  • Single Leg Squats are the best way to build up leg strength without using a gym. And you can easily make them harder or easier with a couple modifications… We recommend elevating your heel or doing them on a slanted surface to make them more accessible. To make them harder, add a weight vest or hold a kettlebell - which can provide counter-balance! Are you working on your pistol squats? #shorts #youtubeshorts

    Also good to note! If you have any imbalances/weakness in the gluteus medius which is our hip stabilizer, this may be difficult!

    • @MitchellRoman97
      @MitchellRoman97 Год назад +12

      True, good to keep this in mind to not injure yourself at first. But just take it slow and easy at first if that is the case. Doing single leg exercises is a great way to fix those imbalances :)

      @michelejp69 Год назад +3

      Yes - I started doing these last December. I injured my right leg on the outside, from my Glute medius to just above my knee. I still have the pain now and obviously can’t pistol squat anymore. I’m 54, so it serves me right really!

      I'm finding out ab this right now. My glutes are taking a while to adjust from 2 leg squats to 1 leg squats. Might as well take advantage of this to get a big booty

    Should I start with 2 leg squats first or can I do small 1 leg movements using the slant board and build up?

    • @GuestingGameplays
      @GuestingGameplays Год назад +5

      I’m 2 weeks late but I recommend you to do your squats and lunges with its variations, increasing the range and controlling the movement will give you very good flexibility and mobility by the time through consistency, while of course getting stronger in order to do the pistol squat itself, and u can do the negative/active of the pistol squat to get used and see how you are doing too.

    How do you build up to them though? How long should you do regular squats prior to this or what kind of progress should you make before starting to do one legged squats??

    • @jeffrey-bc1ig
      @jeffrey-bc1ig 8 месяцев назад +1

      Many progression you can find with a quick search. One is doing a one leg squat while supporting yourself with a pvc pipe or the foundation support in your basement

    So, I began making exercise part of my routine a few months back. I've been told I have arthritis on my knees. The joint hurts all the time and some exercises make it worse. I've been really careful to do low-impact versions of the exercises, but they still hurt and swell up sometimes. I'm not sure I blame my joint entirely. I have weak hip flexor and hamstrings and quads due to chronic pain= lack of movement. Are there any exercises specific for building up knee strength?

  • @justinl6534
    @justinl6534 Год назад

    Try grabbing the hanging foot. It takes all assistance out of the movement.

    I did 3x5 pistols with additional 20lb in the weight vest which requires even more balance without the counter. Definitely was taxing on the knees. Will do it less frequently than the no extra weight pistol.
