A slow start but this is compensated by a stylish ending. Great Rhumba by Barber and Slate here.

I totally agree with the male commentators comments, there were some fantastic skaters around the yet Torville and Dean were stealing the limelight and the judging system was so unfair. The dice seemed to be loaded in favour of the most successful skaters.

This is just my opinion but I have to respectfully disagree..and I don't think thats what he meant exactly...yes, there is an element of the first to be judged getting a bit of an advantage but that is human bias and its always going to take place in sports. BUT as for T&D stealing the limelight because they were successful...they stole the limelight because they were leagues ahead of the other skaters. Yes, the other skaters were world class if you judged them against most skaters around the world but T&D at this point in time were in a class by themselves. Their Rhumba was unparalleled because unlike the others it was completely in-sync and so smooth there were no skids. Every performance they put down was practically flawless. I don't know how they did it...its almost to unbelievable to put down to just hard work and talent but thats what they did. Not to mention Christopher Dean is an amazing choreographer in his own right and helped style some of those moves that had never been seen before in ice dancing. Its no secret olympic judging rules for ice skating were messed up all to hell but Torvill and Dean deserved to earn scores so far above everyone else that year because they were so far above everyone else...earlier in this broadcast they gushed so much about T&D's superiority that they actually had to make themselves stop.
