enix's biggest problem now is that a string of actual failures, like Forespoken, and Babylon's Fall, have hurt their bottom line so much that their actually good games have to sell unreasonable numbers just to make up for the stinkers they put out.
I agree. The Remake trilogy was definitely not a cash grab. Not sure why they think otherwise. If anything, people didn’t like the changes to the story that were made. But TBH. I think it’s partially because the story was broken up into a trilogy. Also, neither Remake or Rebirth were truly open world exploration. Once we are able to traverse on the Highwind, that will blow everyone’s mind! There is no other game out there that will be fully explorable like part 3. That was the same for the OG FF7. Instead, people are nitpicking at each installment instead of seeing the bigger picture - which i get is hard to do. And they are purposely ignoring all of the great parts of the game - the combat, characters, cinematics, graphics, music, gameplay, etc. I am a FF fanboy but tbh, the reason why is because this is the best game of all time. No other game compares. The attention to detail in this game surpasses any game I’ve ever played. And for the record, TLOU was my second favorite game of all time - so i was not surprised they made it into a series. So it’s no surprise that SE remade FF7 because it is truly game changing.
One thing they could bring in, funnily enough echoing Ever Cris, is making the summons a limit break instead of what we have now. I barely ever use the summons at the moment cos they don't feel worth it.

I wish they’d include a jump button - for both combat and exploration! My idea is that they could have X be the jump button and then put Tactical Mode to the big screen button in the middle of the controller. Also, I’d like to see a lot more combat shortcuts. Specifically, I think the ideal scheme would be L1 + any combination of 1-3 face buttons, which would allow for a player to assign up to 12 shortcuts per character.

I really hope they stop milking the minigames. My biggest issue was that everything you had to do a couple times, even if you had a minigame you didn't enjoy. Just keep them optional and don't make everything bronze, silver, gold challenge like. Over than that I hope I can finally control someone else than Cloud outside of battle, too.
I think you will. Especially considering Cloud goes ‘missing’ after the Northern Cave. And they teased it a little bit when Aerith and Tifa had their date in Costa Del Sol. I actually think that since the world will be fully exploitable, certain areas you will not be able to access unless you are using a certain character. Much like how you used Yuffie in the Corel Mines to swing and even Red XIII when climbing walls.
I feel that with all the world building for Part Three with Sephiroth that they might not just be giving Sephiroth a role as a protagonist in this game but in his own spin-off game set after the Remake Trilogy. Don't forget the original did have a spin-off game set three years after it with Vincent as the main protagonist. I'm hoping for a advent children dlc
@@GameMaster-ig8oosame! I think it would be an Advent Children Remake
Yeah I would to if I sucked at the game.
10:17 you can bet your balls 😂
Angeal is dead. He's not coming back. Genesis is alive though, he can show up with deepground boys
The spin-off set after the Remake Trilogy has Sephiroth, Angeal, Genesis, and Vincent as main protagonists. It would be more of an action rpg than Dirge of Cerberus ever was.
I been waiting for a sephiroth game ever since the og ff7,we finaly get him in evercrisis and they cut his hair of........
Keep that lame as gacha story away from remake. Last thing part 3 needs is to turn into 15.
2027? no. 2026
Definitively 2027. It’s exactly 30 years from the original release date.
Young sephiroth is oké but i find him abit Boeing because hé looks to generic, his long hair is one of his uneque traids they should not have taken that away
If anything, it's nice that theyre daring to dream and at least trying to complete this trilogy but i checked out right about at the end of remake.
Why is that?
