Hi Ashely, I wondered whether you could advise? I have tried installing the OceanWP Skater theme. I couldn't see the "gallery" section on the index page. So I thought I'd be clever and install the demo again, but instead of overwriting it seems to have installed in parallel so I have duplicates of menus. Then I thought I'd overwrite with a different demo (Medical), but the now I have 2 headers, footers...A bit of a mess. So rather than start the whole thing from scratch, which would probably be simpler, I wondered whether you knew of a way to remove the demos that are interfering?
Just wasted 17 mins staring at an image of a French chateau, it would really be great to see you work through the features of OceanWP

However, I am struggling to figure out how to change the category page layout?
I am using OCEAN WP theme, and when I make a page, I am able to change the page layout. But in case of category page, such layout change section is not available.

Great video, Ashley. I'm going to build my first site. I have GeneratePress, Elementor, and Elementor Pro. Would you suggest trying out Oceanwp before getting started? I I am a little confused when I see so many good things being said about both GeneratePress and Oceanwp themes. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your always informative videos.
Hi Thomas, Thanks for the nice words. I have not used Generate Press, people do say good things about it, but I believe I heard it is quite heavy. Maybe you can find some info on that around on the web. It also (always) depends on your needs. I like to keep things light, and flexible if possible, as I can often add or customize things myself in the code. But, not everyone can do that. So, then, you need to have all the options available in the theme. So - simple answer, see what you need, which one suits you best and maybe check the load speeds and feature list (or overkill on features, of Generate Press). Another option is Astra, but that is very very very lightweight :>
Hey Ashley, great video! I am invested in Beaver Builder and am wondering what your thoughts using the two together rather than with Elementor?
I don't use Beaver Builder to be honest, but I imagine it can work just as well. The only downside perhaps is that it might not be as flexible as Elementor Pro 2.0 with the full theme editing capabilities (header, footer, blog) but I am not up to speed on it.

Thanks for your ciritique of the Ocean WP theme. Based on others reviews I'm comparing GeneratePress, Astra and Ocean WP for use on new sites. How would you rate Ocean against the other two themes?
PS- I've been using the WooThemes Canvas theme/framework for ten years for quite a few sites but am now looking for a alternative as they are no longer selling/updating Canvas and intend to phase it out.
To be honest I have not spend any time on Generate Press, and Astra I tried only once. Astra seems like a reasonable option, but in the end it comes down to what you need it to do. I personally can and do alter a lot of things in code (php, html, css) so I just want the theme to be minimal, lightweight, quick to learn and use. But some people need it to be able to access and change all parts of the header, footer etc. Also keep in mind Elementor 2 can now fully replace most parts of a site, so the theme is becoming kinda irrelevant in most cases.
Thanks for the video. I'm a bit confused with OceanWP's handling of child themes. I was initially under the assumption that applying one of their demo themes would act as a "child theme", yet I see no option to apply a demo theme as a child theme. Or do I have to install their sample child theme instead? Their documentation doesn't explain this very well. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

It's more or less standard WP child theme with style.css and functions.php that loads it

Unfortunately I don't have time to do videos at the moment. But here are a few tips. 1. child theme - two files, style.css and function.php, should be easy to create following OceanWP theme (just upload theirs): docs.oceanwp.org/article/90-sample-child-theme, regarding your error and shop, unfortunately this information gives me no clue what the problem is. Could be anything.
bro it is not allowing me to install it properly, it is giving me the error message, 'update failled' every time i try to install oceanwp theme. please help.
Were you able to fix it? ... If so, how?... did you use the free version or the paid one?... were you working on your localhost or on a real web server over the internet?...

Yes it is
I am working on a test site for a client and the dropdown menu entries are a bit wider thn the text. And the text seems to shimmer when the menu is used.
Would you recommend the header being made in OceanWP then rather than Elementor?

only if you plan on editing the CSS or page code manually. Which for most people is 99% unlikely :> so probably not. You can edit the css within elementor anyway, and most people don't even end up doing that.
