A second opinion is the most important thing IMO. You can be a beginner or an experienced expert but you should always seek a second opinion. The key thing is who do you choose to ask. I have a friend who's also a graphic designer specialized in package design, but he has a unique talent: an eye that 'sees 10 steps ahead'. I even paid him a few times despite him not wanting to take money from me, he sees it just as help to a friend, but to me his opinion is game-changing.
No longer a graphic designer as I've moved on to another career. I just stumbled upon your channel and.... I'm simply blown away with your content. The knowledge you're sharing is AMAZING. I wish I had this years ago while learning. The countless classes were never this good. Subscribed, just to see. Truly fascinating to hear your thoughts and theories.
part-time logo designer here! I work fulltime as a valuer for a property valuation company. I always ask where do you intend for your logo, printed or digital only. If printed, what are the materials. And logo design has its own trend that changes every year. And yeah, dont forgot to give logo concept to your client. Logo concept with mockup ideas are like cheat codes. Its easy for them to visualize how the logo gonna look like on their merchandise or websites. I have this quote that i stick by which is “ simplicity is the modern day complexity “
I recall some time ago that you were learning motion/video design. I must say I am rather impressed by your command of the art in your presentations. Most impressive also is how your narration follows the presentation. Truly spot on! Oh and, yes, these rules should be followed to a T - no exceptions. Great content as always, my friend. Stay well.
I totally agree with his motion graphics point. Times are changing and alot of organizations are embracing motion graphics for online purposes or electronic billboards
Something I learned in school was to not use gradients in logos. But clearly a lot of logos have gradients. I was told we shouldn’t use them because they don’t translate well to black and white. I’d be curious to know what others think on this topic
I've expressed my distaste for them in logo design before. The main reason is that often a brand will need their logo on say, metal, wood, fabric etc, and so a gradient will not translate. I also think in most cases they look dated. There are exceptions though
@@SatoriGraphics thank you so much for your feedback. I agree with your points here. It just surprises me that I see them so often, despite the limitations.
One thing I would add would be the “Story” of the brand...When I was in the Craft Beer business, one thing I discovered in the process of logo design was illustrating the story of the beer and brand through the logo and name. Once people were intrigued and involved in the story, the beer became something they could support and be enthusiastic about...they felt it was more meaningful too.
Satori, I always look forward to your tutorial. I am gleaning so much from your tutorials. You are a doyen of Graphic Design and have a flair for teaching.
@@SatoriGraphics My pleasure. I have watched many tutorials and you are one of the finest designers it's been my fortune to meet. I am a budding designer and I want to learn from the best like you. I am really inspired. Kudos to you
I just discovered your channel, and I don't have enough words to thank you. English is not my first language, but your diction is so impeccable so I do not need any subtitles. Please, can you tell me what kind of software do you use for making the animations in your video? Thank you.
Thanks for the video! I was wondering about one thing: An .svg file is also a vector right? So, basically, if I can export any kind of drawing from Photoshop as an .svg file, does that mean that this can be used as a vector logo? I'm talking about complex, realistic drawings done with Photoshop. The reason is I had a client who wished for a realistic drawing as a logo and I thought this would be too complex for a logo and would not work. If you have time to share your thoughts on the matter, I would highly appreciate.
Thank you for all your videos. I went to the link in the description to check out framer, but it does it exist anymore? Wanted to relay that back to you.
Hi sir. Can you also give some information about the standard size of a logo, banner or advertisement design? I think there are some standard sizes. like if I start practising, which size should I start with?
did you post a job on upwork weeks before? I've seen someone looking to have a logo designed with the words satori. And in the reviews, a freelancer called the client 'tom'.
I'm not quite sure.. I might have been doing that for a video where I hire logo designers, like I did with font designers here: ruclips.net/video/oxf7CIu6wBA/видео.html
the real problem is that the client almost never understand this, super complicated names, over saturation of simbols and colors, over sized letters and with no negative spaces, etc, etc... im just a photographer with graphic design as a hobbie, i cant imagine the frustration of professionals... 🙄
i just found your channel sir, and it feels great can you tell me what app you use to make a presentation video like this video? and what keyword i should use to find a tutorial to make video like this?
What do you do when your clients do not know how to answer the questions properly? There is often no depth to the answers, most want to have an impact and standout but do not know how.
How is aunt Jemima and land o lakes not amazing. I don’t see how having a persons face as the brand is hurtful or offensive. Seems more offensive to remove them.
Funny thing was that it was white people getting mad at it. I live on a street of, 2 white families, 4 black, and 2 Nepalese. My white kids call the black neighbours aunt and uncle, its something that they pick up and it was them that started it. Their black kids call my wife aunt.

Yes SVG is a vector file that is typically seen for web use. If you use the SVG export option from PS you will effectively been exporting a vector

Logo mark is the symbol, logotype is any typography that a logo has
