- Featured Product - Garmin makes it easy to keep your maps and software up to date now that the Garmin DriveSmart navigator features built-in Wi-Fi. When a new update is available and you’re on your wireless home network, you’ll automatically receive an onscreen notification. That’s your cue to plug your device into any outlet and let it update over Wi-Fi while it charges. Then you’ll be ready to hit the road again.

This video helped me out so much. The way he did it was so easy. Thank you for making this video. Maybe you can make one showing how to download other stuff to a SD card for a Garmin GPS and the wifi hooked up after the 2nd time. It took 3 1/2 hours to download all my maps but it was worth it though
Just what I was trying to find. Wifi is definitely a great feature.
Thanks bud !! I really appreciate the info!!
Thanks!
😳oh” Man that was Ez, Thank you so much 👍🏼
Device must be connected to PC via USB in order for the updates to be implemented after Accept is pressed
Having trouble updating my Garmin 780 the software upgrade it with no problem the map on the other hand keep failing every time I tried I did a factory reset now everytime I type of area code or address it tells me you can't find it
Thank you so much.
You're welcome!
@@radioworld What did you use as a power source?
Novice here: Can you use Garmin without data to find gas stations in rural areas?
I am using the Garmin Drive 61 and when I go to settings (exactly how you did) all options are there except WIFI. I cannot even enable it if the option is not there. Why mine not have wifi?
When I check for updates, it just says no updates available.
It seems that if you re register from the start, you can se updates. So far though, haven't been able to fully loaded an update. It takes hours then stops halfway through.
I have good internet. 30-50Mb/s.
Any clues please?
Mine will not do that for some reason when i connect to wifi. Any suggestions for what im doing wrong would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot for your help. God bless. Jason
So u can update your Garmin using Mc Donald's wifi without a home computer??? I tried but it wouldn't work for some reason.
Is it possible to do the same for the garmin gps for Seat?
You are killing me man. I'm in a motel and there is a pass code here. Problem is, it shows connected without giving me the option to input the pass code, so it's half ass connected. I searched high and low for the option to input the pass code ( it obviously does not do it automatically) I keep discounting and reconnecting to the wifi in hopes that it would give me the option but it doesn't. Now when I connect with my cell phone to the same exact wifi, the pass code option pops up right after, but not on this darn thing. I think you should address the solution to this problem as well.
Can you update it on the phone app?
Where are you getting the power source from
That's exactly what i was thinking. Did you ever find out?
It says "software up to date"
When I press enable wifi, the screen comes up with "enabling wifi" but stops there. Any clues?
You have to download the map update from your computer 🖥. The update files are too large to update from hotspot or wifi. The technology is not there yet. Also you might need a SD Card to complete the update
My enabling wi-fi screen just freezes up
Mine just says can't connect to server!!! Any help much appreciated!!
I get the same notice. Did you find a solution?
@@TheSafetyDocPodcast I use a different sat nav now! Although it will connect when an update is available!?
@@terrystratford1235 Thanks! Did your Garmin eventually connect to a server and download updates? Mine connected, very sporadically, but the "Install" option at the bottom of the screen was always grayed out. What brand is your new model? I also found Garmin Express to be useless. My computer recognized the Garmin as a removable device, but GE never saw it - even if I used different USB ports. Appreciated. Any tips you have on Garmin updates via WIFI would be great.
@@TheSafetyDocPodcast sorry, no! I visited my parents over Xmas, my mum had a new garmin and not used it as car has a built in one! So I'm using that (no idea what model!). Sorry I can't be of much help! Maybe go bk 2 store and ask for a demo on how to use it? Or say it's faulty and get £$ back!? Good luck!!
My gps said estimate time 2:45 minutes,i started at 2pm and its 6Pm now ,but it still going,
Is something wrong with it?
The update is dependent on internet, including your Wi-Fi speed and connection. 4 hours seems too long, something may have went wrong.
@@radioworld my new Zumo XT seems to be stuck on Wifi update with 1 minute remaining for an hour, any ideas on how to resolve, Garmin support page isn't helpful
Found the resolve on my Zumo XT, On my broadband Home WiFi, my update kept stopping at 4 minutes remaining, after trying 3 times, I then used my mobile phones Hotspot, it completed successfully.
What happens if battery runs out during update
It could lock the unit if the battery runs down. Have it plugged in or make sure the battery is full.
I won't do it
Oh Adam..... You cute.
