Great thought-provoking idea. I love to speculate as well. “Tears” for me means “lament,” or “sorrow,” a dropping of sorts, and from what we see, Zelda literally drops to her doom. Perhaps Zelda, as a concept more than a princess, “drops” as well, and we lament the princesses downfall. Hence, the need for recycling the Hero of Time, and the Goddess of Hylia. We begin again. Perhaps that shaggy-haired Link is a Link reborn, one who cannot endure the tear-drop shape of the Master Sword, corrupted by malice, and must begin his adventure again, hitting the restart button again, and again. And through it all, the tears, though utterly painful, guide us, by the sprinkling of their baptism, to new birth. Just speculation 🥲
