Interesting comparison Todd. First time I've heard the original and I like it. Odd, only two years apart yet so obviously across two different decades? I think on balance Noddy and the boys 'slayed' it! 😉 (but that's probably my UK bias).
Hi Brxee ... I am still partial to the Max Frost version, probably for the same reason; it is the one I grew up with. I do really like Slades take on the song- sort of rock/ sort of glitter. I smiled at your comment that the boys 'slayed' it. Great stuff!
John Lennon said Noddy Holder has/had the best rock vocal's he'd ever heard.....I won't disagree with the man who recorded 'Twist & Shout ' in one take!
Slade version is better. But the 1968 version is not bad also. When Slade records a cover song they present it much better than original artist. Long live Slade
There is no comparison. I heard Slade versions' first and it blows the other away! Having said that I do like the Paul Revere and the Raiders version as well
Wow... this gentleman is up on my level
Just discovered your Chanel …brilliant 👍
Hi Bill ... Thank you for the super compliment. I hope I keep meeting your expectations and you continue watching. Keep rockin' ...
I think I'll go with the cover on this one. Slade is the greatest band no one remembers/has heard of.

The Slade version is much better - but i think it often depends on, which version you hear first and get 'familar' with.
