Mercedes 4x4 camping vehicle tour

- This is a Mercedes 4x4 camping vehicle (G class) converted by Off Road Centre from near Stuttgart, Germany and filmed at Abenteuer & Allrad 4x4 trade fair in Bad Kissingen.
I think this is a bit like a jeep which is why I call it as such. I am aware that the word jeep refers to a vehicle manufactured by the company of the same name, here I am using it as a generic term for the Mercedes G class.
I live in a motorhome full time and travel around Europe in it. I spend most of my time in Poland, Germany and Italy. Vanlife is my life.
In my RUclips channel, I present reviews of recreational vehicles. I do this by regularly attending trade events such as CMT Stuttgart, Abenteuer und Allrad, Caravan Salon Dusseldorf, Warsaw Caravan and Camping Show and sometimes others.
I cover equipment, including 12v electrical equipment and talk a lot about lithium batteries.
I also show some of the places I have visited in Europe in my own motorhome, as well as the places you can stay at! I try to give as much coverage as I can to official campsites and free places which I use for overnighting. Therefore you can find here the aire or stellplatz that you are possibly looking for.

Sleeps four = great. No inside shower not so great. Looks rugged as anything though

It's a safari vehicle, right. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to go outside to relieve myself when the vehicle is surrounded by lions!

Absolutely amazing conversion, I'm always impressed by how companies do their layouts in such small units as space is critical
Everyone is correct in their opinions in this subject considering their own needs. The diversity of rigs and equipment at Bad Kissingen show is amazing, including the camping grounds which justify a 2 hour walk to look at everything between a Bedford Rascal and an 8×8 KAT 1.
Man, you don’t even mention the incredible capability of that chassis. The G-wagons with the portal axles are like little UniMogs and are amazing.
you are absolutely right about the propane/ng heaters vs diesel as the former emit water vapor as a by product of their combustion.
Very cool to see and I knew it would be boxy just like a G-Wagon inside, very cool show wish we had one like that here.

PurpleCrackRock not sure where the guy in the video is from, but here in the Czech republic, the word “Jeep” is sometimes being used as a synonym to a broad term “offroad vehicle”. So maybe thats why...?
@@CofIQ yes people world wide (outside of the US) commonly use jeep as a catchall phrase for any 4wdrive utility vehicle. This fellow sounds like he's from the UK and they definitely do there.

Why the move away from 3 way fridges running it on gas while touring since they don't use much gas and it reduces the strain on your battery bank?
Depends on the battery! Also it is easy to run out of gas although admittedly it does not cost much. Definitely the subject for a film in that comment!
@@VanlifewithAlan new gas regulators have gauges as do underslung tanks to an electronic gauge placed in your van, although new vans may not have these.
@@sim6699 I have photographs of them on my website but not many are in use. Of course with a refillable solution, one just fills up the gas whenever possible!
@@VanlifewithAlan diesel cleaner than gas... funny perception.... diesel heaters must be cleaned and gas don't.... dryer? Put the exhaust outside in both cases!

Jeep is a brand. This is a Mercedes G Wagen, or Gelandewagen. Just like a Land Rover is not a Jeep and a Jeep is not a Land Rover. You wouldn't call a Ford Transit a Ford Vauxhall.
I suppose you would not call a vacuum cleaner a hoover or a cola that was not manufactured by Coca Cola a cola either. Jeep is clearly a generic term and is used as such to refer to this type of vehicle.

Manuel Torres Jeep started off as a catch all term for an off road vehicle, certainly in the UK any off road vehicle will be referred to as a jeep or 4x4. The term jeep predates the willys jeep which is the originator of the Jeep Brand.
In Europe they use "jeep" (not Jeep) the way we use Ski-doo for snowmobile or Kleenex for tissue.

INDUCTION plate is elektric - no matter what. DIESEL glas top is delivered by Webasto, Wallas and only few others. BTW - most stupid location for kitchen top - imagine children moving here and there while the water is boiling just in the pass way...

@@RobertPunt If it is written with a capital J yes. If it is written with a small j it is generic like for example hoover, xerox, jacuzzi, crock pot, kleenex, chap stick, ping pong .... and many more.
