- This week we took out our homemade DIY camping trailer aka " Trailer Swift " for it's first overnight camping trip. We camped at Coleman Lake campground in the northeast mountains of Alabama. This was an AMAZING trip! we slept in our new rooftop tent and kayak fished in a hidden lake deep in the mountains. I even caught a HUGE bass while kayak fishing! Hey great camping trip , on the kayaking foot steering I hear what you are saying I have the same problem with my torqueedo 1103 once I'm out of low speed it's hard to steer , I'd like to fine a way Greg Blancher did his foot steering but he dose not talk about it ugg keep them videos coming I so enjoy them

Hey, Bud... ReALLY Love the way your camping rig is set up.
That Bonifide 'Yak is light enough (kinda makes me jealous) for one person to lift and load onto the trailer (love that "Trailer Swift" name, by the way!), but have you considered bringing along a SUP Paddle (telescopic) so you can stand and maneuver the 'Yak? I have one for each of my Native 'Yaks (10.5 and the new 12.5 Titan X), and they kinda "compliment" the Newport motors.
If I get over to Alabama, I'll have to check out your rig (maybe we can do a little fishing, as I'll be bringing at least 2 motorized 'Yaks with me, and a TON of fishing gear!). Being retired, I get to do what I WANT to do - as long as the bills get paid, that is! I plan of going down to Florida to see Tracy (OLA), and then out to the "Left" Coast to see Greg B. again.

I genuinely wish you knew how excited I get when you post a video about your kayak or your trailer. I built the kayak cart you made, and it’s a major game changer. I also bought the whip lights for the back of my trailer and I love them, I even had a California Highway Patrol Officer stop me, just to find out what they were and admire them.
I’m a Professional Therapist, and I take clients out and teach them how to kayak, and how to fish for trout. The problem I have is that I alway need to take 3 rod & reels per person and a 3 bass rod set ups too. That’s 12 total Ugly Stik rods with 12 Pflueger reels on them. They don’t all fit in the tubes together. Any recommendations! I’m thinking that I’m going to need to make something custom to attack to the trailer, for them. I appreciate the kind words and for the support! I recently bought my Yakima Topwater rod box for my trailer and I really do like it. I will admit, they are WAYY to expensive for what they are but it really is a great way to safely haul a lot of rod & reels and it’s lockable.

Just came across your first video when you started this project. Binged the series before bed. That’s quite an epic build. I’ll sub to follow along.
I have my late parent’s Nissan truck bed trailer (probably same era as your Mazda) that I just never had a use for besides holding garage boxes as it sat in the garage but didn’t want to get rid of it cuz it’s a good trailer. And it has perm plates on it :v
I was looking at tear drop trailers again and my friend said I should convert my trailer in to a camper trailer. Looking up truck bed camper trailers and then seeing you custom build Trailer Swift was a lot of fun and inspiring. No way a project for me at the moment cuz broke boy hours but I can at least start getting ideas.
Definitely interested in what you plan to do with the foot steering. I plan on picking one of those bonafides up soon and that seems to be the only complaint about them.
Hey bud, you may want to install some red lights under your awning to keep bugs away. If you want to lift your trailer, I would go 2" or maybe 4" at the most.
