The woman that hit my brother head-on while going the wrong way, was drunk and lived on house arrest for months before being sentenced to 25yrs with 10yrs suspended for the death of my baby brother. Oh, and she also got married during that time. My brother was a month shy of turning 29. He never has been and never will be married. Drunk & distracted drivers that kill people should get no less than 30yrs behind bars.

Yes! This is just one reason I never go into the intersections without clocking who is coming from either side and roadway. She was speeding, but she didn't just accelerate. She had to have been going top speed for a bit. Of course you look ahead when driving, but always assume things like this will happen. Because they do. She murdered six people who did nothing to her, but she decided to speed and that is why they died. I lost two uncles to drunk drivers who had been speeding. Both of the drivers were women. One of my uncles burned to death in the gasoline tanker truck that he was driving, and the other uncle was killed because the woman who hit him ran through a red light and totaled his car. But until we know whether or not she had been drinking or under the influence of drugs, I will still say she should still go to prison just for her high rate of speed.

I realize people die every day in car crashes... but this particular disaster has really hit me harder than anything else in recent memory. The loss of life and manner in which they all perished is devastating enough. But I think what really nauseates and infuriates me more than anything else is the fact that this tragedy should have never happened. This was no accident here. This was a mass murder. I will never, ever be able to comprehend why this woman did what she did. There is no reasoning or excuse in the entire universe that could justify her actions. This was not some 16 year old boy out with his buddies being immature and reckless. This was a grown woman, an educated and I assume intelligent person with a career and a very nice car. What would have possessed her to drive 100 miles per hour on a busy city street and go through a red light at a major intersection? Was this a murder-suicide mission? Was she completely whacked out of her mind with drugs or alcohol, or both? And once again, there is no reason or excuse on earth that could logically explain her actions. She must be held completely accountable...from the hospital...to jail...to court....to prison....to intense therapy to fully comprehend and take responsibility for the devastation she has caused, the people she murdered, and to all the ones in any way related to this crash who will suffer with broken hearts (and probably psychological trauma) for the remainder of their lives. And, if this woman who caused all this ever does get her driver's license and her driving privileges restored....even if it's 20 or 30 years from now, I swear to you I will move out of the state of California in protest. I want, so very badly, to know what the hell this woman was thinking when she got into that car to drive for the last time. As I said.... there will never, ever be an excuse or justification good enough....but I just really want to know why, and I think everybody related to this incident as well, including anyone who has ever driven an automobile, deserves some type of an explanation. And even though she means nothing to me at all, I do have in my heart somewhere a little morsel of sympathy for her....because basically, her life is DONE. And last, and as I grieve for all these strangers as I write this, if that driver of that Mercedes who recklessly and callously destroyed all those lives....had that driver been ME, I would rather have been killed as well. I wouldn't feel deserving enough to even breathe or live another day.

I am heartbroken. What really surprised me is that the arrested driver was a registered nurse. She worked her entire life to build a career to help save lives. All it took was an argument with her boyfriend and alcohol abuse to destroy her entire life, kill 6, injure 9, scar countless witnesses with PTSD, and put hundreds of people in mourning for lost loved ones.
Alcohol abuse is selfishly dangerous for the people around you and innocent people in your community.
Drink moderately. Look after yourself, then look after your friends and family.

@@stormbringer126 wouldn't say I'm a massive advocate blogging about it every chance I can get so kudos for you thinking that you know me. Secondly, and judging from your response, you're the type that loves hearing themselves talk just because you have a narrow mindset that's been brainwashed by either your liberal education or the news you tend to get your information on. My statement is just as logical an argument as gun safety. I'm giving you this opportunity to flex what you think you know and try to change my mind on the matter because if I'm not mistaken... Statistics say that 32 people die everyday due to drunk driving. Okay let's take out them being impaired. How many people die from just vehicle accidents? 42,915 people died last year in vehicle accidents. 20,726 people died last year due to gun violence, excluding suicides... So... One tool kills double the amount of people as opposed to the other. Why can't we ever just blame the person who's operating either one? With enough cash, you can buy a gun or a car. I mean if you wanted to buy a gun legally, you'd have to go through background checks, but a car you can just pick up on craigslist without a license. It's easier to buy a vehicle than a gun let's be real here but yet vehicles kill double the amount of people per year than guns do. You see where this is headed? So PLEASE, educate me on your point of view because I can't wait to hear about how much sense you won't make.

When we start any vehicle driving, we re-enter into an agreement with humanity to drive civilly at all times, in every sense of the word. I'm thankful when I and everyone driving around me keeps that covenant intact. I do not take participating in any car movement for granted. But I am only human. I hope I retain the relational integrity to resolve any and all personal shortcomings that may compromise my ability to responsibly re-join my fellow drivers, to again and again participate civilly and show due competency when driving my car in life on the road. If you go out & drink alcohol beverages at friend's place, party, bar, or anyplace, call a taxi, Uber, Lyft, family member or designated sober driver to take you home. A DUI will cause you major problems & other people too. It's not worth it. Most police will even be happy if you walk home & not being disorderly. Remember a DUI stays on your DMV report for many many years. High risk automobile insurance is very hard on people with DUI. ITS NOT WORTH IT!!!! DO NOT DRINK & DRIVE PLEASE!!!!!
