Yes basically. However when you are talking about a computer where many games require keyboard inputs (along with if you want to program), the keyboard is kind of a must. That said, you can hook up a keyboard to the mini if cost is an issue. Another benefit of the maxi is the better joystick (micro switch) and the extra usb ports. I think it comes down to preference and what you are using it for . I personally enjoy both but prefer the maxi. It is a much more authentic experience in my opinion.
I personally don’t like microswitch sticks. Hated the,rattling clicking of the day. I opted for and loved the Wico bat also Wico trackball, sturdy and accurate, comfortable though I have big mitts
So the other one is bigger with a real keyboard and that is all? The maxi now cost 300$ on Amazon and the mini is 60$.

I don’t mind the clicking but you are right, the Wico joystick was awesome!
