This is really great, thank you for the time and effort all of this took. I would need to dig into it more, but the Resident Evil soundtrack you mention early on may in fact by 12-tone/atonal/post-tonal music, where all 12 chromatic pitches are valued equally, and the music is more based on a series of numbers (for pitches) than traditional harmonies. It could in fact just be incredibly modern music. Again, I'd need to listen more. Cheers, and can't wait for more Legacy streams.
Dude I LOVED that one. I remember playing it with a bunch of weird instruments with different combinations until the song was unrecognisable, like mixing ancient Asian instruments with cheerleaders or stuff like that.
Payday 2 is iconic for its soundtrack - the music is a game mechanic itself! When you play a heist, it feels like there's only one song but it's intuitively reacting to whatever you're doing in the mission - stealth/loud/dying/in a police raid/only team member left/etc. Their composer creates all different versions and parts of the same song for each mission which all play into each other seamlessly. Idk if that makes sense but the song you hear when you play a heist will be unique to your run through, like the beat will only drop at the most climatic part of *your* heist.
@@PhilOfGlimmer I recommend the RUclips video: "The Hidden Music Mechanics of Payday 2" by Game Revo if you are interested! And the game itself is super fun as a party game.
@@PhilOfGlimmer Ahoy made a fantastic video on the development of both Doom and Quake, you should check them out if you have not done so already. Also, it's rather criminal how poorly this video did compared to your others. I especially the "noise" joke XD
I've been watching your HP and SH videos for a while now, finally watched this one - coming from my Xbox to phone to comment lol. Thank you so much for the content you create - every video brings a smile to my face ❤️ Very insightful video, I am definitely going to look into some of the artists you mention here. Thank you for all that you do, looking forward to future uploads! ❤
Just did platinum on half-blood prince and was wondering when you were going to make a review of it ? I'm really looking forward to know what you think about that game, it's one of my favorites along with the trilogy haha, cheers!
@@PhilOfGlimmer That sounds amazing, about the topic of the video, Dark Souls 3 and half-life really hit different for me, maybe red dead redemption 2, they always have a way to touch my soul with the OST's. I could also quote the ones from silent hill 2, white noiz and resident evil code veronica and 1 when you get inside the safe rooms.

Such a great watch. Thanks for the shout out and sporting the merch! ♥️🍕☎️
What are some of your favourite ways music has showed up in games? Mine is playing Swan Lake in Wii Music with four recorders - beautiful!
Mine was playing the great sea from wind walker on saxophone

Love the facts but also the sass
Great video! I learned a lot in this one. These two Arca quotes sound very thought-provoking indeed.
4:46 fun fact, Trent offered to do that because he loved Doom so much.
That's very fun! 😍

I am here to inform you, that bugsnax released on steam, and it is an absolutely banger game, don't sleep on it, because of the late steam release.
