- I'm Grandpappy Bricks, a Senior Fan of Lego (SFOL) and Grandparent Lego Investor (for the benefit of my granddaughter.) I am so excited about adding multiples of these minifigs, and I'd like to tell you how I plan to use them...
Thank you so much for your comments. You make my RUclips life fun just by sharing your ideas!
I'm disabled so running around to Target and Walmart to scan figures is not something I can really do. I was lucky enough to find a store that was able to sell me an entire case of the D&D minifigures. That's 3 whole sets of the figures. I'm keeping a set for myself and giving the other 2 to my friends that I played the game with when it first came out in the 70's. I think they'll love their Christmas presents this year. I also bought 4 of the 3 in 1 castle set and I'm going to use them to make one massive castle. Building Lego is like finding ZEN for me and when I'm putting a set together, all the chronic pain just slips away. I know your daughter will enjoy these figures as much as you do.
A GREAT strategy! Spread the joy! Cheers!
Again, you are my future through the looking glass! Hoping for many years of good health and grand kids. Well done Sir!
Many thanks for your comment Lego friend! Cheers!
As a fan of both D&D and LEGO I quickly grabbed a whole set of 12 unique minifigs. Then just like you I realized how amazing those parts are for making unique minis for medieval setting - I grabbed multiples of most of them and combining them with medieval figures make for some amazing characters. Using the castle 3-in-1 set, medieval town square and a few personal moc houses I created a whole town for a game of D&D set in medieval fantasy setting. These figures were a godsend when it came to populating it 😁
That sounds amazing! Too much fun… cheers and happy building!
I believe you were very fortunate, and I loved seeing your groups of multiples of these characters in your newer video. 👌
Thank you. Yes, I have built up my fantasy armies and characters because of this CMF set! Cheers!
Great video. Loved the commentary on each figure, audio quality is fantastic. Kudos
Thanks so much! I’m also a bit of an audio and microphone nerd! Shure SM7B through a Rodecaster Pro II. I appreciate your comment!
The inn blends better together with the the castle set and village set. The tree is lovely but would have to be reclusive like deep into an enchanted forrest. One way to work around it is to have the tree in the middle of the town like in the tv-show vox machina and have the villagers sort of protect the tree because they find it holy. Yggrassil the tree of life could also be the heart of the elves and to take it down would mean they'd lose their immortality so they build their castle around it.
Anyways the DnD cmf is drop dead gorgeous and I have already bought around 200 of them. Got mostly paladin, druids, witches and tieflings. I'd recommend you to grab a sealed box to cut down on the expenses (saved me 50$). These will hold value and could be used to trade for other figures in a few years.
Thanks Lego Friend! These are great ideas and I truly appreciate them. Cheers!
This CMF series is so good. I wish you and your granddaughter have as much fun with it as I had with the last one (the one with the vampire knight)
A few of my uses for these CMFs, they have been amazing!!
Dwarf Barbarian - great torso, neck pelt piece - is so good for Forrestmen leaders or for wealthy villager elites, and the axe is great, just wish the legs were better
Gith Warlock - head is great for vikings/barbarians/anyone with face paint, shoulder pads are awesome, and the knife is really handy to go with archers, hair piece is handy for yellow head elves
Tiefling Sorceror - actually have been a fan of using a couple of the Tiefling parts (head, hair/horns & tail) to make my own tieflings but not a sorcerer, the torso and legs are handy for village nobles, and Ive used the baby dragon for my red dragon faction
Dragonborn Paladin - this figure is elite, every part bar the blue stick, mace piece and somewhat the head, are so usable for my customs, back & front torsos are amazing, the amour is the best armour piece for this faction, but also easily adds to Lion Knights, Forestmen, and custom knights, the arms and legs can also be handy on other knights, and I like the torso for priests. Ive also added the other "creature" heads to this and it fits perfectly, especially the arakocra (bird man)
Halfling Druid - great figure! Have used the torso, cape, hat and staff for heaps of my Forestmen and the legs are handy for dwarfs, Ive also used the staff with the dwarf axe to make a long two-handed axe to great effect
Arakocra Ranger - great torso, handy bow, have used the wings for a priestess that i have in my dragon army
Mindflayer - dress piece is handy
Strad - so handy, the sword and cape are so good! use the cape for alot of my black falcons and crown knights, have also added him to my fright knights
Elf Bard - handy with the lute, torso good for villagers or nobles, hair great for elfs
Lady of Pain - havent really use this for anything as yet
Sass Tam - great dress for Lion Knights, cape is amazing for Lion Knights or wizards
Tarsha - the torso/arms are great aswell as the legs, add the legs and arms to the viking torso and get an amazing crossbowman or archer, have also made a few extra witches using the hat
These are terrific ideas and I'm grateful you shared them. Thanks!
@tbsince1954 haha I didn't realise I wrote so much! Great to see you're enjoying your lego & RUclips journey
This series of CMF is great to buy multiples for castle fans. Even if I personally don't plan to search for 10 copies of an exact minifigure, I wouldn't mind to have duplicates. It is Lego and it could be easily customized. For example, I think the Tasha's torso could suit an assassin, I'm planning to change a hair/hat piece and give her warlock's knives. Or several mindflayers could be converted into some dark cult by changing their heads with regular minfigs ones
Great custom ideas. Thanks for posting! Cheers!
I've recently sold off my entire Starwars collection. Realized I'd never have enough space/money to collect everything I want. Think I've taken a similar outlook as your in collecting mostly the non licensed lego sets. Bonus is classic space, castle, and pirate were the lego bread and butter of my youth and I've always gravitated towards these themes. Thansk for the content, looking forward to more!
That's really interesting to me, thanks for sharing. I have several Star Wars sets and am only keeping them because my son and I grew up watching them. But I really will never build them all, and I doubt very much I'll ever build them all. But, I'll probably keep them in case my granddaughter becomes a fan!
Great video - and tip on the minifigure scanner app - I've seen that if you can get to a retail store before the case has been opened - that case will contain 3 of each of 12 and they are apparently put 3 of the same in order so the first, second and third box _should_ contain the same figure. Some boxes will not scan (at least with the app I've used) but was able to get 8 of the twelve and took a chance on a couple of the ones I could not successfully scan - no duplicates - I ordered the remaining on bricklink for a complete set. My wife, adult son and I are enjoying the LEGO hobby together - my son is working full time but in his time off we often sit at the kitchen table and build our sets - it a lot of fun and mostly "screen time free".
Great watch especially for grandparents. Good opinions and information. Thankyou. I have 3 nieces. I suggest buying used bulk or sets that have your grandkids favorite colors. Ya can never have enough pink bricks or women hairpieces.
Great advice--thank you! Cheers!
Another good video. Today I finished building the Viking village. I played D&D when I was a teenager back in the 80s and occasionally dipped my toe back into the game over the years as it’s an amazing game. I’ve seen these mini figures but I’m not yet convinced in collecting them.
I'm looking forward to the Viking Village. I'm not a D&D player so come to this only as a lover of fantasy. I appreciate your comment! Happy building! Cheers!
I have the dungeons & dragons set it is totally worth for monters and fantasy elements! and the player charaters minifigs are perfect for fantasy theme the red dragon fits into any castle theme !
Thanks for the info. It looks like it will fit well. I also want to add some strong elements of fantasy play into my theme for my granddaughter, and I’d like to stick to the sets that aren’t licensed but are native to Lego. I’m really liking what I’m seeing in the Dreamzzz line. I’m going to ask help from the community in refining my thinking so I’ll have a video on that soon. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great video and breakdown of the minifigs. To answer your question about whether to get the Zelda set or the DND set, I'd get the DND set to pair with these new CMFs. You will get more minifigs that also go well with your medieval themes. Unfortunately, there are only 4 figures with the Zelda set.
I'm leaning towards exactly that. I appreciate you taking the time to share your ideas! Cheers!
00:41 made me feel really holesom and reminds me anyone can like Lego and you can introduce it to the next generation or older generations with the classic themes and bring joy to people's lives.
It's all about that! Anything we can do to raise the level of joy in our lives and in others. Thanks for your comment! Happy building!
Hello, I had the same idea of introducing the halfling duids with the forest men. I will buy the bricklink series 3 set, I believe you'd enjoy that set as well!
That bricklink set looks great. I may also use one of the Dreamzzz sets to moc (my first) a fort for the forest men/ranger/Halfling alliance. It’s fun to create a whole world in Lego! Thanks for posting!
Absolutely love this line even tho i know nothing about d&d. I want multiples of the dragonborn paladin because everyone wants that figure but i personally want to army build the mind flayers 🧠🐙
I'm loving it too! And an army of Flayers sounds awesome!
@@tbsince1954 I might have about 10 already 😳 😅
Haha I see myself being a sfol when I'm your age for sure!
Well, I LOVE hearing that Lego Friend! Happy building!
Have you picked up the Lion Knight’s castle set yet? I think it’s retiring at the end of the year, and personally I’d go for it over the big Dungeons and Dragons set, especially in terms of making a castle setup. Great video as always
I do have the Lion's Knight castle and am so looking forward to building it! Thanks for your thoughts on the D&D set, I'll have to look at it closely. Thank you for posting. Cheers!
I bought ten, and swaped all the parts and made new minifigures for my castle theme.
What a great idea! Thanks for posting.
Coming from the same space as you, not actually being a DnD player, I still bought the big set for the fantasy castle aspect. Let me tell you, it was worth it! It’s big, but it also is segmented so you can put the tavern in the town and have the tower with a different castle and even put the dungeon in the depths of the forest. It’s a very cool set
ooo. That sounds great. Exactly what I was hoping to hear! Thanks Lego Friend! Cheers!
Just so you know 12:00 in DnD a Witch is a female Wizard, and can look like anything. The more evil ugly witches are actually fey called Hags
Thanks for the information. I’ve never played D&D, I’m looking to use these characters simply to interface with castle and introduce fantasy into the picture. I appreciate your post! Cheers!
I’ve bought 6 full unopened boxes…. So far.
Was gonna buy 5 more off of FB but they have been stolen so I’ll pass.
And many of the top 3 as I could and a few of the top 5.
I’ve so far managed to collect 79 DK’s paladin and will buy as many as I can you only get three in a box so it’s been a ride.
The top 5 for me is
1) DK
2) Eagle 🦅 Bro
3)Red dragon
4) Mind flayer
5)Tam for his red skull
I’ll buy as many of 1 as I can trust they already selling solo for £10. Like space baby pink n blue of the past.
I’m glad I bought 65 Series 22 space creature yes just for the purple space logo. They have all been sold bar 5 profit x 9 bought for £2.75 they sell for £16-£18 each.
I’ve started investing in what ever will sell. I’ve become what I hated most a collecter for profit but I’m good at it.
You need to get to know the game and the fan base of D&D and the castle community to see the power of 1.
Had my first castle set in 1984 the split n open castle it’s worth £1500 🤦♂️ wtf right.
Subbed bro you are a Man after my own heart 👊🏿.
That's a good list of minifigs. I'm building my own squads for my castle based fantasy world. Good luck to you. Cheers!
@@tbsince1954 hard to find tho ain’t they only three per box of 36 it’s been a ride I’ll tell ya 😂 fights at the box towers
I've been playing D&D and AD&D since the 80's, and now most of my kids play the game as well. I agree, the figures are great, my favorite one is the Mindflayer.
My adult son insists the D&D game would be great fun for our family. We are pretty theatrical and love to play games together, so I've purchased the starter game set and he explained the rules. When we are all together for the holidays, I hope we can play. Thanks for your comment--Cheers!
I've gotten 8 of the Dragonborn, he is my personal favorite (as you can see by my profile pick lol) And I've turned most of them into Knight Templar, by giving them human heads and removing their chest armor.
That’s a great way to customize it!
I'd choose the Dungeons and Dragons Set. It looks very good on display with all its colours (ok the Zelda deku tree does too) but it's nicer for displaying the Minifigures
Thanks for your ideas! My trouble is I like them both, haha!
The DND set is awesome. Right up your alley. Same with the Zelda set. Both fit into your theme with great parts and figs. I have chosen both but spaced them out… they will be available for a few years.
Yes, I've pretty much decided both will fit nicely, and like you will space them out. Now the question is--which one first! Cheers!
I bought a lot of them. I'm going to make a set of paladins and angels vs. vampires.
That sounds like an awesome idea!
Just found you great content
Thank you so much! I appreciate your comment and am gratified you are enjoying the videos. Cheer!
@4:15 Githyanki not warlock, githyanki. I mean it os githyanki warlock but face and ears are because of race (gith) not because of class (warlock)
Thank you! Not being a D&D player I am certainly not familiar with the intricacies of the characters. I intend to create new stories for them as I use them to inhabit my world. But it’s nice to know the real deal and I thank you for giving it to me. Cheers!
The DandD set would be best, plus you can get a free pdf module, which has a storyline associated with the set, if you like the pdf, will be available in print format as well
I appreciate your ideas. Thanks for commenting!
@@tbsince1954 and I play D&D in the 70s, lot fewer rules, and am glad to see lego expanding what they do, always enjoy the mythical creatures, hope they will do a 2nd CMF on this. With the early response so goog, expect they will
I am 60 years old and like you and those figures, I did the same thing by using a Star Wars Grand Moff Tarkin figure as my president of my country of Lego Island but still using Gran Moff as a leader, therefore using my imagination.
As an old drama teacher in one of my lives, I'm all about imagination. I love your ideas! Happy building, and many thanks for the comment.
I'm 31 and I totally agree with yoy
Thanks!
Dungeons + Dragons ,And Fortnite have both changed the way I feel about mini figs .I love them and want multiple 's .
I have to have a look at Fortnight minifigs- thanks for that!
Seems the best way to get them is by grabbing a case from an eBay seller. Sadly the one I picked this time was cheapest and therefore slower than a molasses covered tortoise. Still haven't gotten them yet despite the preorder. I may order another case (probably from a different seller this time, lol) since having 6 of each character in this set would be great!
I think I'll probably go the case route. Thanks for your comment and idea! Cheers!
I love these minifigs and brought a set to integrate into my castle/medieval town scene. They fit perfectly and look fab. I even have the dragon born out front of the lion knights’ castle chatting to the queen. The only thing that puts me off buying the D&D (other than not really having the money) is that the dragon is such a big part of it, and I am not so keen, his head flops and can barely see his eyes. As for the Zelda set, I would love that, but seems so overpriced.
I am glad to hear that the minifies fit in nicely. Exactly what I was hoping for! Happy building!
I would get the d&d set if you are going for a mideveil theme as a fan of zelda there are better buildings and places in the games i would wait to see if they make more zelda sets before doing so especially if they make a twilight princess set that wound fit your theme much better
The lady of pain looks like a pineapple
:-)
Just tried it today, if you buy a box of 36 pack, it comes with 3 sets
Thanks for reporting in!
The D&D set would be better for what you looking at then the zelda set.
Yes, I see that. Thank you!
