My obsession with old Chinese Jazz began with the song: “It’s Not Too Late”, which seemed to spring right out from one of Old Shanghai’s ubiquitous cigarette girl posters. After moving to Shanghai I met all these young experienced jazz musicians with their own unique styles and began weeks of rehearsal and recording (during the SARS period in China) The result is a collection of favorite old Shanghai jazz songs refreshed and re-invented by some of the top musicians in Shanghai during 2003.
