I believe it was a 30 minute set. Unfortunately, this is the only song I filmed. In retrospect, I wish I had filmed all the other songs plus the other artists that were there.

No, you didn't. I don't care how good you are, nobody learns Neon on an acoustic with all its nuances in a day. The right hand technique, the muting, the rhythm and singing, at speed, at the same time? Plus the WTLI style intro, the solo, the hammer-on triads, muted raking etc...

But when you already know those techniques, and you're really just learning the rhythm and chord structures, it's a lot easier. I'm not completely ignorant, I know I don't play it as well as John Mayer. I'm just saying that I learned how to play it. Do I have all of the tiny right hand inflections down? No. Can I play neon with the thumb-slap technique well enough that it's recognizable and up to speed? yes.
@@svensvensson6705 yeaa he lost a couple of upper notes especially the notes for Waiting on The World To Change & Good Love is On The Way, but his control over his lower notes is becoming more astounding
Not to mention that he's also slapping while thumb picking the bass line and finger picking the melody. Oh, and singing while he's doing all of that other stuff, and likely being a little perturbed at these corporate morons, talking while he's performing.
@@Nairrrrrrr Ksuspended is correct. John Mayer used a Dave Matthews edition Dreadnought Martin guitar for almost all of his acoustic work. The entirety of Room for Squares was done with the guitar.
