    Bro I literally bought a GX 470 yesterday! I was looking for a more aggressive wheel tire combo to get away from the mall crawler look and I’m hella glad I found this video! I was about the body shop and do a lift just a fit 33’s and now I know I don’t have to! Great job!

    • @uknowhim21
      @uknowhim21  3 года назад

      Congrats on the purchase! Thanks for watching and I’m glad I could help. This setup is perfect for the stock ride height and these vehicles are so much taller then most vehicles anyway, they look lifted. I don’t see a need to change this setup unless the air bags fail and you then want to go with a lift and slightly bigger tires.

    • @artgangy
      @artgangy 3 года назад +4

      If you want to run 33s, you do need to do a lift. 1 1/2 inch lift requires to chop the fender lining and the body mount. A 2 1/2 inch lift requires only the fender lining chop. Rob said he is using a 265-70-17, that equals to a 31.6 inch tire. I am running a 285-70-17 which is a 33" inch tire and with stock suspension, it rubbed so bad that the stock running boards completely tore off from the front. I am currently running OME 2.5 inch lift and with the fender lining chop, no more rubbing.

    • @dp9948
      @dp9948 2 года назад

      @@artgangy how wide is your rims? Iam going with 33s and have a 3" lift so wanted to know if I'll have any rubbing issues.

    • @___Karma__
      @___Karma__ 4 дня назад

      @@dp9948you probably figured it out but you need to trim for 33s, also you don't need or want a large lift. You are getting your clearance from tires, not lift.

  • @wingit41

    With this recommended build, they rub, and you cannot go with the stock tire size. I loved the look, so I went down this route. I took a close look at my stock (worn) tires relative to the wheel wells and decided I would go with the smaller stock 265/65-17 size BF AT KO2, BUT they only come in the E1 rating which requires a minimum rim width of 7.5, which doesn't work for the TRD Pros. Also, the TRD Pros were not available through my local Toyota dealership; they said they were on "stock hold" from Toyota and could only supply them for TRD Pro warranty work. I found them on eBay (+shipping expense) and went with the 265/70-17 C1 rated BFs. I love the look, but they do rub - at heavy turn angles - especially in reverse (as you would expect). They work, but I would have liked these details in your video to make them part of my decision.

    • @Leander311
      @Leander311 2 года назад

      Bill do you have a 460? I’ve noticed the 470’s seem to have better clearance so somewhat oranges to apples. Also TRD wheels have +5 offset vs +25 for stock 460 wheels, so swing a wider arc due to sticking out more… sounds like flat fender bolt mod (with zip ties) might work perfectly for you. Doing this myself tomorrow.

The finish on these wheels are amazing but pretty sensitive to wear and fading with washing and just general use. Unless you just don't care and are cool with beating them up a bit, and seeing that you live in NJ with salty roads, I'd see about getting them coated if you're into that. If you are, hit me up. Rob, what's the ride like with those tires? I had a tire guy flat out tell me that he wouldn't put them on my GX. Said that the ride would be terrible and the car would handle poorly.

    • @uknowhim21
      @uknowhim21  Год назад

      Besides the noise being a bit louder (which I don’t really hear as I have music going) the ride feel and handling didn’t change. The right psi is important. Now I’m not taking turns like I’m in a sports car, so maybe if you’re doing that, you wouldn’t be happy. If you’ve always been using continentals or a really good all season cruising tire, maybe you won’t like these. But I’d say for the standard person, who knows they are driving a large suv, they will be very happy with the look to ride quality compromise that they give.
