Just got back from a few days down. First time in the city. Amazing place. Sullivans beach was one of the best beaches I've been to. Patriot point and the Hunley museum were both great tours. The cities central market was a great way to spend an afternoon. The Boone Hall Plantation was another great day of touring. Don't even get me started on the food. Many things I didn't get to see but I will return to see them.
Love Charlestown, but many years ago while driving from NJ to there, we arrived to check in at the Omni. As we went around the block multiple times, a little boy who was sitting on a curb watched our trek. We finally stopped to ask where the Omni was…he pointed “right there”! After several more trips around the large block and looking yet once again for the hotel sign, we came to learn that it was now known as Charlestown Place and the entrance was on the other side!😮. What a beautiful hotel and what a wonderful experience!! We were given a free carriage ride at checkin only to find that we needed to walk 2 blocks to the pickup spot. It was May, 104 degrees at 4:00 in the afternoon and we were so thirsty, but had no time to buy a drink. As we traveled along the harbor, our driver stopped at a pink house where an 80+ year old local doctor was selling lemonade!😅. It was delicious, and many years later I still say I would have been willing to pay a million dollars for that drink!! I’m sure he is long gone, but he added one more memory of one of our favorite cities!!!!
great informational video, we were there back in 2015 for a day, would love to spend a week there to see so many more things. thanks for sharing will save for later date
Husband and I are heading there next month after he retires looking forward to it. Don't think we will be doing any serious walking tours because of our age, we are looking forward to some great food though and beautiful flowers.
Hi Anthony, we actually stayed at the Hotel Indigo, in Mt. Pleasant it is an IHG Hotel, very nice free parking and turn right out of the hotel and you are right at the Arthur Ravennel bridge into downtown Charleston. Very nice hotel with complimentary breakfast, bar, restaurant and good rooms and rates and again "free parking". The Charleston Tourist Bureau aslo has a satellite location in Mt. Pleasant about 1/4 mile from the hotel and Patriots Point is also easily accessible in Mt. Pleasant, exit the rear of the hotel parking lot about a half mile. Enjoy your stay! We did.
@@patriciayohn6136 greatly appreciate you responding to my comment! My wife, son, and i are headed down in a couple of weeks. Insight like this is always great, thanks again!
You are quite welcome, Anthony, enjoy and wear light weight clothing, the weather (heat and humidity) is brutal in the South over the Summer. We went the last week in April last year. It was actually slightly chilly in the evening then. Safe trip to you all.
Fall/Winter/Spring are my favorite times of the year. It's too hot during the Summer, and that's when most people visit. If you do visit during the Summer, near the beach is the best place to stay, for the cool breeze.

It's Rainbow ROW. Rainbow Row is on East Bay Street.
It's on our list for next year. Great video. When would be the best months to go? What would be the best location to stay?
