Finally a different whistle sound file. I hope this is the beginning of lionel using more whistle files on locomotives.
If anything they should give us access to the sound files of the locomotives, so we can choose our favorite lionel whistles.
The real 4500 was repainted, and put on static display in Tulsa, Ok, at the Route 66 Historical Village. It’s an absolutely beautiful locomotive. Every year they decorate it with Christmas lights. They are in the process of building a depot behind engine, and rolling stock.
I love when you get in close and show us the specific details and features, then we can closely see these beautiful locos.
just want to say that I love your green bridge/trestle , It's the best that I have ever seen and the design, shape and weathering of it are excellent and you deserve an award for such a thing of beauty . You did a fantastic job of incorporating in your layout , I also want to say that your backdrop also blends into your layout perfectly.
Thank you!
@@Ericstrains Speaking of 4-8-4 northerns I have an idea for a new lione legacy style steam railsounds equipped l o scale 4-8-4 northern steam locomotives including a Burlington O5-a/b coal and oil tender northern that Howard bixler scratch built when he was seventy-two years old #5632 but in three rail o scale with legacy style steam railsounds and all the same legacy style steam features that can be seen in the lionel trains catalogs including wireless tether connection between the steam locomotive and the tender,die-cast locomotive and tender bodies, pilot trucks, directional lighting including operating headlight and backup lights, operating electro-coupler on the rear of the tenders, scale dummy coupler, traction tires, illuminated cab interior, engineer and fire stoker figures, dnyachuff with 32 levels of intensity as the locomotive gains speed, directional lighting including operating headlight and backup lights, high levels of separately applied metal details, separately applied builder's plate,bi-color marker lights, adjustable smoke output, fan driven smoke, swinging bell, whistle steam, quilling whistle, interior cab illumination, traction tires, cab glass windows and many other neat legacy steam features that can be seen in the lionel trains catalogs although when lionel models some so neatly beautiful looking Chicago,Burlington and Quincy railroad o5-a coal tendered northern steam locomotive that mr.bixler scratch built when he was seventy-two years old #5632 complete with all the same legacy style steam railsounds and features that can be seen in the lionel trains catalogs including all the same legacy style steam features that I have mentioned here it will be the first in the lionel trains company's world famous american four eight four northern series all in different classes and designs according to railroad
I saw the full size Meteor in person, what a gorgeously painted locomotive!
The different smokestacks were AT&SF exclusive features.
Imagine the curved stack on heavy smoke mode
Eric, I love this set of 4 clips, especially the Frisco, which is on my wish list!!
I've seen the real Frisco 4500 and my god it is beautiful to see someone finally give it the attention it deserves.
Here is the 4500 in Tulsa OK - www.rgusrail.com/album/okslsf4500/slsf_4500_02.jpg
@@stevewilliams9255 I’m aware. I live in Bixby (Directly South of Tulsa), OK
Ummm....not quite. This is just a repainted santa fe 3751 class locomotive with a lima 22ra tender. The proportions of the two types of locomotives are wholy different. Convincing from a distance perhaps...
@@andrewmagosky7181 I’m aware but it is good enough for now
@@andrewmagosky7181 We know, but you need to know that there are several of these Northerns around.
This engine is about 30 minutes from where I live in Oklahoma!!!
Same!
Nice!
Same here!
It’s about 6-12 from me
I live in Tulsa
Sure glad that's not as purple, as it 1st appeared. Sure love these newer models their sound is fantastic! Thanks for sharing this !
Absolutely on the back to the future locomotive. I loved to see you run it with that!
Love that paintjob!
A really beautiful model - immense range of features and great accuracy.
I grew up with Lionel trains. I have moved several times and have no room for a display. This train is very beautiful !
That whistle is immaculate.
That whistle was in Lionel’s first Legacy GS-4 run, cab no. 4436, my favorite engine
i love SP #4436! plus it had 4449's real whistle
Awsome paint scheme. Love the frisco. That blue pops. Great very informative review as always can't wait for the Christmas bonanza. Merry Christmas everyone.
Wow love that paint scheme!
Great looking locomotive. Love the colors.
It's so beautiful!
I work on the real 4500 and she is a oil burner, there is a lot on this model that is not correct to the real Meteor
I've seen it on display before, you said you worked on it? You think it could be restored?
@@ilikeguitars3511 Right now my crew is doing cosmetic restoration on it but we do plan on getting it to full operating condition but that will take time
@@robertcouch9021 that would be cool, you guys got a website or youtube channel?
@@ilikeguitars3511 We got a Facebook pages Friends of Frisco 4500 and Route 66 Village
@@robertcouch9021 okay cool
The prototype #4500, as with all the Frisco 4-8-4's, do have an oil-tender. It does have the top curving of a coal tender
Baldwin made 3 (4500-4502) oil burners that were for passenger service. There was also 22 coal burners (4503-4524) which had a different paint scene on the tender - www.glacierparkmodels.com/Frisco_4-8-4s.html
You know, that could almost pass for Cotton Belt 819, my favorite steam locomotive of all time.
DanielChannel57 mine is the big boy and favorite diesel is the f units
Daniel, I used to play on the 819 as a child when it was displayed at Oakland Park in Pine Bluff. It is now in repair for a 15 yr inspection and refit. It is just an awesome engine. I visited it last summer at the Arkansas Railroad Museum where the work is being done.
@@txrazorback6357 How's she lookin? Haven't heard from her in awhile
@@buccaneerrailfanning1776 Still mostly disassembled at the time I saw her. They are tight on funding and looking for donations.
@@txrazorback6357 I really hope she runs again some day. And I hope I'm alive to see it.
Both of the Frisco northern look great
I like whistle steam better when the whistle and stack has 2 different smoke units, so 2 different places to load smoke fluid.
Beautiful piece !!!!
Beautiful loco...and I’ll bet that green Rio Grande version is a stunner too.
That whistle is awesome!
Another great review.......... TY
Dang that thing is a beauty!
Beautiful!!!
You are my favorite o scale model railroader, this is a great review and keep up the great work 👍
Thank you!
Amazing Train!
A "smoke bonnet" was used on some AT&SF 4-8-4 locomotive
Some of the engines assigned to California service, especially the Valley Division, had hinged "smoke bonnets" that were swung into action in tunnels, apparently to prevent the exhaust from damaging the tunnel roof. The smoke would therefore have been directed back towards the cab instead, so these thing must have been something of a mixed blessing.
No 3751 carried one of these when it was retired, and No 3759, displayed in Kingman, Arizona, still has one.
Really like the passenger equipment you featured in this video.
Excellent video Eric... I just came across this model at GREAT LAKES HOBBY & TOY my local hobby store here in Michigan; it’s even better looking in person.
Merry Christmas to you and your family🎄
Nice engine! I like the blue and white colors!
These new renditions of Lionel’s 4-8-4 are simply stunning. This along with the Santa Fe #3765 are some of the most attractive steam engines on the market today.
Great review as always! 👍
The paint scheme 3765 is wearing the santa few blue goose paint scheme and that was worn by on of the 3400 class Hudsons and that was the streamlined one
Looks awesome
Very cool and pretty engine and i love all the sounds
I've seen this locomotive before while we were going across the country, they have it set up on display in the Tulsa area; it's a beautiful locomotive
Awesome review Eric!!!
sorry im late i was just a fan of something else. but now im back with trains
I just saw the real locomotive in Tulsa and now I’m watching a ton of videos about it.
At 6:30 you can see a little spider running around 😂😂
I like this and the blueish Santa Fe 4-8-4
Now we need to get Lionel to make a St. Louis - San Francisco Railroad (Frisco) T-54 Class 4-8-2s and I would be set. After all I have to show my love to my hometown Frisco Locomotive, Frisco 1522.
Love the video Eric
That Santa Fe version is absolutely gorgeous, we have one in our store and it is a beauty.
Which store is that?
@@Ericstrains I work at the Lionel retail store in Concord NC,. Dream job for a retired guy.
OMG. THAT’S THE WHISTLE THAT THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC DAYLIGHT HAD IN THE REAL WORLD. 😄😃😄😃. Nice one!!
Cool!
Nice very nice
Did a quick search to try and find a real smoke stack like the one you installed - couldn't. That said, it does look cool!
That sucks
Great vlog mate more please 😂😂😂😂😂❤️💕
I love Lionel trains
I like the more realistic smoke stack better that smoke you like looks like something that came off of a wood atove
I love this model eric❤❤❤
Thanks!
@@Ericstrains anytime my friend ;)
Southern Railway had smoke stack like your favorite you put on Locomotive course crews wore breathing mask also .
Next video can you do a review of either the j3a Hudson or the pacemaker from Lionel. I would really like to see that thing highball down the rails
This engine is more Santa Fe than Frisco. Both types of smoke stack extensions shown here were used on The Santa Fe 4-8-4s.
As far as I know, the A.T.& S.F. was the only road to use the Wagner drifting valves located on top of the cylinders as this model has.
hola buenas noche muchas gracias por subir el video abrazo grande
The 4500 and 4501 are the two preserved early Frisco 4-8-4s. They are both oil burners and both painted blue. The 4516 and 4524 were also preserved, and they are both coal burners painted black
5:55 probably a favorite of mine. Great video tho. Pondering on getting 3751 or 3759
Great review Eric, and suggest the new Lionel Visionline Southern Pacific GS-1
5:34 I like how those alternate smokestacks have what looks like secondary whistles on them.
I could be wrong, but I believe those are motors used for opening and closing the smokestack...or something to that effect.
@@Ericstrains Those stack extenders were operated on compressed air so in a way is could be termed a pneumatic motor.
Iv had the honor of working at the museum where 4501 is at, it's the sister to 4500.
Cool.
Show us a video of how you measure pulling power.
What A Handsome indigo locomotive
That really is a beautiful blue, it seems close to ultramarine blue
Im working on umgeni steam railway tomorrow
The bent smoke stack was used to direct smoke to the side so the train doesn't throw smoke all over cars or people
Actually I think it's better the old way having a separate fuel hole for the smoke stack and a separate fuel hole for the whistle
I’m blue daba de daba di also 45k subs congratulations 🎉
I seen some photos of the Frisco 4500 I think it’s an oil burner
Her whistle sounds like the 611s whistle
Just out of curiosity, do u live in the Florida area? My niece and nephew would love this!
I wish they would make more Frisco steam locomotives like frisco 1500 class and etc
Eric can you to review on the Lionel Conrail t1
Why can't I shake the feeling that this looks like a Santa Fe Northern?
That's cause it is, but with a Frisco livery.
The reviews and videos are great! Any chance your going to get the ACL version of this engine from the same catalog? I'm curious to see if they put the correct tender with it as well. Understandably, I can find anyone willing to open the box and send some pics before I commit to buy. I appreciate any information you can provide!
Yes
When you run the train on the top-level during reviews, do you run it all the way around on the layout and up or do you just pick it up and put it on the trestle?
Good question RJ
Beautiful Lionel train sounds great.
I’m sure he runs it around the layout
It looks like its from heaven
Review the NJ TRANSIT READY-TO-RUN LIMITED EDITION MAINTENANCE-OF-WAY SET
Hey Eric, awesome review! I’ve got a question- what camera do you use for these videos, and what do you edit them with? Thanks a lot!
Once again Eric, great video showing us your love of the hobby. I would also like to commend your positive outlook as I recently watched another channel which reviewed Lionel's SD-40s and the whole video was the presenter whining and ragging about what he bought and how he should just go to HO. My first thought was go to HO and stop whining. Better yet, if he was disappointed, he could have presented his issues in a positive light instead of his whining. I know you have had reviews where you have pointed out issues with certain products but you have always left it to the viewer to decide on what to do. RUclips is fantastic to all those creaters who wish to share knowledge and educate or entertain others. Then there are those who want an outlet to just rag on things. They should be free to do their own thing, but I am not interested in watching negativity after a long day in the real world!! Thanks again Eric! By the way if you have not seen any of his videos, Mr. Muffin's trains in Atlanta, Indiana, has a fantastic layout open to the public. ruclips.net/user/MrMuffinsTrainsfeatured
Thank you! For me at least, this hobby is about having fun and so I don't see any point in focusing on the negative. There's enough negative stuff in the world, especially this year, and I feel that model railroading should be an escape from that and a source of relaxation and joy.
Second RUclips video today on the review of this engine.
6:26 - Who else noticed what seems to be a little bug moving around in the background?
@Samuel Olesek lol
Hopefully he ran it over(I ran over one by accident).
LOL I saw it
he places them there all the time ,
I have locamotive tht lost sound and was wondering if you know how i cld go about fixing it, its a santa fe hudson 3450
non-brass NC&StL J3-57, when model companies?
the actual 4500 (along with 4501) are oil burners, not coal
hope this helps
At the Museum of the American Railroad in Frisco Texas we have #4501 Meteor, which is a 4-8-4 Baldwin with Dark blue color that has an oil tender. Tulsa OK has the number 4500 Meteor. Here is a link to # 4501 - www.steamlocomotive.com/places/frisco/slsf4501-barris2.jpg
im just gonna say this when you started sampiling the crew talk it said " my oil is full" and not my coal is full since it has a coal tender
I think this is the same engine parked in west Tulsa ...yes? I’ve got pics but can’t seem to figure out how to upload them.
The Meteor coal burners were for Freight service. The three oil burners (4500-4502) were for Passenger service.
Yeah, one is in Tulsa
did you not know there a wi-fi theater car on the category? I think you sure buy it and it say download app on your phone or table to watch the train go.
The whistle sort of sounds like UP 3985
9:46 the Whistle Sounds like 4436
The Tender is correct in the production but it had a Oil tank where the coal bunker is.
6:28 - Spider or something above the sand dome.
It’s a little piece of fake grass. Ha
this engine is in tulsa at route 66 village
This locomotive now gives you the excuse to get the matching Frisco passenger cars. Meteor Cars Inbound!
What matching cars? Lionel hasn't offered any.
@@MH-ey4co Even though they made that engine and not have made a set of Frisco passenger cars even if they do not say Meteor on the passenger cars. I know that I have seen Frisco passenger cars. The locomotive is what carries the name Meteor. Like Daylight express or "Super Chief" or Blue Bird or Orange Blossom Special the only thing that may say a train's name might be a drumhead put on an observation lounge car at the rear of the train like the congressional etc.
