Thanks for the loading and I would like to add. Maggie L. Walker, the first African American woman to charter a bank in the U.S., was one of its most notable residents. Her bank, the St. Luke Penny Savings Bank, empowered Black residents economically. Then the government stepped in. Interstate 95 and 64 highways, divided the neighborhood and displaced many residents. Coupled with economic shifts and the effects of desegregation, the area experienced a decline.

Thanks for giving this informative Black business history content. I love the beauty knowing about our Black nations' unity to create, organize, and build of our own communities, towns, cities, states and government. Eventually we must become a united Black Nation and SEPARATE from these present oppressive systems and people. The building of wealth will require to have a strong security system in operations to stop all those who may desire to destroy, harm, rob or murder. Do you know, "Are there any documented history of Black Architect in America and thru-out the world?" Did not the Black Moors build Europe, West Africa, etc.? We are amazing and beautiful Black people.
