I am 68 years old my son is 33 extra more for a local band monster jam all the time have a guitar player comes over and smashing pumpkins as one of his big things this is the best bass tutorial I have seen while I was searching RUclips to find out how to play this song thank you I can't see anything that everybody hasn't already said man what a good job
I usually say that playing a song that has a simpler bass line is harder than playing a difficult in technical terms. And you rock in this song. What the music needed u played, and played very well, thank you! Love this song too.
Whoa girl, you look and sound really good! This is my fave song from TSPs so I am able to really appreciate it. Love seeing a girl playing bass.. not so common!
Great version, I've been struggling with a lot of bad tab and mediocre covers, but this nails it, definitely the version I will try to emulate. Thanks!
The bassline for the chorus is a lot cooler sounding that I thought, or at least the way you play it. Whenever I'm listening to SP, I'm usually focused on the drums, guitars and lyrics. The bassline that does come to mind though, as far as ones that immediately caught my attention, was the middle section of "Tribute to Jonny Winter" from the "Zero" single. That chromatic hammer on riff is really cool, especially w/ 1 guitar track harmonizing in thirds.
Not that you need me to tell you, but you kicked ass girl! Have been bouncing around some songs (including this one) but probably found my next band pick.
For the record, those are Billy Corgan basslines!! Thomas, Richard. "Signal to Noise: The Sonic Diary of the Smashing Pumpkins". EQ Magazine. October 2008.
+Cory Smith Tune it well, patience, lots of it, make sure to have some good timing, always try harder and harder songs to progress. As a beginner you should really focus on the correct technic with your hands, use the damn pinky, is it your 1st instrument?
Great! I think SP basslines are a great way to study and become a better bass player myself! I think D'arcy's basslines on GISH are even the most elaborate I have heard on any SP album so far...(but that's just my opinion) --->>> by the way -- that a yamaha bass?
Hey, thanks for the sub ! I really like your cover. Very good playing but, I don't understand how you hold your pick :D With the index and the middle finger, maybe ... ( ? ) Cheers from france !
Lol, I do everything weirdly when it comes to playing bass. I guess i use 3 fingers to hold the pick. Whener I try to use two i feel like it slides off of my hand.
I use two to hold the pick and my middle to put pressure on my pointer finger that is holding the pic so that's kinda like 3. Anyways, you sound good. Out of all the covers of this song I like yours the best. I am a bass player too.
Great cover, nice playing. With that hairstyle if you dyed it blonde you'd look just like D'arcy
Totally nailed the D'arcy vibe! Respect

This song will never get old.
Recently listened to bass and drum tracks only from this song, the bass is way better than you can hear on the record.

reggae
Timing, as good timing as to have people dancing to your playing. That, and knowing how and when to mute the strings.
Great! I think SP basslines are a great way to study and become a better bass player myself!
