Please remake crash of the century at tenerife Airport!!! Would really appreciate it

How about the bird strike in Oakland south west jet. Pls make that one. If you do not know the story look up in Google Bird strike Oakland California south west jet.
This video combines my two greatest phobia: sharks and plane crashes, thanks!
Same. Those are my two worst fears
You need to experience snakes on a plane with a sharknado.
Dan JAHENY tbh I’m Australian and sharks aren’t wanting to hurt you they aren’t something to be scared about more people died to cows than sharks
Susan Fagan yeah
So basically death?
When a single person makes videos more intriguing and entertaining than companies who specializes in documentaries.
Precisely
Yeah
Indeed
True. Let's launch a campaign: "The Flight Channel" on Discovery (or NatGeo) lol
Only complaint is that you don't see crash fireballs, wings falling off ect, but can't expect that from Microsoft flight sim 2006. It's not a crash simulator
9:26 "Only 40 of the 63 people on board survived". "Only"? That's pretty incredible if you think about the conditions in which they crashed and how long they had to wait for a rescue.
I think it is used bc even one life lost is big deal. Like it is not good to say only 1 person died... a whole ass person died so it is demeaning i guess. But numbers wise i get what u mean
If I *HAVE TO* crash land in shark infested, choppy water, given ALL the possible variables at play, I like those odds.
But everyone should've survived anyway. (I mean if nothing went wrong)
@@ladonamariposavigilis6447 most of the people who died are most likely the ones who were not fastened or didn't have their vests on since the communication from the crew was very poor.
damachine3 spot on! 2/3 of the passengers survived a water ditching they weren’t even aware that was happening. To say only 40 survived is disingenuous at best.
Crash landing in the middle of an ocean during a storm, with huge waves? Has to be the most scariest scenario ever. I would probably die of hyperventilation, heart attack, brain aneurysm and Ebola before the plane hits the water.
Ebola?!?! XD
ebola??@?
Ebola?
U probably dont have time for that. I pretty sure u are just gonna go into shock and thinking about ur families and within seconds ur gone
Your reasoning is so foolish, how can u Put Ebola in such a scenario 🤔 is that something to fear at such a time instead of being worried of dying instantly by all of u crashing or the dangers in the water by drowning u are talking about Ebola ...plz remind me ,how old are u ,I may be replying a 5 year old 🤔
the pilot had enough experience...Finally you are getting sponsorship...you put a lot of efforts in your videos...this is the best Youtbe Channel for me....all the best

@@RebekahAPinto all lives matter flight 980
The Flight attendant on this flight Ms Margaret Abraham saved many lives on this plane and passed away herself. She is considered a hero on her native Island Curaçao and the airport is named after her. She was about to marry shortly after.
Thank you for sharing that. RiP Ms Margaret Abraham and all the victims...
Wonder if anybody is still alive to tell the story today
Thank you for honoring her by sharing this information. Flight attendants deserve recognition too. They care for passengers, help keep them calm and instruct them. Their lives are lost in fatal plane crashes also :(
Miss not Ms.
she died because of the accident?
I’d like to add one more thing to this story, as this story is somewhat of a legend in the ATC community on my island. There was one flight attendant that lost her life trying to save an elderly couple that was stuck in their seats, allas she didn’t succeed in time. She lost her life trying to save others.
Hey, are you an ATC? If so, can you tell me, what are the requirements for an airport to receive an instrument approach procedure? As an instrument-rated pilot, I'm thinking St Maarten should have an ILS with the heavy commercial jet ops there. An ILS would have possibly saved this ditching. It's amazing to me that there's no IAP there.
At least there were more survivors than casualties. Usually it's the other way around
Trash master 😂😂😂😂
I think the pilots did a great job. Yes, unfortunately there were casualties; but most of the passengers survived. How often has a passenger aircraft successfully landed on water? I'm guessing very few, which is why Scully has become such a hero.
VW Golf I disagree. It was their own negligence that put them in that spot to begin with.
Spoiler alert
@Terry Melvin Firstly, its Sully. Secondly, I believe they were refering to the flight in the video.
Always, ALWAYS keep seat belt on whenever you're seated on an airplane, regardless of whether the sign to do so is illuminated. This is yet another reason I always request an aisle seat; I'm not an alarmist but I'm as prepared as possible in the event of an emergency. All the years as a teacher, I guess, keep me ready for the unexpected. Bless all those poor souls on that plane.
thank you for sharing🙏🏿 God bless🌺
Yep. Good Plan.. However, I always get a seat at the back of the plane. That way, when we slam into the ground with a force of 50 G's I get to live for 0.001 seconds longer than the people in the front..
I was an airline pilot for 25 years. Keeping your seat belt fastened all the time is very smart.
I always request a seat in the black box .
what if i gotta poop
Apart from the “small” issue of not knowing how to manage fuel, the pilot showed incredible airmanship to be able to ditch a plane in the middle of the ocean, in a STORM in a relatively intact state with 40 survivors.
Small issue?? 23 people died. What the fuck are you talking about
@@jman1749 lol
@@jman1749 at least 23 deads is better than more deads
@@jman1749 But it could so easily have been a no survivors scenario and the plane at the bottom of the ocean, in several pieces, within minutes.
@@jman1749 23 deads instead of 63 deads. It was the best possible scenario. Its like United 232: people died, but wasnt for the pilots, everyone would have died
Had the pilot made sure everyone was buckled up, this might've been another Miracle on the Hudson thing.
would have been the preceding one!
I always wonder we never know what people do in panic. Who’s to say people didn’t un buckle during fear?
No one deserves to die period! That person could have un buckled to save another!
@@reggin_spelt_backwards Agreed
Its not the pilots job to make sure everyone is buckled in
Thanks for bringing back the old style and not having an entirely narrated video. Keep up the great work.
A few relatives of mine died on this flight...They were from Saint Martin/Sint Maarten, resettled in Staten Island and was returning home. I could never find the passenger manifest list to see their names. Rest In Peace.
I'm sorry for your loss...May God rest their souls
There is a very detailed book on this accident named "35 miles from shore" by an author called Corsetti. It includes the passenger manifest.
It's so weird. I'm not even interested in aviation yet I find myself binge watching your videos. I'm also glad you added some narration. Keep on keeping on! :)
Bobby Walker same here
Bobby Walker me too!
It means deep down inside you are into aviation
Me too lol
Ooo... ditto!! Thought I was the only one 😬
Never understood "shark-infested". Sharks are fish. This is the sea, where fish live. It is their home.
Seriously.. then cities are human infested haha
excellent point
Tommy Jensen true 😂 😂
I was thinking exactly the same thing!
G L O C K what abt the zoo??? 😂😂
I would've guessed there was going to be no survivors at all
Me too

Same! Miracle!
Probably with engines below the wings, nobody would had survived. Tail engined planes are much better on ditching in water
Not even national geographic can compare to this!!
***king fanboy.
Subaru Impreza WRX STi '05 chill lmfao
This might be your most visually stunning and breathtaking video yet. Seeing that monstrous ocean with all those waves getting closer and closer was exhilirating and terrifying all at once. I can only imagine the horror and confusion of the passengers when they looked out the window.
My great grandpa died 5 years ago he was one of the survivers
M Bb he was?
Did he mention why the other ones died? Was it sharks or the crash itself?
@@crand20033 I think this video explains that, because many werent seated and belted. So when they hit the water, it might have kicked them out and unconscious people sink.
One of the surviving crew said in a recent interview that he did not see any sharks when they were floating in the water. And they(crews) did not hear those 2 commands by the cockpit that notify crews to prepare of an emergency landing (1.Emergency station & 2.Brace for impact)He said the 3rd.Pilot in the cockpit abruptly opened the door and yelled sit down, sit down. Those seated in the front heard him for sure.Maybe when it ditched nose up those at the back got injured badly and didn't make it.
@@annieg6014 They ran out of gas. But if they had any gas left before landing maybe they could have used the reverse thrusters to slow the plane down to almost zero mph which would have reduced the damages upon impact and saved everyone aboard.
Man those graphics with the waves were amazing!
I know! It looked so real. I thought it was pretty terrifying.

"Okay there's a possibility I may have to ditch this aircraft, I am now descending to the water."
Imagine sitting in the shitter when this happened.
Better than shitting one's pants
Best place to be!
Hard no... I've been in the toilet during turbulence and it's not fun at all. Crashing into the water you'd prob get thrown off the toilet into the door, hopefully it doesn't break. and if you're in the rear toilet you're going to be the first one hitting the water
It's kind of like two horrific scenarios at once, falling from the sky then sinking in the sea😭
I’m so glad that you’re finally getting more recognition. You’re work really dose deserve it. Keep up the awesome 😎 work.

Didn't know there was another plane that landed on water in tact, apart from 2009 sully landing. This one seems much more challenging though in rough seas.
yeah well sully is amazing but he's overrated if you ask me. pilots have done some amazing things and have never even been heard of.

Bite me hater, no one asked you... wtf qualifies you to judge such a man who saved so many people from a horrible that would have destroyed so many live.
You're just some punk troll with shit to your name
Quite a few have ditched and survived. Tuniter 1153 off siciliy from memory was similar to this, fuel error so have to land in med, most passengers lived
Boris Sheen yes amazing as it was.. it happened in New York so media was all over the Sully story ..
Meanwhile: *Swissair flight 111 is sweating*
A PanAm crew witnessed the ditching and reported the position to the rescue helicopters. The PanAm aircraft then circled the location for over an hour to help guide the rescuers
It's a miracle that one person survived let alone 40.
You have a sponsor!! Best of luck and success!!
The music is just wonderful.
It’s very sad to hear that such an experienced pilot would not keep an eagle eye on the fuel consumption. But most of all, the cabin should have been completely prepared for a water ditching!! Even Scully made sure his passengers were ready for the water ditching and he only had 208 seconds to do so.
Sorry to hear so many people died in this crash. Condolences to the families of this flight.
Your videos are becoming so professional. One of my most favorite channels on RUclips!!
Thank you so much!!
your videos are more entertaining to watch than all those documentaries. the cinematography is constantly improving! you are one of my favorite channels.
It's my recollection many of the passengers who died had inflated their life vests inside the plane. It again speaks to poor cabin management by the crew.
TFC videos does deserve sponsor man,, for the hard work and the quality of your videos. Happy for you!! Congratulations! 😎
Nothing but quality! Just made my day. I can’t think of any video made by The Flight Channel that disappointed me or didn’t leave me satisfied.
i love listening with headphones...hear the plane ...music....absolute bliss, it just takes me there. Thankyou
Having Headphones on (not tinny earbuds on) that emphasise highs and lows in sound and all of the details in a dark room with no light or any distractions... with a 20" wide screen approx 4' away from it...
THAT.. is where its at.
Not sure id want to be in that setting but sure I get where you going lol
@@mugen050 ha ha I guess!
I agree...the airplane engine noise is so soothing to me
All the pilots' years of experience should have came into play on those failed landing attempts and calculating the fuel.
They should have used instruments and landed that second attempt otherwise the third attempt was do or die fuel wise I guess. He could have at least been closer to shore... 30 miles is a long swim!
There's not a lot that anyone can do if the computer controlled fuel gauges are out of sync. Not at all the pilot's fault nor his co-pilot.
@@rosemarydudley9954 he failed to land his plane repeatedly
Because of the weather and fog he couldn’t see
That airport is the one you see videos of the planes skimming the beach and barely clearing the fence. They pass so low over the beach you can almost see the color of the pilots eyes. The fence is one you see people holding on to "enjoying" the jet exhaust when planes take off. I was there on vacation two years ago and it's an experience not to be missed. That place is a tough landing in the best of weather. On take off it's an almost immediate sharp right turn to avoid hitting a mountain a short distance from the runway. It's a crazy place.
My Father flew for 35 years. We always had to keep our seatbelts on. And the other point was to count seats to an exit, then do it again with our eyes closed. I don’t know how much help it would’ve been. But we did it. Still do
Isn't that interesting. Everytime I sit down on a plane I count how many rows away from the exit I am.
Great story! Amazing that anyone survived. Incredible video, as usual.
Yes, considering all of the mistakes made by the crew of this flight, I think that this video should end 9:28 not with, "ONLY 40 OF THE 63 PEOPLE ON BOARD SURVIVED" but instead should say, "IN SPITE OF IT ALL, STILL, 40 OF THE 63 PEOPLE ON BOARD DID SURVIVE." - j q t -
@Jimmy Hellas but the word "ONLY" implies that this was a poor outcome; when in fact, given those dire circumstances, it actually was a rather good outcome I believe, all things considered. - j q t -
@Jimmy Hellas Yes, I just need to 'start read' properly; it's now abundantly clear to me and anyone else reading this. If I had only not tried to help the author of this channel be slightly more grammatically correct, then I wouldn't have had to display the vastness of my ignorance and language and writing skills to the entire RUclips community, for which there are, as you so kindly pointed out, no excuses whatsoever. And of course, Happy Flag Day! - j q t -

Artem Morozov go to the wiki page for this flight, or literally any flight for these videos. 95% is copied word for word.
From 8:13 onwards gave me so much anxiety, and this is only an animation. I can't imagine how the pilot felt at the time knowing all hope is lost and the passengers when they realised what's happening.

Unique presentation! Stumbled upon your channel about a week ago and absolutely love your videos! Keep it up!
This channel, by a million miles, have the best videos. You have really thought about what people would like to see, the content is brilliantly put together with an explanation down to the last details. Although I scare myself witless, I am addicted to The Flight Channel. Thank you for all your hard work ☺️
Yet another MASTERPIECE. All of these videos on here are like full length movies. Well done once again!
I got shivers just watching this video!
I love your channel! Great work...always. Happy you now have sponsors!
The captain obviously made communication errors that worsened the outcome for several of the passengers. Nonetheless, to me, he is one hell of a hero for managing to bring down that airplane in one piece over such violent water as that. That is an almost impossible accomplishment that takes LOADS of skills and balls to put it frankly. Not many pilots have managed that. Bravo! 👏👏👏👏
I blame the absence of blind landing systems at St Martens. I blame the lack of a functioning PA system for the lack of preparation. The Germans were using blind landing systems prior to WW2 and they used them on night fighters and bombers throughout WW2. The had names like FuBL 2 “Funk Blind Landung”. Why wasn’t this airport properly equipped. These were technical failures, not failures of the crew.
Great video! It's possible that news of this crash was overshadowed in the US by other major events. Headlines on 5/1/70 were about Nixon's decision to invade Cambodia. The crash made front page news on 5/3, but then the Kent State shootings happened the next day on 5/4, and follow-up stories about the crash were buried.
its really sad , if someone die :(
Ya it's very sad.☹️
Yeah I agree

I have been to St. Marteen. It’s such a difficult landing way way low over people. The videos are always crazy to view. When we left we actually went to that beach to see how low it really is to people and it’s insane.
What I like best about this channel over other similar creators is he leaves the words up long enough for me to read. I'm not a speed reader. Other channels I have to constantly hit pause to finish reading what the scenario is or explanations of investigations. Thank you Flight Channel for letting me read it all without pause. And now, back to my binge watching. LOL.
