      @chakur25 Not sure, every make is a little different. You could call the Honda dealer and ask the service manager, he might tell you, if he is a nice guy. I done that in the past.

    No need to take the hose off the therm cover. Just replace the therm and reinstall the cover. Also the nut with the wires was a ground. Don't forget to put that back together. Also, the original has a bleeder valve (jiggly thing) that must be in the up position when installing. Aftermarket therm does not have this feature and will be harder to bleed air.

    I'll be doing this job tomorrow on my 2001 Odyssey for it's first thermostat change so thanks for the video. BTW, Honda recommends using only Honda anti-freeze for this job, but who know whether it really matters or not. Honda's pretty picky about using only Honda fluids in their vehicles. I do believe them on only using Honda transmission fluid. I change mine every year and have never had any transmission problems in 120,000 miles whereas many people have to replace transmissions at around 80,000. I'm guessing a lot of those transmissions have either never had the fluid changed or had the non-Honda fluid put in.

      I used the Honda transmission fluid. Cost more than regular auto transmission fluid. But anti-freeze, I don't think so.

    I Got a couple of loose females connectors from the harness can't trace at least three of them. One wire is the ground so five wires altogether. A Honda Odyssey 2001

     @David Lis david, I posted this question in your radiator change video.
    after i was done replacing the new radiator, the odyssey starts up ok for 2 secs but shuts off immediately. i remember you mentioned about about some electrical connector (on the radiatior fan) was involved but on review the video, i cant trace it. I thought it was the coolant temp sender. So i replace it even though the originator sender resistance spec is ok. After the cts changed, same problem. Any idea? thanks

      I marked and took pics of all electrical connector I disconnected, that way I could double check which one I missed.

    If u have a bad thermostat it makes the temperature gage go to hot

    • @davidlis6709
      @davidlis6709  11 месяцев назад

      Meaning, the engine gets hot. Gets hot to many time and it starts burning oil.

    What about the jiggle valve needing to be in the 12 o'clock position in the housing?

    Why would u disturb that hose and pry it off if it wasn’t needed to remove

    Do you have to drain all the fluid just to change the thermostat?

    • @davidlis6709
      @davidlis6709  3 года назад

      NO. If you drain the radiator, it will be enough. Video 1:20
      Just have to get the water level below the thermostat.

    I have to change my radiator which in your video you pretty much took a part the entire front end and I think I might as well change the thermostat too. Would you recommend any other changes while it’s apart?

    • @davidlis6709

      Look at the hoses to see if they have any cracks.

    • @inisorphillip6779
      @inisorphillip6779 Год назад

      Check the 2 round shape and 1 long rubber supports underneath the radiator. Check upper and lower hoses for bulging area as well as for cracks and brittleness.

    Hi did u change the thermostat due to car overheating?

    • @davidlis6709
      @davidlis6709  5 лет назад +1

      Yes.
      I started this project by replacing the radiator because it was leaking. Since, the radiator was removed it made it easier to replace the thermostat. The thermostat is cheap and does not take that much more time to do. In the end, it did not need to be changed.
